Fwd: Konsole Will Not Run
Further experimentation reveals that Gnome Terminal will not run, only giving a "visual tease" before vanishing. The same applies to any program in the Utilities->XShells directory but not the simple Utilities->Shells directory. I had begun with only problems using konsole but this has expanded in scope beyond my knowledge. Any ideas? Bob -- Forwarded Message -- Subject: Konsole Will Not Run Date: Sat, 22 Jun 2002 21:54:43 -0500 From: Robert Tilley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: debian-kde@lists.debian.org When I attempt to start konsole via either clicking on the terminal icon in the panel or entering "konsole"+RETURN in a bash window, the konsole window will flash onto the monitor for approximately less than half a second and disappear. This forces me to fall back on "Utility->Shells->bash" to gain access to a terminal window. I've tried using other window managers (wmmaker, twm, etc.) and the behavior is the same -- Konsole will flash a screen at me then vanish. The must be a file(s) somewhere that is causing this to occur. I would like to use Konsole again. -- Comments and other information are appreciated. Import E-Mail from Evolution into KMail
While I was unable to use KMail I utilized Evolution as an e-mail client. I have KMail running normally on my system again and wish to import all of my Evolution e-mail into KMail. Can anyone suggest a way to do this? -- Comments and information are appreciated. Robert
Text Links Won't Open In Konqueror
When I click on links to text files, Konqueror complains that "There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with the text/plain but it cannot handle this filetype." KMail Folder Disappeared!?!?!
One of my folders had about 4500 messages in it and suddenly disappeared this afternoon. I question that is truly vanished because when I try to recreate the folder the attempt fails. A dialog appears that tells me I do not have sufficient permissions to complete the operation. I suspect that it may simply not be shown in my folder list. Any ideas? -- Comments and information are appreciated. Robert
OpenPGP Plugin
KMail complains when I click on certain messages with the dialog that the openpgp plugin is not installed. I am running Debian unstable and apt-get update nightly. How can I install this plugin? -- Comments and information are appreciated. Robert

The user is called 'oracle' as I will install Oracle with the user oracle as the dba. KMail is set to use store mail in directories (maildir files). The maildir file the corresponds to the 'vanished' directory exists and can be cat'ed to view the contents. From this, I reason that the maildir file needs to be imported back into KMail to restore the directory. -- Comments and information are appreciated. Robert

Where is KDELIBS4?
Many packages in my KDE 3.1b2 system cannot be installed because of a dependency on kdelibs4. The only kdelibs4 that is available from my apt-sources is kdelibs4-dev 3.0.1. KMail Broken???
I am running KDE 3.1b2. KMail is setup with folders for mailing lists. The mailing list address is defined in the folder's properties. When I right-click on the folder name, there is no option to post e-mail to the mailing list (debian-kde). I also try to select the folder holding debian-kde mailings and then click the new e-mail button. No go. My only recourse is to manually put the mailing list address into to To: field. What's wrong? Taskbar and Open Applications
I am running KDE 3.1b2 and I have unknowingly configured my Taskbar so that information has been lost. No longer are all running applications displayed in the taskbar. I must click on the Window List button if I wish to see all applications that are open in a certain window view.
