Bug#477425: [glob2] Uninstallable on i386

2008-04-23 Thread Raphael Plasson

Package: glob2
Version: 0.8.23-1.1
Severity: grave

Subject: glob2: Uninstallable on i386
Package: glob2
Version: 0.8.23-1.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

glob2 as been recently updated to the version 0.9.2-1. However, if the
package glob2-data was correctly updated to all architectures, the
package glob2 remained in the old version 0.8.23-1.1 for all
architectures but amd64. As a consequence, glob2 is uninstallable on all
architecures but amd64, or can't be upgraded if already installed (the
upgrade of glob2-data leads to the uninstallation of glob2).

soft resetting the palm does nothing I need to hard reset it (thus the

I am not sure to understand the procedure you used.

You start with an non-existant ~/.jpilot directory
You start jpilot
You do a first sync
After the sync the Palm is blocked.

Is that the exact procedure you used?

Bug#477244:

2008-04-23 Thread rjb_bugs
I've encountered the same problem, but I've discovered that if googleearth is
run from a command line, it works fine. Just launching from the
Gnome->Internet->Google Earth launcher (or copies thereof) cause the server
login to fail.

Using Wireshark, I've noticed that when launched from a launcher, Googleearth
does not make any attempt to contact its server.

I've also discovered that when the "Run in terminal" option on the launcher is
checked, Googleearth will work when launched from the launcher.

Haven't figured precisely why googleearth works when started in a terminal and
not when started from a launcher, though. At least there's a workaround.

I'm using the amd64 version of Debian, too.

Bug#477433: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: depending on new dpkg-dev

2008-04-23 Thread Hervé Cauwelier
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Hi,

Building of radeonhd requires dpkg-dev > 1.14.16.6 but it doesn't tell
so.

I realized it when I had an error building the package:

  dh_shlibdeps -- --warnings=6

My version didn't know this option. I had to install dpkg 1.14.18 before
being able to finish the build process.

I couldn't tell from the changelog of dpkg if this new feature was
brought by version 1.14.17 or 1.14.18.

Bug#477438: roundup: Security update 1.2.1-5+etch1 breaks page rendering

2008-04-23 Thread Floris Bruynooghe
Package: roundup
Version: 1.2.1-5+etch1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi

The recent security update into etch, 1.2.1-5+etch1 breaks the page
rendering (templating) of roundup making all the trackers it runs
useless. For the benefit of search engines, here the last part of the
traceback:

[...]
File "", line 2, in f
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/roundup/cgi/templating.py", line 1200,
in __str__
return self.plain()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/roundup/cgi/templating.py", line 1760,
in plain
if escape:
NameError: global name 'escape' is not defined

Comparing the code of templating.py with the previous version makes the
fix obvious luckily. In templating.py on line 2698 change:

def plain(self):

back into:

def plain(self, escape=0):

Note that I didn't cross-check the CVE (it mentions escaping user input
in #472643) so maybe defaulting to the old '0' is not correct and it
should be '1' to fix the CVE. I don't know that much about it, all I
know is that I want a working system (and since it's internal I trust
my users...)

Regards
Floris

Bug#477440: phpbb3: After install all I get is Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.

2008-04-23 Thread Nigel Horne
Package: phpbb3
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After doing "apt-get install phpbb3" I restarted apache2 as advised.
Nothing says what to do next so I hunted and found in conf.d to point
my browser to .../phpbb which I did. All I get is
"Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.". No clues or hints on
how to make it available.

I click on "login" and am asked for a username and password, but none of
the installation procedure asked me to enter them (it only asked me
for the MySQL username/password). So I'm now stumped.

The board is disabled on first install to prevent spammers going wild with it
right away.

I'm sorry that you're stumped, but the topmost section
of /usr/share/doc/phpbb3/README.Debian tells you which steps to take to
login.

I'm downgrading this to a wishlist to maybe ask the person installing the
board for admin credentials during installation.

Hi,
since SVN revision r4027 quodlibet's source code is personally insulting

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386

Bug#477459: jasmin-sable: Missing dependency on cup

2008-04-23 Thread Göran Weinholt
Package: jasmin-sable
Version: 2.2.4-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

Jasmin apparently doesn't work without cup, so there is a missing
Depends:. Furthermore the jasmin wrapper does not put cup in the
classpath. I don't normally run Java programs, so maybe I'm doing
something wrong, but this is what I've observed:

Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Bug#476689: [debian-archive-keyring] Downgrading dependency of gnupg causes failure to cdebootstrap minimal chroot

2008-04-23 Thread Kel Modderman
Is anyone interested in fix this this bug?

It has been bounced around the BTS, is incorrectly marked as "wontfix" after
the last forcemerge, and no response to last suggestion a few days ago.

To reiterate:
The downgrade of dependency of gnupg to recommends causes problems because
apt cannot handle this situation gracefully (as shown by waldi). The dependency
should be reinstated until such a time apt has adjusted.

Thanks, Kel.

Bug#477482: [cupsys-bsd] Common file with cupsys

2008-04-23 Thread David
Package: cupsys-bsd
Version: 1.3.7-4
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Today, when upgrading libwine-print, apt told me to install cupsys-bsd and
remove lpr. OK. But, when committing changes, an error occurred:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/cupsys-bsd_1.3.7-4_i386.deb: trying to overwrite
`/usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-lpd', which is also in package cupsys.

Please fix ASAP, now my package list is broken and I can do nothing with apt
:-(

Thank you

Version: 2.20.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

when I configure X.org for a high resolution (e.g. 1280x1024), gdm does not
start. It logs the following to syslog:

Apr 23 12:19:10 c02pc gdm[9528]: WARNING: Xinerama active, but <= 0
screens?

