Commit 809e2841aaa54662a42498aacec558bc813bba1c on master and
66b2c9bd2dddf8f8410147ebf1de7a6c045d8249 on server-1.2-branch in the

Yes, this is a known deficiency of the documentation. You can try Option
"NoPM" in Section "ServerFlags" (xorg.conf manpage) or the -noacpi
command line switch.

Package: xserver-xorg-video-savage

KDM doesn't restart anymore when user logoff. I did a test and it
works fine wih 2.1.1-4 version so shouldn't be too difficult to
identify which change broke it.

If you wish any more testing, let me know.

17:17 < aba> jcristau: #362996
17:22 < jcristau> I think the xserver-xorg maintainer script take care of
updating the paths when transitioning old XF86Config to xorg.conf
17:24 < aba> ok, so we just consider that irrelevant (except to have an hint to
the wiki entry about the transition, which we have anyways)
17:30 < jcristau> I think so, yes

So, this is done as well. Thanks.

Andi

I added documentation for that into the release notes.

Can you send your complete X log and xorg.conf to the bug, please?
It's harder to debug such problems without the log (should be
/var/log/Xorg.0.log).

Hi,

can you try rebuilding the X server with debugging symbols, and get a
more meaningful backtrace (probably by running gdb from the console, or
by getting a core file)?

Thanks,
Julien

The X server comes from the xorg-server source package, which you should
be able to build with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip.

Bug#388329: xserver-xorg: Xserver doesn't detect video card on multidomain PCI machine as Sun Ultra 80

2006-11-14 Thread A. Maitland Bottoms
I just tried the Etch debian-installer RC1 on a Sun Ultra 80
and I believe this bug is relevant there.

Alas the current workaround is using the fbdev driver - but display
depths of 24 and 16 didn't work, so it is currently 1280x1024x8 bits :(

The kernel reports:
fb0: Permedia2v frame buffer device, memory = 8192K.

I'm not sure that is right, I thought it would be more like 64M, but
xserver-xorg doesn't seem to accept my value for VideoRam, and
runs with a blank screen unless at depth 8.

I forget to bring this up on the mailing list. I thought it was funny that
mesa-utils was apparently not built from the sources in the mesa source
package.

While I'm aware that the utilities themselves don't really change that much, I
still think it would be useful to provide them by the mesa package. That way
they'll always be automatically up-to-date. It is also one package less
needing updates.

Since the Debian XSF is the current maintainer of the mesa-utils package, I
wanted to ask on this list whether there were any objections to having mesa
provide the mesa-utils package.

2006-11-14 Thread Svante Signell
I have now also tried xserver-xorg-video-tdfx version 1.1.1 with same
results. Maybe the problem lies with libxxf86dga1 (2:1.0.1-2) or in
libgl1-mesa-dri, see below?? Can somebody give a hint on how to best
debug this driver?

Bug#398589: Broke kdm respaw

2006-11-14 Thread Julien Cristau
Hi Otavio,

the core file you sent is not really usable as Xorg catches the SIGSEGV,
so the core file is only showing an abort.
In order to get a backtrace from the segfault, you need to run gdb on an
X server with debugging symbols enabled, which will then give a much
more informative backtrace.

Cheers,
Julien

The problem here is I don't know how to simulate it without using the
KDM and how could I do to make KDM to attach gdb on it?

Hi!

I am tagging this bug as unreproducible. Updating to latest Xorg it
seems that things are stable again (and not freezing anymore like 2
months ago).
If the system keeps stable for one week I will close this bug.

Thank you!

A vulnerability has been found in libx11:
The Xinput module (modules/im/ximcp/imLcIm.c) in X.Org libX11 1.0.2
and 1.0.3 opens a file for reading twice using the same file
descriptor, which causes a file descriptor leak that allows local
users to read files specified by the XCOMPOSEFILE environment variable
via the duplicate file descriptor.

I wonder where these diffs are coming from. I copy/pasted the Screen section
in xorg.conf, to have one for each resolution. The only changes between
yesterday's logs were to switch comments in
