[Bug 648112] [NEW] Disabling the keyboard layout indicator only moves it to the notification area
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon This can be seen as an off-shoot from bug #519372. I wanted to remove the keyboard layout indicator applet, and so I applied the method suggested in that ticket: gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/general/disable_indicator -t bool true That did indeed remove the layout icon from the indicator applet, but now instead it appears in the notification area applet. I don't want it there either. Maverick as of today, gnome-settings-daemon is 2.31.92-0ubuntu1. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Disabling the keyboard layout indicator only moves it to the notification area https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648112 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 726480] Re: gnome-screensaver forces itself upon xscreensaver users
Can note that this still happens in Trusty, and since bug #726471 is fixed, this user level workaround now works: mkdir -p ~/.local/share/dbus-1/services cat < ~/.local/share/dbus-1/services/org.gnome.ScreenSaver.service [D-BUS Service] Name=org.gnome.ScreenSaver Exec= EOF On a side note, I do believe this is a bug in gnome screensaver. It should have a notion of whether or not it is supposed to be managing screensaving in the user session, and if not then it should respond to DBus clients with an appropriate error if they try to activate it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726480 Title: gnome-screensaver forces itself upon xscreensaver users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/726480/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 370110] [NEW] Disk mounter applet shows icons for dmraid component devices
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets I'm using dmraid to mount partitions in an Intel "Storage Matrix" software raid1 volume. The volume got three partitions, and I mount all three of them from fstab. Even so, the disk mounter applet shows six icons, two for each partition, in unmounted state. I strongly suspect that they represent the corresponding partitions from each component disk in the mirror raid. (I haven't tried to mount them in fear of messing up the raid.) The disk mounter should detect that such partitions belong to a dmraid set and filter them out. Jaunty, gnome-applets is 2.26.0-0ubuntu4. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Disk mounter applet shows icons for dmraid component devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/370110 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 370110] Re: Disk mounter applet shows icons for dmraid component devices
I don't know. As it turns out, the problem is intermittent (in intrepid it was not - there the extra icons were always present). [Bug 282906] Re: intrepid: gnome-sound-properties no longer allows enabling/disabling of system beep
FYI the Gnome bug has been resolved as invalid. Seems to be due to that the original issue in this report probably is valid (a tab is gone, but the option has only moved to another tab). However, the problems further down in this ticket are real. I got it too, and I managed to disable the bell sound by editing /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/bell_mode in gconf-editor. -- intrepid: gnome-sound-properties no longer allows enabling/disabling of system beep https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282906 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 727660] Re: The panel encountered a problem while loading... on a live session
Indeed, that is an interesting observation. I can confirm it: Out of three boxes I have with Natty, only one exhibits this behavior on a regular basis, and that is also the only one with autologin. [Bug 704105] Re: Resize grip always appears in bottom right of GTK+2.0 windows
The resize grips may be good for Unity users only using Unity-adapted applications, but the change has the wrong scope since it affects all resizable windows, regardless of desktop environment and window manager (personally i use Sawfish and enjoy a better solution to the resize problem). If it cannot be fixed the proper way, i.e. so that it only affects Unity, then please at least make it possible to disable at the user level, e.g. through a gconf setting. Imo this bug should have a higher importance; these things are disruptive for all non-Unity Ubuntu users. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/704105 Title: Resize grip always appears in bottom right of GTK+2.0 windows -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 485499] [NEW] The playing status sometimes doesn't update properly for internet stations
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I have a number of internet stations where I've pointed to playlists as locations. Here are some from SOMA FM: http://somafm.com/startstream=groovesalad.pls http://somafm.com/startstream=illstreet.pls http://somafm.com/startstream=dronezone.pls http://somafm.com/startstream=doomed.pls http://somafm.com/startstream=lush.pls http://somafm.com/startstream=missioncontrol.pls When I shift between these through double-clicking on the station name, the information about the currently playing station and song don't get updated timely, or at all. Here are some of the different kinds of inconsistencies: 1. The window title and the info box when hovering over the notification tray icon gets updated, but the song info directly below the toolbar still shows the song from the previously playing station, although it shows the new station name. This persists even when the station changes song (but the window title and the info box update properly). 2. The new station starts playing, but all three areas don't get updated until after a couple of seconds. When they do, the window title and the info box shows only the station name without song info, while the area under the toolbar shows the song. The status in the lower right corner is stuck on "Connecting" although the station is already playing. When the station changes song, the window title and the info box gets updated, but the area under the toolbar does not. My impression is that these problems are related to the use of the playlist indirection instead of pointing directly to the audio stream.
