Bug#514327: RFP: openfoam -- OpenFOAM-1.5 debian package
In case you did not see the message I also sent to 514...@bugs.debian.org and you might be interested. We hope to issue next week. There is a 'fork' of OpenFoam: FreeFoam (http://sourceforge.net/projects/freefoam/), done by Michael Wild and me. The changes are in the building (using CMake), installation using LSB: (/usr/lib/FreeFoam/*, /usr/bin/* , /etc/FreeFoam), and usage (no ENVIRONMENTAL settings needed. It seems to work fine, but we are still testing it. I already have had a look at Paraview and cdbs technology (which is new to me) how I might be able to deb FreeFoam. The files have not yet been uploaded to sf.net or at the repo.or.cz git repository. Michael asked me to wait with publishing the software (he holds the sf account) It has been 1 month I had the last contact with Michael and he did not respond last week. I will try again and eventually issue FreeFoam on the git repository. Bug#515789: ITP: mgridgen(-mpi) -- Program for generating course grids
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Gerber van der Graaf * Package name: mgridgen(-mpi) Version : 1.0.0 Upstream Author : Irene Moulitsas * URL : http://www.cs.umn.edu/~moulitsa/software.html * License : (Unspecified, I will contact upstream authors for (GNU) licence agreement and permission of distribution in Debian) Programming Lang: (C) Description : Program for generating course grids MGRIDGEN and PARMGRIDGEN are serial and parallel software packages that implement various algorithms for generating a sequence of coarse grids. The generated coarse grids contain well-shaped elements and thus they are well-suited for geometric multigrid methods. PARMGRIDGEN is an MPI-based parallel library that is based on the serial package MGRIDGEN and it is suited for parallel numerical simulations involving large unstructured grids since the algorithms incur a very small communication overhead, achieve high degree of concurrency and maintain the high quality of the coarse grids obtained by the serial algorithms in the MGRIDGEN library. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#515789: not free: so lost interests
As upstream authors of this package did not reply on any request for distribition within Debian and licencing is unclear but definitely not free, I have lost interests in packaging this software. Bug#528662: ITP: freefoam -- freefoam software package for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Gerber van der Graaf * Package name: freefoam Version : 0.1.0 Upstream Author : Michael Wild * URL : http://www.freefoam.wiki.sourceforge.net * License : GPL Programming Lang: C++ Description : software for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) FreeFOAM is a fork of the OpenFOAM CFD software package, containing more than 200 programs for pre-processing, simulation and for post-processing. Therefore it uses the control volume method or finite difference scheme. The software can simulate anything from complex fluid flows involving chemical reactions, turbulence and heat transfer, to solid dynamics, electromagnetics and the pricing of financial options. .. Compared to OpenFOAM, the building system has been modified to CMake, will also compile and run on case-insensitive file systems and installs configuration, libraries, headers and binaries following LSB standards. Its use won´ require specific ENVIRONMENTAL settings or has been reduced to a minimum. So all programs will work like any other available binary on the Computer system. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#354150: Subject: ITP: libgpiv -- Library for Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)
Package: wnpp Owner: Gerber van der Graaf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Severity: wishlist *** Please type your report below this line *** * Package name: libgpiv Version : 0.3.2 Upstream Author : Gerber van der Graaf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://gpiv.sourceforge.net/ * License : GPL Description : Library for Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) This library contains functions for evaluating images from a fluid flow by means of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), resulting into a velocity field on a rectangular grid. It includes the core functions for image acquiring, processing, interrogation, PIV data validation, post-processing, input/output and memory allocation. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) I have package this library and two others that make use of it; gpivtools; a package containing more than 40 command-line programs and scripts and gpiv; a GTK/Gnome GUI program. As upstream author of the package I noticed that compiling and installing of the software by users seems to be an obstacle to use this software. Therefore I am very interested in providing (and maintaining) the binary package. The motivation fo rchoosing Debian is because I am convinced that Debian is the most reliable GNU/Linux distro available, regarding from a technological point of view and, most of all, because of its open-source and open-minded policy, without depending on corporate interests. Bug#354152: Subject: ITP: gpivtools --Command line programs for Particle Image Velocimetry
Package: wnpp Owner: Gerber van der Graaf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Severity: wishlist Version: 0.3.2-1 Upstream Author: Gerber van der Graaf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://gpiv.sourceforge.net/ * License : GPL Description : Command line programs for Particle Image Velocimetry A collection of programs for recording and interrogating images that are generated during a Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) experiment. This is a technique to obtain the velocity field of a fluid flow quantitatively and is performed by tracking tracer particles that have been seeded to a fluid. The technique is also applied for observing deformations at surfaces of (solid) bodies. The package contains: . an image recording program that uses an IEEE1394 (Firewire) IIDC-compliant camera and a program for triggering the camera with a light source (mostly a double cavity Nd-YAG laser). Trigger pulses are sent over the parallel port of the computer using RealTimeLinux and RTAI. . an image processing program for typical filtering and manipulation routines that may be convenient for PIV. . an image interrogation program resulting into estimators of particle image displacements. . validation programs to test on outliers, peak-locking effect and velocity gradients. . post-processing programs for data manipulation (flipping, rotation etc), spatial and time scaling, calculation of spatial averages and derivatived quantities from the PIV data, like vorticity and strain. . miscelaneous programs and scripts to perform image format conversion, batch-processing, pipeline processing (image evaluation, validation and post-processing at once), calculation of time averages from a series of PIV data sets, data-visualization and data-manipulation. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) I packaged this software together with the belonging libgpiv package and an additional GTK/Gnome GUI program gpiv. Bug#528662: progress packaging freefoam
Hi, Here is some information on the progress of packaging FreeFOAM. If there is somebody who would like to assist / collaborate, just let me know. Packaging FreeFOAM against release 0.1.0rc4 is starting to get in good shape, including building from source using pbuilder. Currently, the next binary packages will be build: - libfreefoam: libraries for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - libfreefoam-dev: libraries for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - development files - freefoam: programs for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - freefoam-user-doc: software for Computational Fluid Dynamics - user documentation - freefoam-dev-doc: software for Computational Fluid Dynamics - developers documentation Though there are still some issues: - Some lintian errors and warnings - Building with MPI enabled needs non-free parmgridgen-dev as libscotchparmetis does not yet cover fully the libparmgridgen functionality (see bug #582489). So, for the moment the FreeFOAM packages will have to reside in contrib :( - Waiting until formal first FreeFOAM release will be issued. Upstream developer is working on that. Bug#528662: activity on freefoam
Though no activity has been seen on the packaging of freefoam, there is still work in progress. Upstream author of FreeFOAM is completely re-writing the UserGUIDE. Even though the UserGUIDE for OpenFOAM has been issued under the GPL licence, the source of the text (it was written in latex) has never been provided. This prohibited to include the freefoam-userdoc package included in Debian/Main. Therefore, the whole writing has been re-done from scratch, this time using Asciidoc, and adapted for the FreeFOAM software. Once this job will be finished, it is hoped that a new release of the freefoam-* packages will be issued, soon. A pre-release of the debian packages can be found at my personal repository by incuding the following lines in /etc/apt/sources.list: deb ftp://mndeupm.upc.es/debian ./ deb-src ftp://mndeupm.upc.es/debian ./ Gerber -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
