Sponsor for GEthWake (Graphical PC-Switcher using Wake-ON-LAN) wanted (corrected)
[Sorry that I've forgotten to place sources as well a binaries when I was writing the previous post on this subject] Hello, debian-mentors! I am looking for a sponsor for gethwake I'm currently developing and packaging. Description: GTK+ Realization of Wake-On-LAN GEthWake is a graphical (GTK2-based) tool used to send Magic WOL packets over the net. . WOL is an abbreviation for Wake-on-LAN. It is a standard that allows you to turn on a computer from another location over a network connection. The current project page is [http://linux.iatp.by/projects/gethwake/] There is a repository with sources and binaries for i386 architecture located on my website: deb http://linux.iatp.by/debian/ ./ deb-src http://linux.iatp.by/debian/ ./ AFAIK, the package complies to the Debian Policy (there is no output of linda and lintian) I hope somebody (maybe, author of the relative _etherwake_ package) will accept my request to place gethwake in the official Debian repository. Thanks everyone. Sincerely yours, Pavel Kustovmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
UTF-8 changelog?
Hi! Lintian tells me that there are obsolete national charset characters in debian/changelog, and I have to convert it to UTF-8. The national characters are in my name. First I have converted changelog, then lintian figured out that I do an NMU. So I also converted control. Now I cannot debsign, because I could not properly tell gnupg my name in UTF-8 encoding (cut&paste did not actually work). How did you handle the situation? (I convert back to latin-2 for the time being, but I am overly interested in the Right Way.)

Use the -e'Your Name <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>' to dpkg-buildpackage, in ASCII (you need to have write your name without any non-ASCII, that is, non-7bit, characters). If you want to write your name in non-7bit characters, you'll need to do so in UTF-8, there is no real policy yet for this issue, but the consensus seems to be it becomes '_if_ you use non-7bit characters, those must be in UTF-8'.
