[Bug 2080498] Re: Default session type changed from Xorg to Wayland in some installs of 22.04 on Nvidia hybrids since kernel 6.8

2024-12-16 Thread Dirk Su
Tested with BRCO-PV-SKU16-2_202312-33266 which has Nvidia dGPU. Install
OEM preload image on BRCO-PV-SKU16-2_202312-33266, it will install
nvidia-driver-550 but default to Wayland. Install gdm3
46.2-1ubuntu1~24.04.1 from noble-proposed. After system reboot, default
windowing system will change to Xorg.

[Bug 2084293] Re: HTML markup is not properly rendered in notification body

2024-12-16 Thread Julian Andres Klode
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

Notifications support markup, but this is not properly rendered in GNOME
  shell

  [ Test case ]

  From a terminal run:
- $ notify-send 'summary' 'Some bold text with a tag!'
+  $ notify-send 'summary' 'Some bold text with a tag!'

A notification should show with this content (where text between asterisks is
in bold):
- Some *bold text* with a tag!
+  Some *bold text* with a tag!
+
+ Ensure that
+  $ notify-send 'summary' 'Some bold text with a < tag!'
+
+ is handled gracefully, that is, doesn't crash.

  [ Regression potential ]

Really nothing, a property that doesn't exist anymore was referenced

[Bug 2084293] Re: HTML markup is not properly rendered in notification body

$ git tag --contains 7f476e05
46.1
...
47.0

[Bug 2026255] Re: New windows have confused sizing when monitors are set to different scaling factors

I have found the same issue. In Ubuntu 24.04 LTS under Wayland, with my
main (laptop) monitor at 200%, and an external display at 100%, if I
open a window (e.g. a terminal in the 200% monitor), the moment I click
anywhere else, the window gets resized to half the size.

I also realized that it doesn't happen when fractional scaling is
enabled, in case anyone arrives here looking for a solution for double
monitor setup.

Did you report it in mutter at the end? I can't find the issue there.

The fix for this bug was backported upstream to mutter 46.3:

Looking at the release history of mutter in past Ubuntu LTS releases, it
seems likely we'll eventually get the latest mutter 46.x in Ubuntu

[Bug 2072569] Re: Sending a folder won't work with nautilus-sendto and a snapped mail client

In 24.04, I installed Nautilus 1:46.2-0ubuntu0.3 and nautilus-sendto is
installed.

I installed Thunderbird and Claws-Mail, the former being the default in
Settings -> Apps -> Default Apps.

I opened Nautilus, right clicked one folder, and observed that no
"email" option existed in the context menu.

Then I right clicked a file, and observed that an "email" option existed
in the cpontext menu.

Then I changed the default to Claws-Mail and right clicked a folder in
Nautilus. I observed that an "email" option existed in the context menu.

[Bug 2091864] [NEW] Cannot enter luks password at boot after kernel 6.8.0-50 upgrade

Public bug reported:

Upgraded Ubuntu 24.04 software, including kernel 6.8.0-50, after which
upon booting the luks password couldn't be entered (dialog
unresponsive). Was able to boot 6.8.0-49. Could boot 6.8.0-50 with quiet
splash commented out - with text input.

Added i915 (my video driver) to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and updated
initrd, after which could boot 6.8.0-50.

[Bug 2091891] [NEW] Passwords and Keys (seahorse) find remote keys hangs

Public bug reported:

The Passwords and Keys (seahorse) "find remote keys" dialog never
finishes when searching for a key on keyserver.ubuntu.com.

Seahorse does find keys associated with the search term, but the keys
are grayed out. A progress bar at the bottom of the window makes it
almost to the end, but never completes. The search just doesn't finish.

Searching for keys using the command line works just fine.

[Bug 2091833] [NEW] Keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift not possible to set

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In Settings, I want to change shortcut for keyboard layout switch, from
default Super+Space to Alt+Shift (Windows standard). When I try to do
this, settings says "Enter new shortcut" (localized version of it), but
pressing Alt and then Shift brings no reaction from this window, like if
nothing is pressed. I can only set other shortcut like Alt-E for
example, that works.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

[Bug 2037076] Re: System Details incorrectly shows multiple GPUs

Fixed upstream in GNOME 48 presumably. I can't get more details right
now because GNOME's git server is down.

[Bug 2011350] Re: ERROR:../src/nautilus-gtk4-helpers.c:116:gtk_widget_get_first_child: assertion failed: (GTK_IS_CONTAINER (widget))

Thanks for the patch. In GNOME the preferred way to do this is with:

  https://docs.gtk.org/glib/func.return_val_if_fail.html

Actually that's exactly what the official version of
gtk_widget_get_first_child in GTK4 does.

Please then propose the fix at:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/merge_requests

to the gnome-42 branch (sorry I can't check it right now because the
server is down). Or alternatively if the GNOME developers tell you 42 is
too old for them to support then please propose the fix at:

  https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/nautilus/-/merge_requests

to the ubuntu/jammy branch.

Finally, in order to get the fix released to 22.04, the bug description
needs to be updated:
