Bug#475452: vislcg3 PKGBUILD

2012-11-12 Thread Kevin Brubeck Unhammer
There's a PKGBUILD for Arch Linux at
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vislcg3/ which might be helpful.

The main runtime dependency is libicu-dev. Build depends on cmake and
libboost-dev (and optionally libgoogle-perftools-dev, it performs faster
with it, so I would include that if possible).

hope this helps,
Kevin Brubeck Unhammer

Bug#686557: bug 686557 is ITP for package haskell-pcap already in Debian

2012-11-12 Thread Mònica Ramírez Arceda
Hi Hector,
There is already a package haskell-pcap in Debian:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/h/haskell-pcap.html

Since I suppose it's the same package you want to ITP,
you should close this bug :)

Cheers!

Haskell bindings for most of the libpcap API as of libpcap version 0.9.7. The

Network.Pcap.Base, and a higher-level module, Network.Pcap, that's easier to

Bug#693044: ITP: proteowizard -- library to perform proteomics data analyses

2012-11-12 Thread Filippo Rusconi
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Filippo Rusconi

* Package name: proteowizard
  Version : 3.0.4098
Upstream Author : Spielberg Family Center for Applied Proteomics
* URL : http://proteowizard.sourceforge.net/
* License : Apache License Version 2.0
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : library to perform proteomics data analyses

ProteoWizard provides a modular and extensible set of open-source,
cross-platform tools and libraries. The tools perform proteomics data
analyses; the libraries enable rapid tool creation by providing a
robust, pluggable development framework that simplifies and unifies
data file access, and performs standard chemistry and LCMS dataset
 computations.
 .
The primary goal of ProteoWizard is to eliminate the existing
barriers to proteomic software development so that researchers can
focus on the development of new analytic approaches, rather than
having to dedicate significant resources to mundane (if important)
 tasks, like reading data files.

JFTR: The already packaged python-landslide[1] seems to provide similar
features by converting Markdown (or ReST or Textile) to Google's HTML5
Slides[2].

Nevertheless I still would like to see mdpress in Debian, too. :-)

The package is there, but somehow the compile process doesn't file the header.

2012-11-12 Thread Fabio Fantoni
At the moment Nemo doesn't make substantial changes but I think they
make it more usable compared to new nautilus and even slightly to
nautilus 3.4.
Speaking for myself now the only shortcoming is rabbitvcs extension,
excluding some minor issues.
About debian package it is not bad, Nicolas Bourdaud seems to have
already started to improve it.

Bug#629008:

2012-11-12 Thread Alexandre Viau
The lib might not be ready for packaging right now.

Contacted the upstream devs and this was the answer:

''BitcoinJ does not have a stable API so it doesn't make much sense to
have it be dynamically linked, and the Java world already has its own
apt-get style infrastructure called Maven. Also, Debian packages have a
history of falling behind and for security critical software that's a
problem. ''

I might still work on the package later. Until then, I am releasing the

Description : learn programming in python with a robot

Rurple-ng is a rewrite of RUR-PLE[1], a programming learning environment. The
student learns programming concepts by controling a robot. The original
RUR-PLE comes with a self-learning tutorial[2] in several languages that can
also be used with Rurple-ng.

Unlike other programming learning environments, RUR-PLE uses a real world
programming language (python) with no modifications or restrictions. Thus the
student can move directly from programming a robot to real world programs.

Bug#656903: Desurium on a LP PPA

2012-11-12 Thread Per W.
Debian version strings:
If you are on the 0.9 branch you have to make clear that your package is
smaller than "0.9.0-1".
Your "0.9.0-devel+git20121104-makson*" > 0.9.0.
So I would use something like "0.9.0~20121104-0ubuntu0makson1" on Ubuntu
and 0.9.0~20121104-1" on Debian.

wxWidgets:
wxwidgets2.9 might never be part of Debian, since it is the current
wxWidgets development branch.
Debian will switch to wxwidgets2.10 when it gets released by upstream.
Development of end-user-software should be based on wxwidgets2.8.
wxwidgets2.9 could be part of a wxwidgets-unstable package only
available in Debian/sid, but this is unlikely to happen and it would
mean that desurium could never join Debian/testing.

CEF:
I don't know CEF but you should try to contact CEF-upstream and let them
merge the changes needed for desurium.
Having libcef and libcef-desura would mean code duplication which should
be avoided if possible.
Since libcef does not exist on Debian or Ubuntu it might be possible to
include the changes in a "libcef" package if they would brake no other
packages using libcef.

cURL:
If possible add c-ares support into upstreams curl.
If not include a patch in Debians curl package.
If that patch would break things, fork curl or remove dependency on
c-ares from desurium.
Forking means code duplication means worse maintainability.

I doubt that "sales" does really represent those developers behind the
easy-rsa software.

I have created the opendbx repository on git.debian.org. You can clone
from the (empty) and push to the repository from
git+ssh://@git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/opendbx

Or did you also never push a new package to a git repository? If you
don't have experience doing this, I can do it for you as well.

Greetings
Marc

Well, it's the address in the copyright. You may want to talk to the
developers into changing that.

Bug#693094: RFH: cloud-init -- configuration and customization of cloud instances

2012-11-12 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request assistance with maintaining the cloud-init package.

The package description is:
System to handle early initialization of a cloud instance. Cloud-init can for
example set a default locale and a host name, generate SSH private host keys,
add SSH keys to a user's .ssh/authorized_keys so they can log in, and set up
 ephemeral mount points.
 .
Cloud-init's behavior can be configured via user-data, given by the user at
 instance launch time.

Cloud-init is a complex system written in Python, and I do not have much
experience in both. I would like cloud-init to be maintained by a team
of skilled developers who are also experienced users.

See http://lists.debian.org/debian-cloud/2012/11/msg3.html for a longer
call for help.

The source package is currently hosted by the Python Applications team,
but can be moved if need is.

Cheers,

Bug#693097: ITP: lua-nginx-redis -- Lua redis client driver for the ngx_lua based on the cosocket API

2012-11-12 Thread Dererk
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org

Package name: lua-nginx-redis
Version: 0.14-1
Upstream Author: Yichun "agentzh" Zhang (章亦春)
URL: https://github.com/agentzh/lua-resty-redis
License: BSD
Description: Pure Lua redis client driver for the nginx embedded Lua
language
This modules provides a pure Lua redis driver implementation for the
embedded nginx's Lua interpreter.

Because this module is based on the ngx_lua's cosocket API, it inherits
the advantage of a real nonblocking behaviour running effectively on the
underlying nginx server ultra-fast technology design, allowing Web
developers making use of the Lua programming language to script and
construct extremely high-performance web applications capable to handle
10K+ connections.

Note that this module works for both nginx (provided by nginx-extras)
and the OpenResty bundle.

One remark, the cloud-init package looks really linked to Amazon EC2 setup,
it does not set the init for other cloud environments (Rackspace?
OpenNebula). Don't you think the package should be named ec2-cloud-init ?
Or do we really expect this package to be multiple cloud provider compliant
(would need to know in this case which provider we want to target at image
generation)?
Even compatible APIs to extract user data (ssh keys..., ) need to connect
to a specific end point IP, which will differ between providers (and/or
zone). To face this last problem, it means that configuration is needed to
create the image (debian installer specific question for cloud?)
