[Bug 370541] Re: Jaunty's GDM Autologin doesn't work anymore
I've tried to search for the exact command i've made, copied from the internet. Maybe was it "sudo update-rc.d gdm defaults 13 01" instead of "sudo update-rc.d gdm defaults", i did this cause i've been trying to remove gdm but i've seen that a lot of gnome functions were not avaliable without it, so i needed to reactivate it. Otherwise, i'm sorry but i can't help you anymore, cause i haven't got this problem anymore... But i follow this thread ! [Bug 256749] Re: Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume
Hi everyone, As I cannot upgrade to Ubuntu Jaunty (common & horrible ATI legacy videocard Linux Support issue), I can confirm that the following solution works for those who use Ubuntu 8.10 (or Linux Mint 6 (Felicia) in my case). (This fix was already suggested by Cecond Power in the post above) 1. Install the ntfs-config package through the Package Manager or your Terminal. 2. Make sure the problematic drives are unmounted (e.g. by rebooting). 3. Start the NTFS configuration tool found under 'administration' or 'settings' in your start menu. 4. Make sure the drives are selected in the tool and press ok. (and then ok again in the next screen). 5. Restart Linux and now the drives should mount automatically without issues. It is only a workaround but it gets things fixed. And it is an easy fix for those with little experience with Linux (like myself). -- Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/256749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 423106] [NEW] gnome sound recorder ogg format static clicks in ubuntu 9.04
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media gnome sound recorder appears to record in ogg format but on immediate playback [without saving it to a file first] I hear mainly clicking sounds and very very brief snippets [less than 10%] of what should have been recorded and that was barely audible. Also during the record I noticed the level to be lower on the meter than while recording with the other 3 formats listed below. I also found first saving the ogg format recording to a file and then playing it produced the same malformed result and playing it in vlc sounded the same. Another oddity is that once I used the ogg format and then any other recording format I tried in the same record window also behaved the same with garbled play back, however if I opened a new window and used any of the other three formats [flac, wav, spx] they again worked fine. recording in flac, wav and spx worked fine. This is on a T43p notebook with ubuntu 9.04 installed. I also download an ogg file online and asked gnome sound recorder to play it and that played fine. [Bug 1800749] Re: Ubuntu 18.10 doesn't like fullscreen mode for sauerbraten(game)
A little more info: _As soon as_ you switch sauerbraten(multiverse package) to fullscreen(Step 3, above) in Ubuntu 18.10, the system mouse pointer starts the flickering in the middle of the screen(about once a second). While moving the _game_ mouse pointer around, like in circles, the system mouse pointer ceases to flicker/interrupt the game. [Bug 1800749] Re: Ubuntu 18.10 doesn't like fullscreen mode for sauerbraten(game)
It appears that the xinput devices(keyboard/mouse) are being hijacked by desktop? As long as there is user input(keyboard/mouse activity) at least once second within Sauerbraten, everything works as expected in Ubuntu 18.10. Further bug info: I noticed that if you're moving forward with the 'w' key(with no mouse activity), and jump(press 'spacebar') while keeping the 'w' key pressed, the bug returns about a second later. The forward movement stops and the rogue mouse pointer returns to flickering, as if there is no user activity, or as if the user input activity has been cleared/reset. ***If you _don't_ jump while moving forward, the forward movement continues as expected and the rogue mouse pointer stays away. When there is no user input/activity for about 1 second, the flickering mouse pointer returns. Again, everything works as expected in Ubuntu 18.04. Thanks! PS. Sorting straces of Sauerbraten seem show a similar number of epoll calls as flickers of the rogue mouse pointer, but that was a hack at trouble-shooting and may be unrelated. Literally one pixel beyond the edges of the window. I've attached a screenshot that I hope illustrates this. You see two windows which were auto-placed by the window manager. If they didn't have scroll bars, they wouldn't overlap, but they do, by one pixel. Depending on which window is in the foreground, the rightmost pixel of the scroll bar is either below or above the other window. I see the same leak you