[Bug 406825] Re: Hide kthreadd by default

2019-12-03 Thread Anonymous
bump. Doesn't appear fixed, in ubuntu 14.04 kthreadd processes are still
shown and expanded, by default. And if I close them, it somehow re-
expands itself. Please give us and option to completely hide kthreadd in
the task manager.

Thanks for sending the report to GNOME! One extra question to make sure
the bug is correctly undestood, issue is happening on the client side
right? (the computer you are using to copy file to another/server one)?

[Bug 1854912] [NEW] Installation stuck at 0%

2019-12-03 Thread Clinton H
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 19.10
2) 3.30.6-2ubuntu10.19.10.0
3) I searched for "Pinta" in Unbuntu Software. I clicked the installation
button, I expected it to install.
4) The install got stuck at 0% for several minutes. I was able to load a
webpage, so my internet connection was good. I cancelled the installation of
Pinta. Launch and Remove buttons appeared. If I click the launch button,
nothing happens. Pinta is listed on the install screen. If I click the Remove
button, I get a removal confirmation message. If I click the Remove button,
there is a "Unable to remove Pinta" notification.

[Bug 1854912] Re: Installation stuck at 0%

2019-12-03 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1854912

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I would also suggest seeking support. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709.

Problems could be using a out-of-date mirror (have you checked your
mirror is up-to-date? https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors),
http/https ports are not being stopped by firewall/proxy, but ports used
to download software are being actively stopped thus your issue. These
are support issues, and not bugs. You may be using a
university/corporate internet service which restricts certain traffic
etc, no details of which have been provided. Please provide more
details.

[Bug 1854838] [NEW] During soft power cycle test, the option to shut down not available in Ubuntu

2019-12-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

18.04 LTS

During soft power cycle test, the option to shut down not available in
Ubuntu. This occurred 4/1000 times during test. Power needed to be
removed from the unit in order to power down.

Test steps -
1) Press power button on unit with power connected
2) Wait for system to boot - verify by observing Ubuntu OS "user select" screen
3) Select the power button/icon
4) Select "power off" from the available options
Repeat steps 1-4 1000 times.

Expected result -
Each time the user selects the power button/icon they will be presented with
options to power off or restart the unit.

Actual result -
Of 1000 cycles, 4 cycles resulted in the system not presenting the options to
power off or restart the unit.

[Bug 1833832] Re: NVIDIA kernel module fails with KMS on optimus hardware

2019-12-03 Thread Victor
Although the bug seemed fixed, the same happened to me today. I'm using
a Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM and the Ubuntu 19.10, and
after I've done a fresh install and rebooted the system, I couldn't
login. My Xorg log was the same as the reported above and the resolution
was the same, but I made some alterations on the GRUB, as this tutorial
recommends:

  2) 3.30.6-2ubuntu10.19.10.0
  3) I searched for "Pinta" in Unbuntu Software. I clicked the installation
button, I expected it to install.
  4) The install got stuck at 0% for several minutes. I was able to load a
webpage, so my internet connection was good. I cancelled the installation of
Pinta. Launch and Remove buttons appeared. If I click the launch button,
nothing happens. Pinta is listed on the install screen. If I click the Remove

there is a "Unable to remove Pinta" notification.

[Bug 1854912] Re: Installation stuck at 0%

2019-12-03 Thread Clinton H
Problems could be using a out-of-date mirror (have you checked your
mirror is up-to-date?

I am using the default "Software and Update" repository settings. No
mirrors.

http/https ports are not being stopped by firewall/proxy, but ports used to
download software are being actively stopped thus your issue.

I enabled UFW. I was able to download and install the Gnome extensions
"cpufreq" and "NetSpeed". I can download software using APT in the
terminal. If I open Ubuntu Software, I get the following message:

"Unable to download firmware updates from "fwupd": failed to download
https://cdn.fwupd.org/downloads/firmware.xml.gz: Cannot connect to the
destination."

These are support issues, and not bugs. You may be using a university/corporate
internet service which restricts certain traffic etc, no details of which have
been provided. Please provide more details.

I am using regular home internet.

[Bug 1641417] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 unable to detect/connect to and work properly with iPhone 4.

2019-12-03 Thread indigocat
Hi, #3 is *still* an issue, as I can't access my iPod, which is
recognized by the USB subsystem, but file managers in general only seem
to access it via gphoto2:// protocol instead of afc:// (which seems to
be recognized as a network protocol).

Syncing files via Rhythmbox or Banshee isn't possible anymore due to this bug.
Entering afc://{devide_uuid} on any file manager allows for accessing the
iPod's filesystem and copying the music folder manually, but this is only
useful as a music backup procedure.

Transferring music *to* the iPod in a way that the device will recognize
is impossible, and has been so at least for the past 3 years.
