khelpcenter build index cache of application manuals
One of the biggest issues I have with kde debian is the seeming enigmatic khelpcenter and the whole mysterious docbook methodology of using khelpcenter to access any documentation to begin with. It seems almost ignored as far as documentation, and setting it up properly. When firing up khelpcenter, I want to build an index of all the application manuals, so I press build search index, and up comes a window that pops up an unchecked checkbox Application Manuals that I promptly check under the column header 'search scope' with the far right column header being status and underneath it describing it being missing: Search ScopeStatus -- X Application Manuals Missing So after checking it attempting to build the application manual index I get the following error: Global symbol "$kdekdehtmldir" requires explicit package name at /usr/bin/khc_docbookdig.pl line 94. Execution of /usr/bin/khc_docbookdig.pl aborted due to compilation errors. What's the deal? Anyone know or can point me to the 'official' way of building the application manual index so I can once and for all pull up the khelpcenter help for the application i'm looking for help in? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advanced. pgpuan0ous9ZT.pgp Description: PGP signature

[snip] If that's what's needed, try this: edit/create ~/.qt/qtrc with the following: - [General] font=Bitstream Vera Sans Mono,9,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0 - That will set default size fonts for KDE applications, without need of kcontrol and stuff. I haven't checked if it's disregarded if you manually set sizes in kcontrol. Also, you may want to upgrade your etch, since fonts tend to be messed up with Xorg upgrades. I don't know how to overcome the error you're getting. But you should still be able to use the application manuals without building the index. Just skip that step, and things should work. -- David Jarvie. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I don't think it is worth the risk. Maybe when I have more time. Things are working quite well at the moment. Mind you the next time I install my system I will use the stable system. Testing is too unstable for me. Whenever I do an apt-get upgrade I always have to reconfigure usb, sound, printing or some such. I have reported this problem in bugzilla. I suspect the person that was testing this functionality had a high resolution and consequently did not pick up the change. -- Glenn Meehan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
