Bug#637004: qtwebkit: FTBFS on s390x: needs some adjustments

I didn't bring the topic to debian-release yet but we started to convert
Qt/Qt WebKit/friends to multiarch:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-kde-talk/2011-September/001636.html

Qt WebKit upload depends on when Qt multiarch could happen. Another option
suggested by Pino is to upload latest Qt Webkit now without multiarch bits.
I would prefer to start Qt multiarch transition and fix this bug at
the same time.

Opinion?

Cheers,

Fathi

Bug#642931: kdeinit4/kded4 leaks memory

2011-09-25 Thread Anssi Kolehmainen
Package: kdelibs-bin
Version: 4:4.6.5-2
Severity: important

kdeinit4 seems to be leaking memory. In a few days it has grown to about 1GB
RSS so soon I'll have to kill it. I don't think I have anything special
running in KDE.

Any ideas on debugging this?

Quick log of memory usage. VmRSS also increases similarly.

Bug#530532: Policy violation

Sorry but I beg to differ. It's strictly a missing feature that
nobody implemented so far. /etc/ssl was intended for use with the
system crypto libraries. OpenSSL supported it for a long time, then
GnuTLS. NSS and stuff like QtNetwork do not use it. This is known
and albeit annoying I don't see that this is a policy violation. Yes,
nobody implemented configuration files for both NSS and QtNetwork.
You can actually recompile them to ship with your own certs. But you
cannot quote non-existent configuration files not being in /etc as a
reason for a policy violation and hence upgrade it to serious, sorry.

Kind regards
Philipp Kern

we'll do Python 2.7 first, so it would be helpful if you could hold
off that transition for a while longer. Furthermore it would be cool
if you could fix the ia64 FTBFS[0] first.

So yeah, having the changes in unstable and not coupling it to the
transition might be better.

Ok, so there's probably not such a thing as a bug in an open source software,
because you can just fix it and compile it yourself.

I know that's it's a question of opinion and that it's probably never going to
be fixed, but I strongly disagree with you: this is a big issue. It's not
Debian's fault, I know that, but if you want Debian to be consistant, you can't
have certificates bundles everywhere in the system, the recent Diginotar issue
proves it again : you guys had to upload a shitload of packages just to remove
one single CA, sometimes with several days of interval.

I find it ridiculous, unsafe and messy. In my opinion it should be adressed and
would definitely make Debian a better system.

I acknowledge you are really making a good job with Debian, so I don't mean to
be rude...

Regards,

François.
