thanks

I intend to adopt ogle. I have appropriate hardware to test the both the
Altivec and MMX versions of the package. I'd also like to see an
optimized package available on AMD64, as per bug #254426. (Although SSE2
 would be much nicer!). The package isn't in too bad a shape overall,
and there are various other bugs I can work on too.

Ok, we can at least see whether it remains useful of course. Since
there's no obvious other candidate for adopting it yet, I say we do it
with team maintenance by l10n-dutch. However, I believe that it's a good
idea (in general with any team maintained package) to make one person
explicitly bear the final responsibility of the package.

Who's in for that? As the maintainer of 'dutch' I can do it if that's
required.

libsvm0. It provides svm-train to make new SVM's, svm-predict to make
predictions after they are trained, and svm-scale to adjust the range of
your data prior to input. These tools are primarily of interest to
artificial intelligence researchers.

Bug#378587: RFS: qrfcview -- viewer for IETF RFCs

2006-07-19 Thread Frederic Lehobey
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my source package "qrfcview".

* Package name: qrfcview
  Version : 0.62-1
  Upstream Author : Romain ROLLET <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://qrfcview.berlios.de/
* License : GPL
  Section : doc
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : viewer for IETF RFCs

It builds this binary package:
qrfcview - viewer for IETF RFCs

The package is linda and lintian clean and compiles with pbuilder.

The upload would fix this ITP bug: 378587

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net at
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qrfcview

Or just "apt-get source qrfcview" if your sources.list contains:
deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main contrib non-free

I would be glad if someone would be interested in sponsoring this
package.

Some other bits of information (from the package description):

 qRFCView is a smart IETF RFC viewer based on the Qt4 library featuring:

 * automatic table of content, with direct opening of section;
 * handling of RFC internal cross-references;
 * automatic downloading of a referenced RFC from the IETF web site on a simple
   click;
 * caching of RFC in a local directory;
 * tab-browsing of RFC;
 * searching.

 Homepage: http://qrfcview.berlios.de/

And about rfc-doc (from the README.Debian):

doc-rfc: if you have installed this package (in non-free) you might
want to take advantage of the locally installed RFCs. You can add the
/usr/share/doc/RFC/links/ directory to the directories used by
qRFCView (menu Edit -> Set Directories). Unfortunately most of the
files there are gzipped which is something qRFCView does not deal with
yet (it expects only .txt files).

Some questions I still have with respect to the package:

 * The binary has upper case (qRFCView). I have not seen anything
against it in the policy so I have followed there upstream choice.
But in case I have missed something...

 * Upstream uses QSettings
(http://doc.trolltech.com/4.1/qsettings.html) to store the
configuration files. Is there a special Debian policy (or best
practice) with respect to this. I have not found any.

An i386 binary may be found there :

http://lehobey-rennes.dyndns.org/qrfcview/qrfcview_0.62-1_i386.deb

Kind regards,
Frédéric LEHOBEY

Bug#271364: Scilab linux Maintainer

2006-07-19 Thread Sylvestre Ledru
Hello,

I am working at the INRIA on the Scilab project.
I am in charge of the GNU/Linux and Unix version of Scilab and I am a
big fan of Debian and "longtime" user.
I am in touch with Daniel Baumann and Torsten Werner for the future
package(s).

At the moment, I am rebuilding the configuration and compilation system
using autotools everywhere I can. I already have some feature requests
or fixes to do (dynamic lib, libtool...).
I am available to introduce new things which will make Scilab "more
compliant" to the Linux (and of course Debian) guidelines. Don't
hesitate to ask.

It would be great if I can provide my services as a co-maintainer for
the Debian package.

I hope I will be able to put forward a unofficial new ""version"" within
a few weeks or months.

Cheers,
Sylvestre

You need only post one ITP bug per source package. And AFAICS there is just
one which builds both the library and the development files.
BTW, isn't the version number of the latest stable release 1.0.4?

Bug#327462: patch to make the package buildable in unstable

2006-07-19 Thread Eddy Petrişor

Tags: patch

Hello,

I have took a look at the SVN source of icecc-icecream and fixed it to
make it compile in unstable.

All was made against this:

URL: svn://anonsvn.kde.org:443/home/kde/trunk/icecream
Repository UUID: 283d02a7-25f6-0310-bc7c-ecb5cbfe19da
Revision: 564192
Last Changed Rev: 563742

I haven't tested lintian, linda or piuparts.

I wonder if this is the first time there is a patch against wnpp :)

Sure. Before, in the meantime, I will upload the 4.0 package finally.
It's ready since quite a while, but I wanted to change this and that
again, so it got delayed.

Description: SVGAlib wrapper library for LibGGI
 The GGI project is developing the "General Graphics Interface", a
 set of APIs, drivers and other interfaces aiming to provide a fast,
 portable graphics environment for UNIX-like operating systems.
 .
 This package contains an implementation of the SVGAlib API, but
 one which does not access the physical display hardware directly.
 Instead, SVGAlib's interface is implemented via calls to LibGGI.
 Using this library, you can run SVGAlib applications on any display
 target supported by LibGGI (except the real SVGAlib itself).
 .
 You should not attempt to compile SVGAlib applications against this
 wrapper library. Install svgalibg1-dev or svgalib-dummyg1 for this.

Description: General Input Interface X input target
 "General Graphics Interface" - a fast, portable graphics environment.
 .
 This package contains input modules that make input sources available
 for use with LibGII, the input library developed by the GGI project.
 .
 Input modules are included for these devices:
 .
  xKeyboard and mouse input from a newly created X window
  xwin Keyboard, mouse and expose input from an existing X window
 .
 Usually, it is not necessary to specify which of these input devices
 you want to use; LibGGI normally finds an appropriate input device.

Err, it was already called that -- except that it didn't include tabs
instead of spaces. Oh well :-)

Great.

Since I promised I'd explain the thoughts I had about manpages-nl, here
goes:

Maintaining translated manpages is a bitch, especially without the help
of something like a po file format. There is a package in Debian called
'po4a', which can convert a number of file formats (including nroff
sourcees) into .po files.

The upstream CVS repository (which is at nl.linux.org, I don't think
they have anonymous access) contains the original files which the
translations were based on. You'll need those to successfully use po4a;
I can provide you with a checkout, if required.

The previous maintainer of manpages-nl, Joost Van Baal, told me that he
would prefer to see the translated manpages in the original package;
i.e., bash.1 should end up with the bash package, rather than having it
remain in the manpages-nl package. I agree, and think that this should
be done as long as the maintainer of the bash package agrees as well. Of
course, I suspect the manpage would have to be updated before the bash
maintainer will be interested...

Is this really about SOAP? Doesn't libcsoap1 take care of that?

These all look like packages you want to generate from a single
source package. Also, libsvm0-dev is a bad name, IMHO, because the
ABI, which the 0 identifies, is not relevant for the -dev package,
unless the 0 also specifies the API version.

I suggest you merge the five bugs into one as ITPs are generally per
source package.
