[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1104434] [NEW] Copy entry in terminal menu not accessible via menu key-C

2013-01-24 Thread Edu
Public bug reported:

1. Open new terminal window: gnome-terminal --disable-factory
2. Select some text.
3. Press the menu key.
=> Menu is displayed with first entry selected (Open Terminal).
4. Press C.
=> The selected entry is unselected.

Expected result: Copy in the menu is selected and the selected text is
copied into the copy/paste buffer and the menu is closed.

You can also select a different menu entry with the arrow keys after
step 3 and get the same result, unless you select "Close Window", in
which case step 4 selects the "Copy" entry, but does not execute it and
close the menu.

With the following command menu copy works as expected:

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 gnome-terminal --disable-factory

gnome-terminal 3.4.1.1
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1877841] [NEW] with the dark theme, the active line is highlighted and I cannot see the text I am typing.

2020-05-10 Thread Edu
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1857191 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857191

Public bug reported:

1) Release: 20.04
2) Version: 3.36.1-1
3) Expected: I have the Dark theme on. On opening Gedit, the active line is all
white. When I typed, I expected to see letters.
4) What happened: Nothing appeared. I thought it had locked up. I tapped on the
Enter key and it went to the next line, revealing the text I had typed on the
previously active line. So, it seems like with Dark theme on the text is white
and same as the highlight. When I switched back to Standard theme, no problems.
The text was black, the blank space is white and the highlight is slightly
off-white (beige maybe, not good with the naming of colors). It's perfectly
legible.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2018539] Re: File selector extremely slow

2025-03-30 Thread Edu
I have the same problem on Ubuntu 24.04.2 when using Firefox (136.0.3)
or Chrome (134.0.6998.165).

Sometimes file selection (including folder navigation), whether for
download or upload, takes so long that the system reports failure in
both browsers and asks if I want to wait or quit.

  Often times, if I try to search for a file in it, I have to wait 10 or
  more second before the letters I typed appear, and most of the time
  the last letter I pressed when typing, will appear before the rest of
  what I wrote, meaning I have to wait for my query to be deleted before
  I re-type it again.

  This has only just started since upgrading to Ubuntu 23.04. I noticed
  that Nautilus has been faster in general since the update, but in the

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 145704] Re: Same tooltip on both workspaces when using Compiz

2012-06-14 Thread edu jose
Hi Chris! I'm on 12.04 right now, using Unity 3D/Compiz.

This bug happened in Gnome 2.x, but now in Gnome 3.x I think it's not an
issue anymore. Now Gnome 3.x uses a different shell (either Gnome Shell
or Unity as far as I know) with different ways of selecting workspaces.

For example, in Unity 3D/Compiz I just see a generic tooltip when mouse
is over workspaces icon; it says "Workspaces Selector". After pressing
the icon, the screen shows the four work areas, with no tooltip there.

(Oh, I forgot Gnome Classic! I can install and test it if you want, but
tomorrow as it's bed time around here)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 145704] Re: Same tooltip on both workspaces when using Compiz

2012-06-16 Thread edu jose
Hi again, sorry for the delay in responding.

I just installed Gnome Classic and the bug continues there. Tooltip is
always the same when hovering with the mouse over any of the four work
areas shown in the selector.

However, when looking at the preferences of the workspace selector, it
says the number of workspaces is 1. When I increment this number in the
preferences, the selector changes from a rectangle with four divisions
in it to two rectangles, three, four, ... and then the tooltip on each
of them shows properly the workspace number.

Well, this is confusing to me, so I made a series of screenshots to show
what happens (see image attached).

Don't know whether it's worth filling another bug or just saying it
here.

Anyway, as you said, I also think this is a minor flaw; maybe moving it
to some kind of "Gnome Classic papercuts" category would help to remind
it's still there in case someone wants to work on it. As you see fit :-)

Also, I don't know for how long this Gnome Classic will be maintained.
Maybe it's better for people wanting to have a classic look to use Gnome
Shell with the proper extensions? (didn't try to set it up this way,
honestly).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 145704] Re: Same tooltip on both workspaces when using Gnome Classic

2012-06-17 Thread edu jose
Hi Chris, the bug description could be changed to something like this:

Bug Description

In Gnome Classic (or Gnome Fallback) under Ubuntu 12.04, workspace
switcher's tooltip always say "Current workspace: Workspace 1", though
there are four workspaces by default.

For an image of this, please look at comment #19.

This happened in Gnome 2.x times, and seems to continue now in Gnome
3.x.

Please feel free to modify it to better suit the bug (I'm not a native English
speaker, of course :-)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2013281] [NEW] Bad localization of date format

2023-03-30 Thread Edu Gómez Escandell
Public bug reported:

# Affected version

I'm using wayland on Ubuntu 22.10 with GNOME Shell 43.1.

# Bug summary

The date displayed on the top bar follows format [Month(short)] [day] [time]:
```
mar 30 08:59
```

This date format makes sense in english, but not in spanish or catalan,
nor probably most languages in existence. In spanish it is even worse,
because "marzo" (march) and "martes" (tuesday) both start with "mar", so
it looks like it has been tuesday for the past 30 days; particularly
since [weekday] [day] is a common format, whereas [month] [day] is not a
format at all.

The lockscreen shows a similar format [weekday] [month] [day]. This one is
wrong, but not confusing. It reads like a bad machine translation.
```
martes marzo 30
```

I initially opened [upstream](https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
shell/-/issues/6558) and was redirected here.

** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2049014] [NEW] software-properties-common is missing dependecy python3-six in Noble

2024-01-11 Thread Edu Gómez Escandell
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu version: "24.04 (Noble Numbat)"
software-properties-common version: 0.99.40

This command fails to run when package python3-six is not installed:

```
$ add-apt-repository -y --ppa ppa:ubuntu-wsl-dev/ppa
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 14, in
from softwareproperties.shortcuts import shortcut_handler
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/launchpadlib/credentials.py", line 59,
in
from six.moves.urllib.parse import parse_qs
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'six'
```

I reproduced this bug in docker. The following dockerfile exercises it:
```
FROM ubuntu:devel
ENV DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive
RUN apt-get update
RUN apt-get install -y software-properties-common
RUN add-apt-repository -y --ppa ppa:ubuntu-wsl-dev/ppa
Modifying the docker file by adding `RUN apt-get install -y python3-six`
before the last line works as a workaround.
Tried to reproduce today and the issue is gone :D
I presume some intermediate dependency fixed it.
