Bug#984936: O: setcolortemperature -- Set screen color temperature

2021-03-10 Thread Jacob Adams
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the setcolortemperature package. It hasn't seen pretty much
any changes upstream for several years at this point, and has at least one
major outstanding issue that I'm aware of (lack of multi-screen support).

In the meantime, xsct, derived from the same original code, has been actively
maintained upstream and has introduced many fixes to the original code. There
is now an ITP for xsct (#984779), and so I think it is time to retire this
package once xsct is introduced into debian. Ideally there would also be some
kind of transition sct package so as not to leave old users of
setcolortemperature behind.

Bug#984779: transition to xsct

2021-03-10 Thread Jacob Adams
I just filed #984936 orphaning setcolortemperature in preparation for xsct to
enter the archive.
I think setcolortemperature should be replaced by xsct, since it is much better
maintained upstream.

I had actually been thinking about doing some kind of transition to xsct for a
while but never got around to it.
Thanks to Mike for actually taking this on, sorry for leaving the
setcolortemperature package in a mostly abandoned state for so long.

long long ago I intended to package FlatCAM.

I stopped working on this due no response from upstream regarding
questions related to Qt5 Python bindings so far I remember.

Why do you want to name the package flatcam-beta?

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for confirming your intentions for qalculate, I'm happy to
take it on. Please could I ask you to transfer the repo to the Debian
group in salsa and add me (emorrp1) as a Maintainer?

I couldn't find a more appropriate team, so I'll probably just use the
tracker address as Maintainer. I've also done an initial triage of the
bugs and cc'd the new ubuntu maintainer to hopefully collaborate.

Bug#984937: ITP: flatcam-beta -- PCB CAM software (beta release)

2021-03-10 Thread Romain Porte
Hi,

The only discussion I was able to find is this one:

https://bitbucket.org/jpcgt/flatcam/issues/221/intent-to-package-flatcam-for-debian

It seems that upstream is now correctly using pyqt5, at least in their
Beta branch.

> Why do you want to name the package flatcam-beta?

Because flatcam's master branch itself seems abandonned since 2019 and
misses a lot of useful features. As long as upstream is not making a
proper release and is keeping development in the Beta branch, I am only
interrested in using (and packaging) flatcam-beta and not flatcam itself.

See https://bitbucket.org/jpcgt/flatcam/branches/ for the difference
between the two versions: 2865 commits.

I do not intent to update everytime a new Beta release is made, but want
to be able to install Flatcam Beta easily without running into a lot of
dependencies issues that I am currently facing with upstream's Beta branch.

Any thoughs on this approach are welcome!

Romain.

Bug#984947: RFP: node-types-filesystem -- type definitions for File System API

  Programming Lang: TypeScript
Description : type definitions for File System API

The latest version of Chromium (which is bundled in Qt WebEngine) has some
TypeScript code that I am trying to build with system compiler and types
definitions (otherwise I will have to bundle its node_modules directory…).
I have found virtual packages like node-types-codemirror and node-types-estree
that provide some types needed by Chromium.

But one of the missing bits is @types/filesystem/index.d.ts, which I was not
able to find anywhere.

It is available on NPM with the link mentioned above.

Not sure if relevant, but someone seemingly comments that File API
should be included as part of default Typescript library:

e.g. as ReportLab Platypus Flowable objects or in RML. As a command-line
tool it converts SVG files into PDF ones (but adding other output
formats like bitmap or EPS is really easy and will be better supported,
soon).

I intent to maintain this package under the umbrella of the Debian
Python Team. It is introduced as a dependency for flatcam-beta [1].

Bug#984779: transition to xsct

I think setcolortemperature should be replaced by xsct, since it is
much better maintained upstream.

I had actually been thinking about doing some kind of transition to
xsct for a while but never got around to it.
Thanks to Mike for actually taking this on, sorry for leaving the
setcolortemperature package in a mostly abandoned state for so long.

Thanks Jacob! Much appreciated!

I've transfered both projects:

- https://salsa.debian.org/debian/qalculate-gtk

And you're set as maintainer.

Thanks,
