This also just happened to me two days ago without a system crash. Affected
was kmail and the KDE desktop settings. In kmail the
file /home/user/.kde/share/config/kmailrc was corrupted (the account info had
been replaced by some mangled mails). It was quickly solved by overwriting
with the same file from a backup. I havn't found out what to do about the
desktop, but it isn't serious.

possible error in kde-printing-system?

2005-01-20 Thread B. Venthur
Hello,
this is not a bugreport, but it may turn out that there is a bug in the
kde-printing-system.

i'm referring to the following bugreports of gs-esp:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=248947
i think, that some kde-apps like, konqueror, kghostview and kpdf send
print-jobs to cups, which are somehow not valid, so that gs crashes with
no clue of the error. this seems to happen when you try to print
documents (pdf or ps) which have some nasty gifs or in my case when you
try to print 2on1 or 4on1 pages.

i think this could be a kde-bug, because this bug applies only, when i
try to print these documents under linux. with a windowsclient the same
docs print without any problems.

is this "bug" already known and a confirmed kde-*-bug?
thanks in advance and greetings
Bastian
