Remote shutdown ... of Win95
Hi, I have POTATO firewall which controls UPS status and want to shutdown all machines on power failure. I use UPSD in client mode for UN*X workstations but I also have one running M$Win95... Any ideas how can I shutdown Windows95 remotely from Linux ? Best regards, Piotr Tarnowski

long hang time for ftp
I just installed wu_ftp, and it's doing the infamous "hang for a minute, then let you login normally" trick. I'm also using xinetd (for security reasons, was told it was better) so it isn't a default install. How do I get rid of this "hang-time" before the login prompt appears? I've searched from hell to highwater for a place to turn off reverse-dns lookups (as that's what I suspect the issue is) but haven't found anything. Ideas? D.A.Bishop

It's probably a DNS issue. Sooo.. how do I fix it? I assume I am going to run into this problem quite often, because a lot of dial-up users, as well as others don't have a resolvable IP, and I can't fix their end. Then I had to add a line: "MAILDIR=Maildir" to /etc/init.d/courier-imap to set that environment variable so it would find my Maildir directories. I think courier-pop may need the same. The installation trashed the contents of /etc/pam.d/imap (I took a copy from the potato courier-imapd package) and I had to fiddle with /etc/courier/imapd to get it to authenticate. I have not setup the pop3d, but I would expect similar problems. I had to add a few symbolic links to get sqwebmail to work, but I have still not managed to get it to authenticate. (My source code compilation did authenticate, so there can't be too much missing). I think these may be general bugs in an unstable package, as opposed to potato specific. I have a number of site where I would like to deploy this package, and if it can be by means of an upgradeable *.deb, it will be worth the effort.
