I'm afraid I cannot perform these experiments. Upon trying it, I see that my other video output is an ADC connector, not a DVI connector. http://redwald.deadbeast.net/tmp/debian_bug_348082_damn_ati_connectors.jpeg > Also, if you have an analog monitor (VGA connector). it'd be nice to > test that to make sure we actually have the dac mapping correct. Another disappointment -- I got rid of my last CRT monitors earlier this year. Given these setbacks, is there something more I can do to help with this bug? -- G. Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.1.1-2 Severity: wishlist Hi! I tried to install the version from experimental, but failed, as it seems because of a new abi version. The new xserver-xorg-core package and a couple drivers (including the intel one) are available using the following line in your /etc/apt/sources.list. deb http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/debian ./ I am marking your bug as fixed in 2:2.1.1-3 which is available there and should be uploaded in the near future. I tend to not consider 6.7.192 as ready for unstable yet. I think it can stay in experimental for now. There shouldn't be any ABI bump for a while, so it will be easy for people to use it with Xserver from unstable. I'd rather keep using 6.6.x in unstable for now since those are pretty stable. But, the packaging of 6.6.3-2 is very outdated, so I am inclined to just put 6.6.193 in unstable (actually 6.6.193 + several fixes from the upstream ati-6.7-branch). There shouldn't be any regression there. Both 6.6.193-3 (for unstable) and 6.7.192-3 (for experimental) are in the repo at the URL above, and ready to push in my git tree. As explained by Michel earlier, it's much more than a couple lines of code, it requires lots of work. That may never happen unfortunately... Bug#441181: xserver-xorg-video-ati: does not detect monitor

So there are 2 major release candidates that you could try: * 1:6.6.193-1 is the natural successor of 1:6.6.3-2 with several fixes, it is available from http://people.debian.org/~bgoglin/ati-for-sid/ * Then the driver got a large rework, especially in the area regarding monitor/mode detection, with randr-1.2 support. So 1:6.7.192-1 is available for unstable from http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2007/08/05/debian/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-ati/ Please try with any of these versions.
