Enlighten me: What does the 2.6.13 kernel and/or the mm patches specifically add for laptop users? (I'm running Debian 2.6.12 myself, with suspend2, and I'm quite happy with that setup, but I always want to try out new, promising things...) Bulid In Speakers on ASUS A3E 5003 Laptop with Debian Unstable
HI, I bought ASUS A3E 5003 Laptop, and successfully installed debian sarge and now unstable My problem is with build-in speakers "The build-in stereo speaker system allows you to hear audio without additional attachments. The multimedia sound system features an integrated digital audio controller that products rich, vibrant sound (result improved with external stereo headphones or speakers). Audio features are software controlled.¨ I can listen music from the outside jack (with out speakers) using 6 channel sound. there have ALL information: http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/dmesg http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/lsmod http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/lspci http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/modules http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/snap1.jpg http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/snap2.jpg http://kt.mgu.bg/downloads/laptop/snap3.jpg

Well, partly that is what I want to find out. Some of the reasons: 1. Suspend2 on AMD64 works only with the latest release, which is obviously for 2.6.13 kernels. 2. As I said, latest kernel because some of the latest ACPI patches might fix my "Suspend to RAM" problems. And other ACPI problems I am having. MM patchset because this is a laptop and not a server, and I have read, that the mm kernel is geared towards the multimedia/desktop world, isn't it? So if everything is running fine with your kernel, I cannot tell you any promising things to try out, sorry. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Re: Bulid In Speakers on ASUS A3E 5003 Laptop with Debian Unstable
PROBLEM: not working build in speakers. I sent mail to support.asus.com.tw ... and they answer that Asus don't support Linux, and take me that link: http://www.linux-laptop.net/ but no help from there. Now I have to bring headphones to listen music. But that is in case when I am alone. With other friends I need outside speakers. Can anyone help me.

That is, I can see the need for more experimental stuff with AMD64. > MM patchset because this is a laptop and not a server, and I have read, that > the mm kernel is geared towards the multimedia/desktop world, isn't it? But I don't think that is correct. The 'mm' doesn't stand for multimedia. As far as I know, it's more or less a playground for various patches, to get some testing before they are considered for the mainstream kernel. Ofcourse, with the server background of Linux and the shift towards laptops/deskops, you could say that the percentage of mm-patches related to laptops/desktops is higher than those in the mainstream kernel. So, in that sense, it may be slightly more geared towards laptops/desktops. > So if everything is running fine with your kernel, I cannot tell you any > promising things to try out, sorry. Too bad, I'm still looking for this feature that will double my battery life, triple the speed of the CPU, makes my 4:3 screen wider and adds 100 Gb to my drive. Oh, and blu-ray capabilities for my CD/DVD drive, ofcourse. But I guess I'm out of luck :-) Koen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? gnome CPU scaling monitor
Hi, I have Debian Sid with gnome 2.10 and basically cannot change the speed of the CPU as a user, the CPU Freq monitor always allows to change the CPU speed, but as root. Anyone has given a user the permissions to change this from the user and not with root? .Alejandro -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
