kdevelop 2.1.5 using kde 3.1.1 unable to find htdig.conf
hello, after installing kdevelop 2.1.5 in kde 3.1.1 during the set up procedure I have discovered that it is unable to find the htdig.conf file. I installed htdig from woody debian package and the file path is /etc/htdig/htdig.conf. What is wrong ? -- saluti Mauro On this machine no Windows system survives and LINUX POWER reigns UNLIMITED.
kpackage errors in kde 3.1.1 under woody stable
hello, after upgrading from kde 3.0.2 to kde 3.1.1 my kpackage does not work properly. If am root it does not install anything (I get exec:not found, I suspect for some reason it cannot find the path to dpkg). If I am normal user it does install (after prompting the root password) but making huge windows which get outside the monitor screen. In any case (root or user) I cannot mark any package. It worked flawlessy under kde 3.0.2...Any clue ? -- saluti Mauro On this machine no Windows system survives and LINUX POWER reigns UNLIMITED.
where does kde 3.1.1 start ?
hello, I need to automatically execute after kde 3.1.1 startup a small binary called "atitvout" for the tv-out of my sony laptop. Where should I insert the shell script command: atitvout pal auto ? /etc/init.d does not work, kde after startup makes it void and a new fresh identical command is necessary...Can anyone provide a solution ? -- saluti Mauro On this machine no Windows system survives and LINUX POWER reigns UNLIMITED.
krec 0.1 using kde 3.1.1 unable to find compressor
hello, I get an error message on krec 0.1 startup using kde 3.1.1 and woody : Unable to find Compressor Your system is missing the Synth_STEREO_COMPRESSOR aRts module. I have the meta package kdemultimedia installed and I am sure that the above module is NOT missing since typing: 'artsshell stereoeffect list' this module is shown. What is wrong ? -- saluti, Mauro On this machine no Windows system survives and LINUX POWER reigns UNLIMITED.

Re: where does kde 3.1.1 start ?
By default, KDE will execute any executable files it finds in ~/.kde/Autostart, and you can check what directory is configured on your system in the Control Center -> System Administration -> Paths. So just create a shell script in your ~/.kde/Autostart directory with that command in it. Re: kpackage errors in kde 3.1.1 under woody stable
I get the same behavior with a sid install regarding not being able to find the exec as rootit runs flawlessly as a user however after being prompted for the root password. woody 3.1.0 -> 3.1.1 still problems
Hi, today 3.1.0 -> 3.1.1 woody upgrade still show the libkcal2 <-> kdepim-libs, yaf <-> mpeglib and kio_audiocd <-> kdemultimedia-kio-plugins conflics because they contain the same files. Is it not enough to add replaces&provides to the new pkg so that the old yaf, libkcal2 kio_audiocd get replaced without lots of dpkg --purge, apt-get -f install runs? I really hope that now that KDE is in unstalble the woody backports of a future 3.1.1 -> 3.1.2 upgrade will not show these dump problems. Nevertheless dpkg and apt gymnastic exercises are easier/faster than building KDE from source ;) So thx for the packages. Achim -- To me vi is Zen. To use vi is to practice zen. Re: Video files previews

Some time ago (with Kde 3.0 or 2.2, can't remember) when I put the mouse pointer over a movie file it opened a small window and started playing it (the same way as with audio files) and a friend of mine told me that he saw that movie previews existed in kde 3.1 and it showed the first frame of the video in a tag (the same way as with images). I've tried to install kplayer (not kmplayer) which is the package available from the URL Jarno said but I can't see movie previews within konqueror (though the kplayer program is great!) Any Ideas? Where are preview configuration files located? Should they be modified?
