Re: SONAME BUMP jsoncpp

2025-02-27 Thread Ben Beasley
It looks like the vtk build for F43[1] failed due to [2] (which is now
hopefully resolved), but the side tag was still merged[3], so quite a
few things that depend directly on VTK now fail to install in Rawhide. I
kicked off a fresh build[4], which I hope will succeed and resolve the
problem.

Re: SONAME BUMP jsoncpp

2025-02-27 Thread Ben Beasley
The credentials-fetcher package was also rebuilt for the
abseil-cpp-20250127.0 update, which just landed in Rawhide a couple of
hours ago. I didn’t build this version for F42, only Rawhide. Depending
on timing, you may find it necessary to do an additional rebuild of
credentials-fetcher in your side tag for Rawhide.

Yes, you're correct. This is because it's Bodhi (usually) that applies
the gating, and Bodhi doesn't *really* understand the concept of
"Rawhide". There is no single long-lived Rawhide release in Bodhi's
model - we just have a "Fedora 43" release right now, that will still
be 43 when 43 branches, and we'll create a new "Fedora 44" release at
that point.

So when Bodhi queries greenwave for a "Rawhide" update, it queries with
the product_version set as 'fedora-NN', not 'fedora-rawhide'. So a
'fedora-rawhide' policy will not match. The code is at:

https://github.com/fedora-infra/bodhi/blob/1efe4475d33bad7137a142afa78f1b15e94bc91d/bodhi-server/bodhi/server/models.py#L2337
https://github.com/fedora-infra/bodhi/blob/1efe4475d33bad7137a142afa78f1b15e94bc91d/bodhi-server/bodhi/server/models.py#L3858

So yes, unfortunately, this is a bit awkward.

Potentially, we could have Bodhi figure out when the release it's
working on "is" Rawhide (we have various implementations of this...)
and do additional queries against 'fedora-rawhide'. But that doubles
the number of queries run at any given time, and for some updates it
already has to run rather a lot of queries. Greenwave allows a single
query to specify multiple decision contexts and/or 'subjects' in a
single query, but not multiple product_versions. I'm not sure I'd want
to make greenwave accept multiple product_versions, it feels inherently
odd aside from this "they're really just different names for the same
thing" case.

Perhaps we could instead come up with some kind of 'alias' concept for
greenwave? I'll have to poke around in the greenwave code and see if
that's feasible. In that case we'd just have to update the alias in
greenwave config at each branch point, it can even be templated.

I was fighting this all day yesterday, but I think it's now fixed.

See https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/12419

and do let me know (in the ticket) if you see any failures
after about 02:00 UTC on today (2025-02-27).

SONAME BUMP jsoncpp

2025-02-27 Thread Björn 'besser82' Esser

Hello,

I'm planning to update jsoncpp to 1.9.6 in Rawhide and F42.

The following packages will need to be rebuilt, which I will handle in a
side-tag:

jsoncpp
cmake
credentials-fetcher
domoticz
guayadeque
lgogdownloader
libopenshot
minetest
notekit
oomd
openvr
openxr
paraview
polybar
powdertoy
qpid-proton
raceintospace
radiotray-ng
sasl-xoauth2
svxlink
torque
vfrnav
vrpn
vtk
waybar

I'll give a shout as soon as the rebuilds have settled.

Rawhide-only gating?

2025-02-27 Thread Nikita Popov
Hi!

Is it possible to somehow limit some gating rules in gating.yml only to
Fedora rawhide? For example, to gate on rpmdeplint (which is only available
for rawhide), we've tried something like this:

--- !Policy
product_versions:
  - fedora-rawhide
decision_contexts:
  - bodhi_update_push_stable
  - bodhi_update_push_stable_critpath
rules:
  - !PassingTestCaseRule {test_case_name:
fedora-ci.koji-build.rpmdeplint.functional}

But the rule does not get enforced.

The documentation at
https://gating-greenwave.readthedocs.io/en/latest/policies.html implies
that using a fedora-rawhide product version is supported, but we suspect
that greenwave expects fedora-43 instead. However, this would require
updating the gating configuration every time Fedora branches.

Regards,
Nikita

Strange s390x failures in scratch builds

2025-02-27 Thread Richard W.M. Jones
When doing scratch builds (only from Pagure pull requests?) we get
this strange error on s390x builders:

GenericError: Downloaded file
http://kojipkgs-cache03.s390.fedoraproject.org/work/tasks/1737/129631737/ocaml-gettext-0.5.0-1.fc43.src.rpm
 doesn't match expected size (0 vs 145364)

Here are several recent examples, so it seems to be a pattern:

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/ocaml-gettext/pull-request/3
-> https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=129631736

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/qemu/pull-request/78
-> https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=129611742

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/qemu/pull-request/79
-> https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=129611948

No issue on https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issues yet.
Is that the right place to file a bug?

Rich.

sounds like a network/caching issue ...

2025-02-27 Thread Michal Schorm
Hi,
I'm the package maintainer of mariadb-connector-c.
I began to investigate.

I think I already found the possible cause and solution, I'll continue
the discussion in the BZ ticket.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yep, PR against cxxtools is there.

FTR: It was a case of _GLIBCXX_ASSERTIONS which caught a real bug,
upstream fixed it now.

I guess it also shows why disabling test suites is bad - cxxtools' had
been disabled a while ago. That's why the problem showed up in tntnet.
I'm not writing this to blame anyone. I understand how much trouble it
is to work with flaky test suites (heisentests), or upstreams mingling
build tests with code sanity tests (linters) or making specific
assumptions. So, here's encouragement to keep test suites enabled :)

I'm more worried about emacs turning off its test suite in order to
build emacs 30.1 ... although I can report that notmuch's test suite
exercises emacs tests and they still work ...

Cheers,
Michael
