[Bug 183896] Re: Inconsistent Rhythmbox "browse" behaviour
Just as the search filter has a "cancel" button, the browse filter should also have one. It would also be easy to make them share a button as well. My interface design advice would be this: as the user browses (for example to the artist Brad Sucks, then to the album Out Of It) the search box would be changed to read "Brad Sucks", then "Brad Sucks -> Out Of It". If the Browse interface is closed, that search remains until the user clears it. The search need not be plain-text: since the behaviour is slightly different, the text could be a few shades lighter than the default or something to differentiate it. Upon re-opening the "browse" menu, the same artist and album should be showed as when it was closed. -- Inconsistent Rhythmbox "browse" behaviour https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 157215] Re: Synchronizing with a time server does not work when time difference is greater than several hours
I just reproduced the same bug in Jaunty Jackalope -- using "Synchronize with time servers" does nothing. Meanwhile, there is no indication that the folder is loading. [Bug 154513] "All Files" is confusing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Recently I have been watching new users try out Ubuntu for the first time, and this is a problem that came up frequently. When a user is selecting files to open (for example, opening files to upload to Flickr) they are presented with a Nautilus window that lists directories, etc. In the lower right-hand corner, there is a box saying "All Files". Many users were clicking on that window repeatedly, and I asked them why. The common response was "Because I want to select all the files." They did not understand what the box was for, because the only option in the menu was "All Files". I see this as a bug in Nautilus because it presents false options, making the user interface less intuitive and thus confusing users. First of all, if there are no options for file types to open other than "All Files", then the menu should not even be there. It is simply clutter. If there is only one option to choose, why present the user with a control widget related to that non-choice? Either remove it entirely or grey it out. There should also be some helper text added into the menu, whether grayed out or not. The selected menu item should say "Currently displaying: [whatever type of file]". And the other items in the menu should say "Display [type of file]". This will make it clear that the menu is used to choose which types of files should be listed. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- "All Files" is confusing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154513 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 154513] Re: "All Files" is confusing
I'm guessing now that it's a GTK bug - please correct me if I'm wrong. -- "All Files" is confusing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154513 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 152773] Re: Taskbar is shared by all desktops
First of all, I object to the "wishlist" status. This is a serious usability bug, and Compiz's major problem right now is usability. If Compiz wants to be taken seriously by the majority of desktop users, it has to step up to the plate and provide at least basic usability features such as being able to see which windows are on which desktops -- and this bug demonstrates that that particular feature is not in place. I call that a bug, not a pie-in-the-sky wish. Second, if this bug is a duplicate, I would appreciate that it be marked as such so that I can see and contribute to the bug that it duplicates. I don't know how to answer your question, Sebastien. Can you make it more clear what it is that you want to know? Who is they?
