artsd crashes on start
Hi, I've got some problems witg artsd. I do not have root access to the machine, but I'm trying to find out what's the problem so I can point the computer guys in the right direction. My machine has the following soundcard: Multimedia audio controller: Yamaha Corporation YMF-724F [DS-1 Audio Controller] (rev 03) and has the 'ymfpci' module loaded, with a host of other modules that have something to do with sound ymfpci 36768 0 uart401 6224 0 [ymfpci] sound 57504 0 [uart401] soundlow 464 0 [sound] soundcore 2608 5 [ymfpci sound] ac97_codec 7472 0 [ymfpci] Now the problem is this: When I try to start artsd it crashes with the following message: bash$ artsd -l 0 autodetecting driver: - oss: 10 - null: 0 ... which means we'll default to oss device capabilities: revision0 buffering: 2 fragments with 2048 bytes (audio latency is 23.2 ms) AudioIOOSS: failed prefilling audio buffer (might cause synchronization problems in conjunction with full duplex) device capabilities: revision0 buffering: 2 fragments with 2048 bytes (audio latency is 23.2 ms) AudioIOOSS: failed prefilling audio buffer (might cause synchronization problems in conjunction with full duplex) audio format is 44100 Hz, 16 bits, 2 channels addDirectory(/usr/public/kde/lib/mcop,) addDirectory(/usr/public/kde/lib/mcop/Arts,Arts) addDirectory(/usr/public/kde/lib/mcop/Noatun,Noatun) addDirectory(/user/tdykstra/.mcop/trader-cache,) unix_connect: can't connect to server (unix:/tmp/mcop-tdykstra/foscari-5bfc-3cb3f0b5) Arts::MidiManager registered successfully. Aborted (core dumped) Sound does work okay with esd/gnome, but I want to use kde and that means arts (or not, can use esd instead?). Does anybody has a clue what is going on? FAQ: Compil KDE3 on Woody
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, If there is a FAQ somewhere, this should go in : 1. list of packages needed to compil KDE3, 2. first, compil arts-1.x 3. works with gcc 2.95.4-14 (so far, I have been able to compil kdelib and arts). Then, I have some unanswered questions :;o) With KDE3, there is a source qt-copy-3.0.3.tar.bz2. Is this necessary to compil and use KDE3 on Woody ? Or the Debian packages libqt3 can be used instead ? What are the differences between these packages and qt-copy-3.0.3.tar.bz2 ? I have installed the following : r2d2:$ dpkg -l 'libqt3*' --=== ii libqt3 3.0.3-20020329-1 Qt GUI Library (runtime version). ii libqt3-dev 3.0.3-20020329-1 Qt GUI development files un libqt3-emb un libqt3-emb-dev un libqt3-gl ii libqt3-mt3.0.3-20020329-1 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime version). ii libqt3-mt-dev3.0.3-20020329-1 Qt Threaded development files un libqt3-mt-mysql un libqt3-mt-odbc un libqt3-mt-psql ii libqt3-mysql 3.0.1-1 Mysql database plugin for Qt3 un libqt3-odbc un libqt3-psql And should I install both the threaded packages *-mt-* and the not threaded ? Thanks, Yann PS: Please cc: to me, I didn't subscribe to debian-kde. - -- Chef de projet Linux / Linux project manager Juillerat-Grin SA http://www.codalis.ch -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8tucNm4KYjQo0y9oRAkQWAKCMb8aMj7kJNLjvFPSx24Mf1FopbwCgmsG6 m0V5NcAbuDMEUGDorP+rzUo= =L1Lf -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". There are four or five duplicate bug reports about it, all of which are closed as duplicates, but I can't find the original to see whether the issue was actually closed or not. I'd like to just apply the patch for that fix rather than get the CVS kdebase, but I can't find it in the code. I would appreciate any off-list help from anyone who's a little more familiar with the code. - -- [!] Justin R. Or the Debian packages libqt3 can be used > instead ? It is not necessary, but the kde developers use their own copy of qt to eliminate some qt bugs that trolltech can't fix fast enough. I use it, because it provides best compatibility with kde, and I have no other qt applications. > And should I install both the threaded packages *-mt-* and the not threaded > ? Yes, kde3 takes advantage of the threaded qt library iirc. If you would like to put these pieces together to a complete FAQ, you're welcome of course :-) Greetings Bastian -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8tvm1v6f/bf4UHAERAqO7AJ0QIm3NOQlSh5AcwG9LXWtXzCZghACfewh3 qm7pjrx63kzu9G9FIMEfWD4= =ZzJn -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Re: assign icons to non-kde apps
Well I already knew that! It just changes the icon on the k-menu NOT when you run the program, right? When looking in the taskbar (or whatever it's called where running program are shown.((or just looking at the icon in the top-left of the terminal running)) ) and not the k-menu I shure just get a big X and not the icon I selected. /Robert On Fri, 2002-04-12 at 00:04, Achim Bohnet wrote: > On Thursday 11 April 2002 23:51, Robert Lindgren wrote: > > Hi all. > > > > Since nobody has answered this I guess it's not possible to get a fancy > > icon to all those rxvt terminals in my taskbar? or for gkrellm, or for > > any other non-kde app that doesn't have it's own icon. The trouble with that is that imlib is compiled against libpng2 so I can't compile Kuickshow. Anyone know how to solve that?
