tiny typo in debian policy manual

2003-02-05 Thread Amos Shapira
Hi,

In section 13.1 "Manual Pages" third paragraph begins with:

"There should be a manual page at for every program at the very least".

I think the first "at" is out of order.

I saw this in http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s13.1

Cheers,

Bug#179900: debian-policy: apparent typo under "Additional documentation"?

2003-02-05 Thread Martin Pool
Package: debian-policy
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-02-06
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

The "Additional documentation" section says:

> Packages must not require the existance of any files in
> /usr/share/doc/ in order to function [60]. Any files that are
> referenced by programs but are also useful as standalone documentation
> should be installed under /usr/share/doc/ with symbolic links from
> /usr/share/doc/

Perhaps I'm wrong, but this looks like a typo, as it is contradictory.
(If the package is not to require files under /usr/share/doc/ then
putting them there is a problem)

Presumably you meant to say "should be installed under /usr/share/"?

Please look at the bug list before filing bugs, this has already been
noticed. (And fixed in CVS.)

I think the way policy is handled has changed since the early
days; and perhaps polling the web server folks would yeild different
 results?

Well, since the /usr/doc fiasco, policy has tended not to move
and lead the changes, and have policy being used to beat developers over
the head with. (urggh, my grammar, she is missing).

Any progress?

I did read the list, but obviously I missed it. Sorry
