Re: Apache Roadshow India in 2020?

2019-06-25 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Sharan!

I'm in Gurgaon and can help/volunteer and also represent Apache CloudStack
(cc-ing other CloudStack users/devs in the area who may want to join).
Happy to help if you need help around hotel and conference center in/around
Gurgaon.

Regards.

Re: Apache Roadshow India in 2020?

2019-06-28 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Sharan,

The best locations in Gurgaon are: (sorted by closeness to the
International airport)
- Aerocity (hotels nearest to the airport that have business centers but
don't have good bars, restaurants so you're stuck with what the hotel or
nearby hotels have to offer, check
https://www.booking.com/district/in/new-delhi/aerocity.html)
- Cyberhub (there are business centers, co-working spaces and hotels, as
well as an area called CyberHub full of restaurants and bars, check
https://www.booking.com/landmark/in/dlf-cyber-hub.html)
- Sector 29 (there are some good hotels but I'm not sure if they have good
business centers, but there are great many bars and restaurants in that
area)

Let me know if you need any help or if you want me to go check out the
hotels personally.

PS. I've helped arrange our internal company conference (SBCon) in May,
which we did at
https://www.heritagehotelsofindia.com/haryana/heritage-village-resort-spa-manesar.html
but
the location is about an hour outside of the city/airport. It is green,
open, has a golf course nearby and their bar is sub-par and I did not like
their conference facilities and infrastructure.

Regards.

Hi Infra-team, dev community,

I've a Dockerfile in one of the apache/cloudstack-primate repo:
https://github.com/apache/cloudstack-primate/blob/master/Dockerfile

What is required for it to be built/hosted on the apache dockerhub
organisation?
For example, https://hub.docker.com/r/apache/cloudstack-primate is still
404.

What is the process of build integration that must be done? Thanks.

Re: https://hub.docker.com/u/apache

2020-05-11 Thread Rohit Yadav
All,

I've logged a ticket with infra now
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-20255

I see there are some Apache projects that have their own dockerhub org such
as https://hub.docker.com/u/trafficcontrol (
https://github.com/apache/trafficcontrol has the dockerfile(s)).
What is the official policy on publishing/hosting Apache projects on
dockerhub, do they need to be under the `apache` organisation or can
projects/PMCs manage their own organisations? Thanks.

Regards.

[ASK] Using apache/cloudstack Github for submitting GSoC2021 ideas

2021-02-02 Thread Rohit Yadav
Dear community,

The Apache CloudStack project does not use JIRA anymore for issue tracking
but have moved to using Github issues. I see the comdev wiki [2] where
ideas are proposed. Can the CloudStack community edit this wiki [2] or do
you advise any other way to participate and propose ideas for GSoC 2021?

Thanks and regards.

Re: Invitation to participate with the ASF at GSoC 2021

2021-02-16 Thread Rohit Yadav
All,

Apache CloudStack uses Github issues for issue tracking. I've added an idea
with a link to the Github issue to the GSoC2021 page here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/COMDEV/GSoC+2021+Ideas+list
I want to ask the community if this is acceptable or we need to only use
JIRA?

I've also removed the manual contents with the table of concept macro, some
projects/mentors may need to fix the headings of their proposals.

Regards.

Does ASF require that mentors for GSoC21 are committers or PMC members

Importing external codebase which is not under APL

2021-04-27 Thread Rohit Yadav
Dear ASF Legal, ASF com-dev, cc Apache CloudStack PMC,

The Apache CloudStack (ACS) project recently voted [1][2] to continue
further development of an archived 3rd party project:
https://github.com/hashicorp/terraform-provider-cloudstack

We discovered that the original codebase is licensed under Mozilla Public
License [3], following which we've asked the original authors to re-license
the codebase and all the files under Apache Public License v2 [4]. Before
the vote, they had agreed but now have suggested to fork the codebase and
re-license it ourselves. What are the steps of importing/forking 3rd party
codebase under a weak license and re-license them under APLv2[4]? Thanks.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for replying, are you with ASF legal?

Hashicorp CTO and their management agreed over email, which I could forward
over our public lists or ask them to send a confirmation on the voting
thread. I think the codebase is owned by a company (Hashicorp), do we need
the company to agree to the license change or all the contributors
irrespective? This is the repository

Re: Importing external codebase which is not under APL

2021-04-28 Thread Rohit Yadav
Thanks Justin, yes the person voting -1 had a concern that the ACS doesn't
end up having repositories that don't get any participation/development.
It's mitigated by the fact that there are contributors who have shown
interest and want to maintain, develop and release under ACS. They also
confirmed that -1 wasn't a binding vote.
