packet imapfilter and kmail

2003-02-04 Thread J. Woch
Hi,

since kmail doesn't support server-side imap filtering (and doesn't bother
to implement client side imap-filtering as, e.g, mozilla does) I installed
the package imapfilter. It works quite nice.
However, whenever imapfilter starts to check the mailboxe(es), kmail loses
the connection to the imap server and pops up a dialogbox to inform me
about that fact. This is very annoying.
Is there a way to avoid that?

Thanks in advance,
Jens

Not a solution to your problem, but i use procmail on my server.
Some filterrules in .procmailrc which sort the mails into different
folder files that are accessable through imap... this works very fine
and do not provoke this msg-box.

I use exim, and have a .forward file in my homedir on the IMAP server, which
handles all my filtering rules, and puts mailing list emails into my mailing
list folders fine - it's never generated any KMail errors as yet.

KDE 3.1 RC6 has some security issues that are only solved in 3.1 final. You

I'll be on travel for the next week and I got the flu over the weekend. No
chance I'll hassle with more packages for this week. I want to get a proper,
100% clean Qt package now that I worked with Martin for almost 2 weeks on it.

I tried that, too, but then the client gets not noticed whenever a new

In kmail prefs there is an option to tell kmail that it should look after
new mail every x minutes... i use this option and it works fine.
it's in the options for network/incoming/yourimapserver->edit (or something
like that (im using german translation).

What do you mean whit that, that kmail isn't capable of downloading headers

Or is it impossible at all to use multiple maiboxen with something like

Well, it *is* capable of sorting and moving them, but only to local folders,
not imap-folders. However, strange thing is, that the functionality seems
to be there, because saving to drafts and templates, e.g., *may* be imap
folders.

2003-02-04 Thread Lutz Kittler
Hi,

I installed kde-3.0.4 on woody. Just now I needed libqt3-dev and only
found the libqt3-3.0.5 packages. libqt3-dev needs libpng* and so on.
Now I have some unresolved package dependencies

Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libpng12-0: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.1-1) but 2.2.5-14.3 is to be installed

What can I do? I tried to remove libpng* and so on, but had no success.
Is it possible tp upgrade all kde-packages ( inclusive libqt ) to kde-3.1 now.

I think the hardest thing is libpng12-0 because it wants libc6-2.3.

additionally there are some statistics on http://extragear.kde.org that show
the status each app is in. Each application has its own release cycle.

The translations are supposed to be put into the app-package, not in one
central i18n-package. But of course as always: suggestions are welcome.
And please, packagers: Do not build one big extragear package but rather one
for each app.

Kdeextragear is a mess for translators. There is no freeze of messages for
the module and each application goes its own way. Unless kdeextragear
follows a proper release cycle there is no way that you can get good quality
translations.

That's all there was to it, the last time I tried.
However, I also tried it using a combination of 3-4 other sources
instead, including one in Germany, one in Estonia, and one in Lithuania.

In each case, everything uploaded except the specific ones, like ksirc,
and cracklib. Nor is this the only time. I had been trying to install
the downloaded SUSE, and everything downloaded except for cracklib,
there too -- in that case, I got back a "forbidden" message too. I
assumed that it was part of their business model, and
decided, "well, I'll just install Debian instead, since I know Debian."
But sure enough, I'm getting this "forbidden" message again. So now
I'm wondering if this is part of the War on Terror, or just a really
peculiar bug, or something else.

KDE User Can't Access Home Partition

2003-02-04 Thread Bob Tilley
The user "oracle" on my system cannot access their home partition
/home/oracle. The user is of group oracle and I have system wide readable
/home directories.

There is a lot of downloaded information in the directory so I did not
simply wish to delete and recreate the user/directory.

Any ideas?

It is probably that the link to my machine is so overloaded that the mirror
didn't manage to get all the files.

The moral of this is never to put up any packaging of KDE on anything but a
high speed ftp site. As an afterthought this should have been managed in a
better way, but I never expected so many downloads in the first place.

Ah, damn!

I was using 3123 and just updated to 4191. I had the impression that that
fixed it but it seems I'm wrong.

I also couldn't reproduce the problem using the Xfree86 nv driver...

Well, I've narrowed the problem down a lot but I don't really understand much
of the X internals, so I'll have to wait what Branden has to say.

The biggest Problem is, that the xserver-xfree86-dbg does not work with the
nvidia driver, so I can't debug the process with gdb. And of course the
problem doesn't occur with the nv driver :(

Do you know of any way you can force the problem to occur?

