noticed that the error is occurring inside Yelper::Init (called by
dh_gecko_utils_search_find), eip is zero maybe this is caused by a stack
overflow in some xulrrunner function called by Yelper::IInit??

[Bug 82748] Re: [apport] gnome-volume-manager crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-02-02 Thread rik
Thanks for the reply. I`m using the default Ubuntu (Feisty) ATI driver
(card is a Radeon X600, Acer TravelMate 4100 laptop). The problem was
occurring in bog-standard GNOME after start up.

Interestingly, since applying a bunch of patches last night and a cold
start today (I keep up to date with Feisty updates, knowing it is a
development build), instead of the immediate crashes, the GNOME splash
now lists "loading the panel" 7 or 8 times on login, but does not crash;
I just receive "I`ve detected a panel already running". I guess it`s
possible the issue is being addressed by some other code changes. Will
keep an eye on things as I`ve had the crashing panel issue since Edgy`s
release.

As an aside, I can`t see any -dev packages for gnome-panel with Feisty,
or would have installed in order to provide more info :)

Erich: Actually the web browser widget or picture frame are from the
kdeplasma-addons source. So not a core part of the Plasma desktop. We
just seed those addons packages by default as they are good to have for
users. However, you are correct that when installed and a user tries to
add them to the desktop, the resulting crash does bring down the whole
desktop.

[Bug 2077103] [NEW] upgrade snapd-glib to v1.65 - Qt6 port required to build Qt6 plasma-discover snap backend

2024-08-15 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

Upgrade form v1.64 to v1.65 - Qt6 port required to build Qt6 plasma-
discover snap backend.

plasma-discover v 6.1.4 in proposed requires snapd-glib minimum v1.65 to
build its snap backend, as this version contains the first Qt6 port of
the Qt bindings/libs.

A build can be found at: https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-
ppa/+archive/ubuntu/staging-misc/+sourcepub/16399963/+listing-archive-
extra

armhf test issue is in progress upstream (see github link)

i386 qt6 build needs probably too much of the qt6 stack built for i386,
and would be unused anyway as discover is not built for i386, hence
disabling the qt build on i386

plasma-discover has been built/tested against this in our staging ppas

[Bug 1916390] [NEW] seeding a package that depends/recommends fuse3 causes livefs builds to fail

2021-02-21 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

Seeding a package that depends/recommends fuse3 causes livefs builds to
fail.

Examples:

kio-fuse: depends fuse3. Upstream KDE have requested/suggested that KDE
distro add this to their default install.

sshfs-fuse: a dependency of kdeconnect, which is a default recommends in
Kubuntu. Currently the version in Ubuntu is
3.6.0+repack+really2.10-0ubuntu1 as the real 3.x release from debian
depends now on fuse3, and so breaks ISO builds.

Example build failure with seeded kio-fuse: https://launchpad.net
/~ubuntu-cdimage/+livefs/ubuntu/hirsute/kubuntu/+build/261723

Looks like this may be fixed in gimp 2.10.22-3 from debian

https://tracker.debian.org/news/1236820/accepted-gimp-21022-3-source-
into-unstable/

I have synced that revision to hirsute.

[Bug 1713212] [NEW] changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker

2017-08-26 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

Our live image build in kubuntu CI using docker, now fails since changes
in 234-2ubuntu7 onwards.

log: https://kci.pangea.pub/job/iso_artful_stable_amd64/4/console

14:52:28 ln: cannot remove '/etc/resolv.conf': Device or resource busy
14:52:28 dpkg: error processing package systemd (--configure):
14:52:28 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit
status 1

234-2ubuntu7 changes:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/234-2ubuntu7

  * Always setup /etc/resolv.conf on new installations.
On new installations, /etc/resolv.conf will always exist. Move it to /run
and replace it with the desired final symlink. (LP: #1712283)
  * Create /etc/resolv.conf on resolved start, if it is an empty file.

I doubt eventually we will be the only ones to hit the issue.

[Bug 1293629] Re: [Regression] [Trusty] Unity can't be started from kdm

I haven't found out how to set XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP from mdm (Linux
Mint's fork of older gdm), so then when attempting to login to Gnome-

workaround (but still leaves XDG_CURRENT_DESTKOP unset):

in /usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-session.conf

change:

I would note that doing test builds on Kubuntu CI, both upstream 5.12

[Bug 1241811] Re: USB disk not automatically mounted after upgrade to 13.10

2014-06-04 Thread Rik Shaw
I also have this problem and if it is the same bug I have narrowed it
down to "lightdm".

I am using Mint 17 (based on Ubuntu 14.04). Mint's default login
manager is "mdm" (fork of gdm). With it, usb devices are auto-mounted
just fine when plugged in.

When I install lightdm and choose it as the login manager, after reboot
then devices *do not auto-mount anymore*. Just as the previous poster,
the dmesg output shows that the device is correctly found and attached,
but not mounted. When I click on the device in Nautilus or Nemo, it
will then mount just fine, but it needs this manual interaction.

If I then uninstall lightdm, choosing mdm again as the display manager,
upon reboot the auto-mounting of usb devices works just fine again.

So it must be something in lightdm for me. A udev rule not
finishing somehow triggered by lightdm? An upstart trigger involving
lightdm that hangs things up? Any advice on where to look from here
appreciated.

@romano-giannetti I see now that you indicate you are not using lightdm.
Can you confirm your login manager? If so we may have a different
problem, but everything else seems identical.

[Bug 2087950] [NEW] Please add kf6-extra-cmake-modules to i386 whitelist - RM src:extra-cmake-modules

2024-11-12 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

kf6-extra-cmake-modules replaces the old source extra-cmake-modules
source in debian and now plucky.

However src:extra-cmake-modules is on our i386 whitelist and kf6-extra-
cmake-modules is not, so kf6-extra-cmake-modulesneeds to build on i386
for remaining reverse build deps that still require this.

Once kf6-extra-cmake-module is successfully built on i386 and published
in release pocket, the old src:extra-cmake-modules should be removed as
was done in debian: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/extra-cmake-modules
