gcc 3.0 stdio,h

2001-06-24 Thread rb
I've installed gcc-3.0
This code:
#include
int main () {
return 0;
}
gives syntax error to me.
Attached there is a little more.
Can you say anything.
My solution was to delete
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/3.0/include/stdio.h
but is this THE solution?
Anyone can tell me that this is the only "dangerous" file?
best regards
Leopoldo Cerbaro

Package: gcc-defaults
Version: 0.8
Severity: serious

Hi. We are replacing the hackish 'gnupro' toolchain package for ia64 with
properly crafted 2.96 packages as defaults, and 3.0 available as an option.
Please change the gcc-defaults package to use 2.96 as the default for ia64.

I'm making this bug release critical since it needs to be resolved before
woody's release.

Patch from 0.8 to what I'm calling 0.8.1 is attached, which yields 2.96-1
versions for ia64 which will be uploaded. When you merge the patch, do
whatever feels right to you for the version suffix... I see no real value in
the REL_NO_30 stuff, but if you want to create a REL_NO_296 we won't mind.

Thanks!

Bdale

Hi,

according to http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html#known, it would seem to be a good
idea to compile g++-3.0 with the --use-cxa-atexit switch:

>Global destructors are not run in the correct order

>Global destructors should be run in the reverse order of their constructors

A more detailed explanation is given in:

While porting to the Hurd, I came across a bug in binary-libstdcxx.mk.
I corrected the bug and reran `debian/rules binary-arch'. However,
because it had *already* moved some files around, it's not capable of
resuming where it was after a failure.

(These fixes will be sent in a seperate bug report...)

I suspect the best fix is to 'rm 07-install-stamp' at the beginning of
each new section where files are moved around, and then touch it again
when everything is in a resumable state again. The install step could
then still skip the succesful sections that had been copied correctly.

Tks,
Jeff Bailey

Package: gcj
Version: 1:2.95.2-14
Severity: important

When attempting to compile the following two programs with gcj...

--- BEGIN PROGRAM 1 ---
public class Mutual1 {
  private Mutual2 m;
}
--- BEGIN PROGRAM 2 ---
public class Mutual2 {
  private Mutual1 m;
}
--- END ---

...gcj will segfault...

--- BEGIN SAMPLE SESSION ---
[bash/2.04.0] [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Code/Java/mutual $ gcj Mutual1.java
gcj: Internal compiler error: program jc1 got fatal signal 11
--- END SAMPLE SESSION ---

My guess is that the mutual dependency illustrated above is causing a stack
overflow, and thus, a segfault. Note that Sun's `javac' compiler (from the
`jdk1.1') package does not have any problems with this.

Regards,

Alex.

Package: gcj
Version: 1:2.95.2-2
Severity: normal

A program which uses Runtime.exec works fine when compiled as bytecode
but not when compiled as native code.

Here is the program:

import java.io.DataInputStream;
import java.io.InputStream;

public class Execute {

  public static void main (String []arguments) throws java.io.IOException
{
boolean over = false;
String line;
Runtime syst = Runtime.getRuntime ();
Process p = syst.exec ("ls");
DataInputStream stdout = new DataInputStream (p.getInputStream ());
while (! over) {
line = stdout.readLine ();
if (line == null) {
over = true;
}
else {
System.out.println (line);
}
}
}

}

Here is the output:

1) OK

ezili:~/etudes/Java/essais> gcj -C Execute.java

ezili:~/etudes/Java/essais> java Execute
Execute.class
Execute.java
Execute.java~
a.out

2) Not OK

ezili:~/etudes/Java/essais> gcj --main=Execute -o Execute Execute.java

ezili:~/etudes/Java/essais> ./Execute

  $ /usr/bin/gcj -classpath /tmp HelloWorld.java
  jc1: Invalid option `-fclasspath=/tmp'

jc1 does claim to accept `--classpath' (not sure whether path is to be
specified in separate argument or in =PATH form), but not
`-fclasspath=PATH'.

(Incidentally, gcj doesn't document having a `-classpath' flag at all, so
 you might wish to reassign this bug to libgcj0, which uses the flag when
 being compiled. (Maybe `-classpath' worked on an earlier gcj?) But I
 suggest that a `-classpath' flag is useful given that it's accepted by
 jdk javac.)
