C library for numerical analysis and math

2004-02-05 Thread Halim Boukaram
This is my second email. will it reach?

I've written a fast C library for numerical analysis.

-integration
-differential equations
-root finding
-interpolation
-fourier analysis
-ploting curves
-misc functions such as rect, tri etc

I need to know where to go from here please answer. my inbox is filling up.

I don't know enough to really know, but it sure sounds impressive.

Presumably you are aware of the various GNU projects for these sorts of
libraries?

If not, go hunting from www.gnu.org -> software or something like that.

If so, what does your library bring to the table that the existing
libraries don't have?

What license are you planning to use?

If you are planning to use GPL or LGPL or MIT/X style license, is there
room for cooperation/ integration with existing (namely GNU) projects
that are similar?

And a big welcome aboard to Debian, The Universal Operating System (TM).

cheers

Two item's:
- Where's the package?
- What do you have to say about the License?
The information you give in the ITP doesn't correspond well to
   which
seems to spell non-free to me. Also, they might want to clarify the
  public domain stuff.

Silly me, it's available here:

http://magnus.therning.org/gnosis/
http://magnus.therning.org/gnosis/gnosis-utils_1.1.0-1_all.deb

Well, from my reading of the license, and my inspection of the source
code, all but some articles are Public Domain. I am making sure this is
correct. If this is so (all python source in PD), then it would be
acceptable for Debian?

You probably should discuss this with debian-legal, including whether
the PD notice is acceptable as is. AFAICT people seem to be happier if a
thing says license even if the license itself is very liberal (with
common license wordings (MIT,GPL,etc.) preferred.
For the non-pd stuff: I'd think *everything* in the package has to be
free. (See recent threads about non-free in debian-devel for comparison
with packages that are deemed to be not free.