With 3123 I could take a konqueror scrollbar and drag it up and down violently
(:)) until it happened. This no longer works with 4191.

I'll keep hunting this thing down but first I have to hit it again with 4191.

there is a simple solution: use /usr/bin/tcpd to limit the accesses to some
mirror sites and force the people to use the mirrors. it should be enough for
everyone to get new files one or two times a day. and it unburdens your

kde-theme-liquid or mosfet liquid theme

2003-02-04 Thread Sergio Rodriguez de Guzman Martinez
As some people is using my deb repository for installing mosfet liquid
theme, I must announce that I have changed the name of the package to
kde-theme-liquid to be according to the traditional one.

I have done this with the last version of mosfet (0.9.6pre3) so you can
apt-get it from:

deb http://coyote.asoc.euitt.upm.es/mud/debian ./
deb-src http://coyote.asoc.euitt.upm.es/mud/debian ./

apt-get install kde-theme-liquid

and it will replace the old mosfet package.

or download directly from:
http://coyote.asoc.euitt.upm.es/mud/debian/kde-theme-liquid_0.9.6-pre3-1_i386.deb

It is compiled for Sid, but I will provide sources in two or three days.

Ktown README: 2.2 --> 3.1

2003-02-04 Thread Marc Branchaud

I just upgraded from 2.2 to 3.1 on Woody. Since the README on ktown
doesn't have specific 2.2.2 --> 3.1 advice, here's what I encountered.

(I haven't really followed any of the 2.2 threads, so apologies if I'm
repeating what's already been said.)

The only problem I ran into was with kdelibs3. I _think_ that a smooth
upgrade path would be to first purge kdelibs3 then do the apt-get stuff:

  dpkg --purge --force-all kdelibs3
  apt-get update
  apt-get install kdebase kdm

I'm not sure if this would really work, since I tried to do apt-get
install first, then used dselect to remove kdelibs3 and install kdelibs4
at the same time, then did apt-get install kdebase kdm again.

(Thanks Ralf!!)

BTW, the README lists kdebindings as one of the KDE packages, but
apt-get can't find it...

Currently, libqt3c102, libqt3c102-mt and friends contain only a few
symlinks and some documentation in sid: no actual files. As soon as this
is fixed, the ftpmasters will (HOPEFULLY) add the necessary overrides
for KDE 3.1 to enter the archive.

Short answer: It's already uploaded.

Hi,
I'm unable to choose the liquid theme in kcontrol with this package
(kde-theme-liquid). But the "Mosfet's Liquid" section is present.

I don't have the problem with the mosfet package, so I removed the

Is it a packaging problem or something I haven't done ?

Starting KDM

2003-02-04 Thread Jerry Van Brimmer
Sorry for the crosspost, I posted this on the debian-user list, but maybe it's
more of a KDE question. Any help/ideas appreciated.

Thanks
Hello,
I have Woody installed. I wanted to have X support for an ATI Radeon
7500 card so I upgraded to XFree86 version 4.2.0. I downloaded all of
the files from the XFree86 website and installed them according to their
instructions. I use KDE 2.2.2 as my window manager, and KDM as my login
manager. Everything worked fine before the XFree upgrade. However, now
when I boot up, Woody goes straight to a console login prompt. I have
RTFineM. My /etc/X11/default-display-manager file says /usr/bin/kdm. I
have KDM installed. I have run "dpkg-reconfigure kdm" and set kdm as
default. When I ran "update-rc.d kdm defaults" it says that 'System
startup links for /etc/init.d/kdm' already exists. Still, everytime I
boot up, Woody goes straight to a console login prompt. If I then login
as user, and then run "startx", then KDE starts up. I want KDM to start
up at bootup. What could be wrong?
debian_newbie,
Thanks

I'm sorry about this, I thought Ralf knew what he was doing when he
started moving the .la files around again. I had previously verified
all the .la files that needed to be in runtime packages and put them
there, he then proceeded to move them back to the development packages.
I thought he had fixed the code to work without the .la files but
obviously not.

Ralf - Did you test that any of the .la files you moved worked without
them? Or do I need to revert all those changes?

Thanks,

Chris

Actually Ralf did revert that particular file about 3 days ago shortly
before the set of debs I built to upload to Debian sid. However I still
need to find out how he determined what shouldn't go into runtime in
case we have a few more surprises come up.

BTW - at least arts/kdelibs will be going into sid tomorrow, ftpadmin
team is adding the overrides while I am writing this email. 8)
