Hi Chris! I'm on 12.04 right now, using Unity 3D/Compiz. This bug happened in Gnome 2.x, but now in Gnome 3.x I think it's not an issue anymore. Now Gnome 3.x uses a different shell (either Gnome Shell or Unity as far as I know) with different ways of selecting workspaces.
For example, in Unity 3D/Compiz I just see a generic tooltip when mouse is over workspaces icon; it says "Workspaces Selector". After pressing the icon, the screen shows the four work areas, with no tooltip there. (Oh, I forgot Gnome Classic! I can install and test it if you want, but tomorrow as it's bed time around here) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libwnck in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145704 Title: Same tooltip on both workspaces when using Compiz Status in Compiz: Confirmed Status in Compiz Core: Confirmed Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts: Incomplete Status in “libwnck” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: To reproduce: Use Compiz effects, either normal or extra. Put the mouse over any of the two workspaces in the switcher, both show the same tooltip: "Current workspace: Workspace 1". It doesn't happens when using no effects (just plain metacity wm): tooltips in the switcher are different for each workspace, and correct.
