Bug#748734: Latest upgrades breaks french keyboard

2014-05-20 Thread Erwan David
Package: xkb-data
Version: 2.11-1
Severity: normal

Since latest upgrade, numeric keypad dot key does not produce a dot
anymore but a comma. Thus it does not produce what is written on the
key

Here is /etc/default/keyboard

XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch,compose:menu,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp,altwin:meta_win"

I also checked : this breaks the unicity of configuration
between text console and X11, since with this version I get a
dot on text console and a comma in X11. We could say this breaks the
keyboard-configuration package

Bug#750664: src:xcb-util-renderutil: use dh-autoreconf to fix FTBFS on ppc64el

2014-06-05 Thread Erwan Prioul

Package: src:xcb-util-renderutil
Version: 0.3.8-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

For the ppc64el architecture in Ubuntu, since this package uses libtool,
a full autoreconf is necessary. This is because we need new libtool
macros for ppc64el.

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * Build using dh-autoreconf.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Erwan Prioul.

Bug#318851: xbase-clients : uninstallable due to dependency to libglu1 and not libglu1c2

2005-07-18 Thread Erwan David
Package: xbase-clients
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

xbase-clients still depends on libglu1, the old C++ ABI library, no
longer available.

This makes it uninstallable, but it still has the basic clients and utilities
(like xauth or startx).

A workaround would to be to remove from xbase-clients the 3D enabled
clients, keeping the basic ones, or to recompile the 3D enabled with
the new libglu1c2.

Bug#234081: Complement

2004-04-14 Thread Erwan David
This double modifier breaks emacs (maybe not the debian
package a emacs21 from SuSE on distant display), which sees a M-s
modifier when I press Meta.

However using a .xmodmap with

remove Mod4 = Meta_L
add Mod3 = Meta_L

makes everything wrok great.

I think the option should do this, but do not know howxkb works and
where to patch.

Bug#254997: xlibs: [xkb] broken modifiers in french keymap

This breaks (x)emacs.

I get a normal behaviour by using following xmodmap :

If I use xtermset to set the names, everything works fine. Thus it
seems that the -n and -T options reencode their argument to an iso
charset.

Bug#368570: xdm : cannot start, looks for daemon in wrong directory

2006-05-23 Thread Erwan David
Package: xdm
Version: 1:1.0.1-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrade xdm does not start. /etc/init.d looks for xdm in
/usr/bin/X11/xdm, but there is no xdm in this directory, it is in
/usr/bin/xdm

Bug#476654: dexconf: DisplaySize option of monitor should be managed

2008-04-18 Thread Erwan David
Package: x11-common
Version: 1:7.2-5
Severity: normal

The xorg.conf file generated by dexconf does not have a DisplaySize
option for the monitor. The effect is that some programms (audacious,
firefox 3beta, googleearth) display far too small fonts when the pitch
is not the default 75x75dpi. This option should be mangaed by debconf
and dexconf to make them usable.

Bug#535311: xkb-data : same modifier for 2 different keys

2009-07-01 Thread Erwan David
Package: xkb-data
Version: 1.6-1
Severity: normal

With the following settings in my xorg.conf

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "fr"
Option "XkbVariant""latin9"
Option "XkbOptions""altwin:left_meta_win,compose:menu"
EndSection

I get the following error in my xemacs
(1) (key-mapping/warning)
The meanings of the modifier bits Mod1 through Mod5 are determined
by the keysyms used to control those bits. Mod1 does NOT always
mean Meta, although some non-ICCCM-compliant programs assume that.

(2) (key-mapping/warning)
Two distinct modifier keys (such as Meta and Hyper) cannot generate
the same modifier bit, because Emacs won't be able to tell which
modifier was actually held down when some other key is pressed. It
won't be able to tell Meta-x and Hyper-x apart, for example. Change
one of these keys to use some other modifier bit. If you intend for
these keys to have the same behavior, then change them to have the
same keysym as well as the same modifier bit.

(3) (key-mapping/warning) XEmacs: Super_R (0x74) generates Mod4, which is
generated by Meta.

Which means a Super and a meta key generate same modifier
