Same problem here, running an eeePC 1005 (Intel). This program was really buggy in 10.04, crashing frequently. [Bug 633786] [NEW] Runaway process when trying to access Windows Network in Nautilus
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs First instance occurred when clicking on the Network folder in the Ubuntu 'Places' menu, resulting in the error message appearing in screenshot-1. However, I don't seem to be able to reproduce the problem. Later instances occurred as follows (steps to reproduce): 1. Choose the Network bookmark, either from the Places menu or from the left pane in Nautilus. 2. Click on Windows Network. An 'Accessing Windows Network' message appears, with an option to cancel. 3. Click on the Cancel button. At this point a runaway gvfsd-smb-browse process will occur using 80-90% CPU (this is on an eeePC 1005HA), along with the message appearing in screenshot-2. [Bug 844385] [NEW] border for 3x3 squares not visible in most standard themes
Public bug reported: This is not so much a bug as a design problem in the latest version of gnome-sudoku, but it leads to serious playability issues. Since 3x3 squares are relevant to game play, there is typically a darker border around those squares as compared to the individual squares. The only theme where this border is in fact darker is high contrast inverse. With the high contrast them there is no border at all, even around the individual squares. With most others, (Adwaita, Ambiance) there is no difference in the thickness of the individual and 3x3 borders. The game should display correctly regardless of theme. [Bug 626016] Re: Swell Foop game does not work
The patch wasn't mine! I think it came from upstream and was posted here by Jonathan. Although, this may all be moot, since in 11.10 testing it looks like both swell-foop and lightsoff have been pulled from the gnome-games package - in fact they're gone from the repositories altogether. [Bug 828932] Re: can't focus Contact List while a conversation window is open
I should add that this remains a problem in the latest version of Unity in 11.10. The general bug summary is the following: 1. There are never problems if the Unity launcher is used to select a window - this always results in proper window focus. 2. To reproduce the bug (it doesn't happen 100% of the time, but it will always happen after a couple of tries) have Firefox or Empathy open on one workspace, and switch to another, and do something there (eg check email in Thunderbird). Then, return to the original workspace using the keyboard (Ctrl-Alt-Arrows) and use the mouse to select the window by clicking on it. 3. In the case of Empathy, you will not be able to get the application menu to show in the global appmenu. In the case of Firefox, things will seem to be working (eg clicking links will be fine) until you try to do something with a context menu (eg right clicking, or the drop-down menu in the URL bar). Sometimes clicking will fail to bring up the context menu at all, and when it does, it will disappear as soon as the mouse cursor is moved. 4. If I unfocus the window (eg by clicking on the desktop or changing back to another workspace) and then use the Launcher to refocus, normal behaviour returns. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/828932 Title: can't focus Contact List while a conversation window is open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/828932/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1751175] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not save metadata for FLAC files
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Ubuntu 17.10, Rhythmbox does not record the metadata entered in the "Extract" interface when converting CDs to FLAC files. (I have not checked to see if the same is true with mp3.) Expected behaviour: I load a CD, and Rhythmbox loads the metadata for the album from MusicBrainz (or I enter it manually if the album is not found). If I click Extract, the CD is converted to my preferred file format (in this case, FLAC), and the metadata is added to the resulting files. This was the case on Ubuntu 17.04 and earlier. Current behaviour: metadata is loaded from MusicBrainz as usual, but when I extract, most of it is not added to the files. If the metadata provided is Track Number, Artist, Album, Title, Genre, Disc number, and Year, I see the following: The title that results is the file name, for example: James Ehnes - 02 - Ravel: Berceuse sur le nom de Gabriel Fauré.flac The Artist, Album, Track Number, and Genre tags are not written. Curiously, the Disc number and year tags *are* written. More curiously, as a file is being converted, all the tags display in Rhythmbox as expected. But the moment the extraction reaches the end of the file, and the file is saved, the tags disappear. [Bug 1095962] Re: Empathy GUI does not start
I'm also seeing this. I've always used empathy -h in my startup applications so I'd be signed in in the background - I'd forget to sign in otherwise, but I also didn't want it popping up every time I signed in. In the past it would sign you in and then you could get the contacts list to pop up by clicking on the empathy icon in the email/chat indicator icon. Now with empathy -h the program seems to be running in the background, but there's no way to bring up the contacts list - trying to run empathy from the dash, terminal indicator icon, etc all fail. [Bug 633292] Re: Lights Off game doesn't work correctly
The problems with online games I would think are unrelated. I've found in the past (before Sun released a 64-bit java plugin) that the open source Iced Tea java plugin handles 95% of applets just fine, but there were a handful of specialised applets that wouldn't work. Check to see if you have sun-java6-plugin installed - I think Iced Tea might be the default (apologies if I'm totally wrong about this). Hi Martin, Immediate feedback is: huge improvement! The game is now playable. I don't have time to do a full test now but first impressions are good, and I'll add further comments once I get a chance to test further. It's been fixed in the latest version - follow Martin's instructions in #5 and you'll be up and running. (Just enable oneiric-proposed, reload, and update.) The borders are now there. [Bug 751783] [NEW] Can't select Thunderbird as Mail Reader in Preferred Applications
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center I'm running 11.04 Beta1, upgraded from 10.10 netbook edition. I have Thunderbird installed as my default email client. Since upgrading, Evolution is the only option given. However, I am able to choose between Firefox and Chromium for my web browser. Ideally, I should be able to select Thunderbird as my preferred email reader, so that when I click on Check Email in the Unity dash, Ubuntu opens Thunderbird rather than Evolution. I should add that this game does not display properly in every theme available on a standard Ubuntu install. I'm getting the suspend issue as well, in spite of setting things to "don't suspend" - surprisingly, it suspended even while playing music - I'd set a playlist to listen to while doing some work away from the computer, and had things come to a halt after 30 minutes. I am also seeing the old legacy notification icon for Empathy, and can find nowhere in the settings to remove it. No, the issue is that Empathy notifications are now built into the indicator-applet (the envelope icon), but if you allow 'all' in the system tray, you get an additional panel icon for Empathy, the legacy icon that existed prior to Ubuntu's new notification system. [Bug 663794] Re: Evince thumbnailer has high CPU load
I've noticed this problem too, but can't say what the specific issue is. When it happeneds on my machine nautilus is open in a directory with 10 or more pdf files (all of which were created with pdflatex) - at some point I notice a lot of activity in the CPU monitor I have running on my bottom panel, and when I open the system monitor it's always the evince thumbnailer that's the culprit. What can I do to generate a better bug report for this issue? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663794 Title: Evince thumbnailer has high CPU load -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