do when interacting with the panel. In fact, just pressing the Meta key twice to bring up and hide the overview leaks 1 MiB of RAM each time. Even switching workspaces leaks memory. These are all things that jank once gnome-session's footprint has grown to unreasonable sizes, so presumably that jank is a symptom of bloated datastructures taking more cycles to negotiate. I've installed most of the debug symbol packages, and the attached Massif profile has far fewer unknowns. Ok I actually made it work. Not sure if this still belongs here, but might as well inform others how I fixed it. Maybe it will help you as well. Although I had never connected the iPhone to my PC before, I needed to reset the trust settings to get the dialogue option to "trust this device" on the iPhone. The procedure is quite simple. [Bug 1703466] [NEW] something continually steals focus, preventing interaction with any window
Public bug reported: Sometimes after unlocking the screensaver, Gnome is unusable because no window can be focused. Symptoms: * When a window is clicked, its decoration flashes to focused and then immediately changes back to unfocused. * The mouse cursor correctly changes when positioned over e.g. an input field, but no clicks get through to the application, nor do any keystrokes. * Global keyboard shortcuts like Meta and Ctrl+Alt+⇩ sporadically work a few times, but mostly have no effect. * The Gnome taskbar at the top of the screen accepts clicks and seems to work fine, but keyboard actions are also blocked. [Bug 1747773] [NEW] Session hangs completely for several minutes with "no app for changed" messages
Public bug reported: Once in a while the Gnome session wedges completely: no screen refresh, no mouse movement, etc. The system is still running and can be SSHed into. top via an SSH session shows no undue CPU load at this time, and no memory pressure. syslog has gnome-software "no app for changed" messages for many modules. I sigh, start remotely HUPing various applications ... and then the session returns as if nothing had happened. (Not sure if it would have done so without closing applications.) We'd better fix this before April. [Bug 1748321] [NEW] Sort order is bizarre, and can not be changed
Public bug reported: Create some test files as follows: $ touch 0110-0.jpg 0110-A.jpg 01A00010-0.jpg 03BBF000-0.jpg 3bA1A000-0.jpg 3BD22000-0.jpg A4AC3000-0.jpg 00011 00011.jpg 00021 View them at the command line and in Nautilus: $ ls -1 0110-0.jpg 0110-A.jpg 01A00010-0.jpg 03BBF000-0.jpg 3bA1A000-0.jpg 3BD22000-0.jpg A4AC3000-0.jpg 00011 00011.jpg 00021 $ nautilus . ls sorts files as one might expect. It is not case sensitive (unless you use a case sensitive locale, e.g. LANG=C), but sorts alphabetically. Nautilus sorts the files in a bizarre order, regardless of which locale is used. Weird behaviours include: * Longer but otherwise equal filenames sort before shorter ones * Sometimes ignores runs of zeros, but not punctuation * Seems to detect runs of digits and sort them at the end The actual behaviour is very complex and difficult to predict, though it must follow some internal logic. The end result is that files don't sort in any reasonable order. This also impacts some other applications, such as Eye of Gnome. Others, like Transmission, respect locale. [Bug 1542146] [NEW] Nautilus fails to preserve directory timestamp on move
Public bug reported: Move a directory using mv and its mtime will be preserved. Move a directory using Nautilus, and its mtime will be set to the time it was moved. This is a bug. Nautilus preserves mtime for file and directory copies as well as file moves. Moveover, if the user attempts to move a directory that the user does not have permission to delete (e.g. it is owned by another user), a copy will be created with the correct mtime. This indicates that Nautilus is taking an additional step that blats the mtime, but only on moves, and only after they have already successfully created the destination file. [Bug 1571138] [NEW] gnome-terminal resizes to entire desktop when un-maximised
Public bug reported: Start a gnome-terminal (it should start windowed, 80x24), then maximise it (by double clicking the title bar, clicking the maximise button, etc.); its title bar disappears and it is now correctly maximised. Now un-maximise the terminal (same way as before). It briefly flashes down to its former size and position, then instantly resizes to take up the entire desktop. So it looks like when it was maximised, except its title bar is still visible. Re-maximising and un-maximising from this state doesn't return the previous dimensions; the gnome-terminal has forgotten its original size.
