When reading an image into a handle, php4-imagick (suddenly!) does not
set this the handle as a resource type.

Please check the following failure from the examples directory below.

Package: php4-imagick
Version: 0.9.11-1
Followup-For: Bug #298448
Severity: important

Since some times, my php-imagick module has broken down. At first glance this
bug seems identical to #298448 (archived), though it seems to show the same
symptoms as #272687 too.

I have first noticed segfaults appearing in my apache error.log:
[Sat Jul 9 21:50:44 2005] [notice] child pid 28074 exit signal Segmentation
fault (11)
Which is the same symptom as #298448.

In both bug reports this is claimed to be fixed in 0.9.11-0.2 and 0.9.11-1. I
have 0.9.11-1 installed, which does not seem to fix the problem (not that the
last post in the archived #298448 did not acknowledge the fix).

Some extra debugging shows there is some kind of problem when cleaning up, I
managed to make the following stacktrace (Unfortunately still with the
original .deb, didn't get around to compiling with debugging symbols yet).
> Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

This stacktrace was made by running apache in single mode and requesting
line.php from the examples.

I also tried running the same from the command line (using all of "php",
"php4" and "php4-cgi") on several files, all giving a similar output. The
following is from running line.php.

There are new versions of the php4 packages: 4.4.0. The phpapi version in
these packages changed, so I can now not upgrade my php, without breaking
php4-imagick.

Hello,

the package lists python-ldap in its dependencies, but python-ldap does
not seem to exist anymore. Instead, there are -ldaptor
packages which suggest that zope-ldap should probably be ported to use
one of these. Otherwise, when doing a dist-upgrade, zope-ldap would get
uninstalled and thus likely break any Zope applications that use them.

Best,

Hi,

Sorry no one got back to you sooner, zope-ldap currently doesn't have a
maintainer.

There must have been some screwup in your Packages file. python-ldap
is alive and well, and no transition is necessary.

~/.mgm/ also makes sense since the home directory might be
NFS-mounted on several different machines.

The quick fix was to switch to FreeCOM from

This is from upstream. I haven't used that version in a long time and
there is a new version due to be uploaded sometime, but it is worth a
try to see if you can get around the problem for now.

As the code itself notes, certain file types can cause the imagemagick

The -v option is rather limited.
Assuming one has found duplicate pairs: (a,b), (a,c)
then if one views (a,b) and deletes a, when one comes to
view (a,c) there will be the problem that a no longer exists.

If one assumes: (a==b) && (a==c) => (b==c)
(which will be more or less true (the matching is fuzzy to start
with)) then one may merge pairs.

eg. (a,b), (a,c), (d,e), (e,f) -> (a,b,c), (d,e,f)

I wrote a script that does this. My perl knowledge is limited but
with a little cleaning up the script may be of some interest to
others and so I include it here. Use by something like:

findimagedupes -g ... | grep '^Dupes:' | grpdup | sh

It will break if, for example, filenames contain shell magic.

I think its default fonts are too small, even with the stretching it
seems like most of the slide looks empty. I don't like slides with
much more content, but I think these fonts look too thin/small. (I
may be wrong, I'm just looking at them on screen, but I like the look
of seminar slides better).

The other thing (do you know how to do this?) is I really want a slide
footer/page number, and I don't know how to do this.

And it has no nice defaults for colours/bullets/fonts, so I have to
struggel with aesthetics which I am hopeless at. :( I suppose if I
once come up with something nice, I can continue using it, but this
first time is really painful.

The other thing is that the config is spread across too many file
(maybe because I don't know how to do it right, but still) -- there's
stuff in pdfscreen.cfg, my mysetup.tex, and in the actual tex file
(where the overlay is selected). It all seems most awfully
cluttered. It'd be good to consolidate all this into one place.

   -ans.

CVR knows how to do this. It should be part of the documentation.

On CTAN the actual version of 'truncate.sty' is V3.6,
included in 'pdfscreen' is V3.5. This should be updated
('truncate.sty' is not part of the upstream tarball anyway).
