He also has explained why but i didn't understood (the problem is my little tech skill :) ). So, what i have to do? - Patch every kernel with unsupported cedric's patch? - Patch every kernel with unwelcome i2c-keywest patch? - Live without thermal control? user mode linux on ppc32
Hi all, some days ago lynuxworks.com guys made an announcement about their port of uml on ppc32; after that Jeff Dike has received this work, you can read his article on usermodelinux.org (there's also a patch for uml on ppc64). As you can see in Jeff's article the code he has received is a 28MB tarball, i've downloaded it and tried to compile it "as is" without success. According to Jeff i've started to "diff" the whole code; i've sent him a patch, you can find it there: http://www.artha.org/shammash/ppc/uml-2.6.0-test9_x86_ppc.diff Since there was an amount of history files (file.c~), .orig, .patched, strange symlinks outside the source tree, great cuts of non i386/ppc code and also looping links, i hope to have understood correctly their work (if someone wants to check, i appreciate that) Now, next step is splitting up the uml code from lynxos code (their RTOS) and make it compiling somehow. If you are interested in coding/testing it you can ask Jeff. I think that he'll need an account on a ppc machine; perhaps Ben can send him his new macmini :) luca -- Beware of programmers who carry screwdrivers. -- Leonard Brandwein Linux Registered User # 286841 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". installing debian on mol
hi, does anyone has installed debian on mol ? I've tried with Branden's instructions (installing debian without using any physical media) and also with the iso of woody-powerpc (not burned). In the first case i've added these pseudofiles: pseudofile:"yaboot" /home/shammash/mol/firstboot/yaboot pseudofile:"yaboot.conf" /home/shammash/mol/firstboot/yaboot.conf pseudofile:"vmlinux" /home/shammash/mol/firstboot/linux.bin pseudofile:"root.bin" /home/shammash/mol/firstboot/root.bin But i cannot start the kernel (yaboot says "not a valid elf image"). In the second case i've added the iso as blkdev in "/etc/mol/molrc.linux" but mol doesn't boot from. Hints ? Luca -- BOFH excuse #372: Forced to support NT servers; sysadmins quit. hi, i've the latest xmms from unstable running on ibook 2.2 . Sound is configured with alsa and oss-emulation. When i play an mp3/ogg/wav with xmms i ear some "cracks". Cracks are more frequent with alsa plugin than with oss plugin. Tuning a few plugin options reduce the cracks, but the don't disappear. Hints? ibook2.2's thermal control dilemma
hi guys, i own an ibook2.2 witch has adm1030 thermal control chip. i've used for a while the kernel module written by cedric pradalier, but now he suggest to use lm-sensors. He also has explained why but i didn't understood (the problem is my little tech skill :) ). So, what i have to do? - Patch every kernel with unsupported cedric's patch? - Patch every kernel with unwelcome i2c-keywest patch? - Live without thermal control? [patch] adbmouse && synaptics
Hi, i've written a little patch to have synaptics xfree/xorg driver running with adb touchpads. It's working on my ibook2.2, please let me know if it work also for you. The patch is for 2.6.12-rc4, but should apply to any recent kernel. http://www.artha.org/shammash/ppc/adb_syn/adb_synaptics_0.1.diff You have to set CONFIG_ADB_TRACKPAD_ABSOLUTE=y and then recompile; then pick latest synaptics xfree/xorg driver (now it's 0.14.3) build and install it. Before reboot be sure to set dev_ADB = "/dev/null" in /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf. Here you can find an example of configuration for X, i suppose that you'll have to play a lot with synclient to fine-tune touchpad options. There are two mouses so you can still use emumousebuttons with keyboard. http://www.artha.org/shammash/ppc/adb_syn/xorg_mouse.conf TIA Luca -- Beware of programmers who carry screwdrivers. -- Leonard Brandwein http://shammash.homelinux.org/ - http://www.artha.org/shammash/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". pbbuttonsd, synaptics and sleep on lid close
Hi, below you can find a little patch for pbbuttonsd that partially solve the incompatibility with mouses (in absolute mode) managed by synaptics x module. With this patch you don't need anymore to change "/dev/adb" in "/dev/null" in pbbuttonsd.conf Now i'll try to know why mouse movements are ignored by pbbuttonsd: sometimes you have to press a key on the keyboard or it performs the timer action. luca -- Beware of programmers who carry screwdrivers. -- Leonard Brandwein http://shammash.homelinux.org/ - http://www.artha.org/shammash/ --- module_pmac.c_ORIG 2005-08-07 14:58:48.0 +0200 +++ module_pmac.c 2005-08-07 15:00:00.0 +0200 @@ -1069,7 +1069,8 @@ if ((ADBBuffer[2] == 0x74) && (ADBBuffer[3] == 0x70) && /* 'tpad' */ (ADBBuffer[4] == 0x61) && -(ADBBuffer[5] == 0x64)) { +(ADBBuffer[5] == 0x64) && +(ADBBuffer[8] == 0x03)) { return n; } }

(What is the reason for not resetting the timer on them?) This is not so simple: when synaptics x driver starts it grabs the event device using EVIOCGRAB. In this way data from input device don't leak to /dev/input/mice and, as a side effect, no one else can read events from event device. If you are using synaptics X driver you can see this by simply "cat" your mouse evdev with X turned on and then off: you'll see garbage in the latter case, but not in the former. luca -- Beware of programmers who carry screwdrivers. -- Leonard Brandwein http://shammash.homelinux.org/ - http://www.artha.org/shammash/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
