I just tried the Etch debian-installer RC1 on a Sun Ultra 80 and I believe this bug is relevant there. Alas the current workaround is using the fbdev driver - but display depths of 24 and 16 didn't work, so it is currently 1280x1024x8 bits :( The kernel reports: fb0: Permedia2v frame buffer device, memory = 8192K. Bug#398589: Broke kdm respaw
Hi Otavio, the core file you sent is not really usable as Xorg catches the SIGSEGV, so the core file is only showing an abort. In order to get a backtrace from the segfault, you need to run gdb on an X server with debugging symbols enabled, which will then give a much more informative backtrace. I wonder where these diffs are coming from. I copy/pasted the Screen section
in xorg.conf, to have one for each resolution. The only changes between
yesterday's logs were to switch comments in
Section "ServerLayout"