I am using the default gdm-config and my xorg.conf is pasted below.
When I change 'Modes "1024x768"' to 'Modes "1280x1024"' gdm does not start.

Bug#476844: fglrx-kernel-src: Won't build with 2.6.25

2008-04-23 Thread Bertrand Marc

Hi,

There a patch (http://sarah-a-happy.livejournal.com/90345.html) that
allow to compile the module. He doesn't need to patch the kernel,
however a weird option has to be selected :

Kernel hacking  --->
[*] Enable unused/obsolete exported symbols

Be warned, I didn't test this patch and the guy doesn't claim it is a
correct patch.

Let's hope ATI will fix this as soon as possible. This was reported on
their Bugzilla, so we can count on a fix in 8.5.

Bug#477421: jpilot: makes palm Z22 crash after sync

Justification: causes serious data loss

After a sync with jpilot of my palm Z22, the palm is blocked with
message

"Fatal error
AddressLib.c, Line:395,
Invalid AppInfo Block"

soft resetting the palm does nothing I need to hard reset it (thus the
data loss).

I tried with a new profile (no .jpilot directory). The data where
almost all gathered from the palm, except the categories for the
contacts.

In case it helps...

I am not sure to understand the procedure you used.

You start with an non-existant ~/.jpilot directory
You start jpilot
You do a first sync
After the sync the Palm is blocked.

Is that the exact procedure you used?

Oui.

 pilot-xfer --port /dev/pilot --backup test-backup-palm

Listening for incoming connection on /dev/pilot... connected!

Bug#476876: Bug #476876 : Additional information, addressing conflicts?

2008-04-23 Thread Gary Lee Phillips
On suggestions received elsewhere, I tried this with Option "noaccel"
set, but it made no difference. The results, and the meaningless pixel
pattern on the screen, remained the same.

On another suggestion, I tried the vesa driver, which probably should
work with this card as well. That driver (current version is the same
for both etch and lenny as far as I can tell) also insists that the
"V_BIOS is not found" and that there are no usable modes. It doesn't
even try to initialize the display.

I notice in the Xorg.0.log for both drivers that the driver reports
the BIOS address as 8080. However, the lspci command reports it as
09c1. In the available resource listing, the 8080 address
block always appears, but 09c1 does not. Is there an address
translation going on that is not quite working?

The setpci command, when used to query the ROM address register of the
86C764/765 chipset, returns 8080 rather than the 09c1 returned
by lspci.

There were several similar bug reports in the freedesktop.org
reporting system dating to late 2006 and early 2007, but they are all
reported as fixed. These involved missing assigns or equates in the
source code. Is it possible that those fixes never filtered into the
Alpha source stream?

Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Package: freebsd-manpages
Version: 6.0-5
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

currently, freebsd-manpages conflicts against packages more or less
needed/wanted on linux-systems, like fdutils (and thus bootcd, etc.)
or linux-manual-*.
Therefor, there is currently no way to keep installed both, freebsd-
as well as linux-kernel-related manpages.

However, I could imagine at least two kinds of users who did like to
have installed both: users running linux only but having some interest
in freebsd (like me) and users who like to keep both systems in parallel
because of a dual-boot-scenario.

There are currently no conflicts between linux- and freebse-kernel
except the ones of the manual pages. Thus, conflicting here is probably
not the best idea all over.
Perhaps a better solution could be to separate the manpages by their
man section, i.e. [249]f for freebsd and [249]l for linux or something
like that.

Thanks for your work & regards
   Mario

There seems to be a problem with latest versions which is causing the plugin
not to build, you can see it on...

I'm wondering if the problem is on the plugin or on the libs :-? so if the
problem is on the libs this bug should be reassigned.

Package: jasmin-sable
Version: 2.2.4-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

Jasmin apparently doesn't work without cup, so there is a missing
Depends:. Furthermore the jasmin wrapper does not put cup in the
classpath. I don't normally run Java programs, so maybe I'm doing
something wrong, but this is what I've observed:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/examples$ jasmin HelloWorld.j
HelloWorld.j:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java_cup.runtime.Scanner not
found in java.lang.ClassLoader$1{urls=[file:/usr/share/java/jasmin-sable.jar],
parent=null}

   at jasmin.Main.main (Main.java:167)
   at java.lang.VirtualMachine.invokeMain (VirtualMachine.java)
   at java.lang.VirtualMachine.main (VirtualMachine.java:108)

Here I manually add cup to the classpath and everything seems to work:

Bug#477510: bluez-cups: it hangs the whole computer when trying to find a new printer

2008-04-23 Thread Miguel Gea Milvaques
Package: bluez-cups
Version: 3.30-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

If this packages is installed and I'll try to acces to cups web frontend,
Administration/Find New Printers, it makes the whole system hang.

It only happens with it installed, if I remove it the problem dissapear.

This could be a libbluetooth2 or kernel problem, but my bluetooth works
nice with other devices (telephone).

I didn't found any log in syslog, messages or kern.log.

lsusb shows my bluetooth as:
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth
Dongle (HCI mode)

Contact me for more information.

There wasn't any reason to upload for that, and specially not a reason
to change the build dependencies. You should just have asked the
release team to reschedule the packages on the arches that didn't
already do so, and close this bug without version. It wasn't a bug in
this package.

There is also no reason to change the urgency since this bug does not
affect testing. It's not even a bug in your package.

Bug#477515: libacl1: Installs files in /lib64, breaks the system.

2008-04-23 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: libacl1
Version: 2.2.47-1
Severity: critical

Hi,

It seems that libacl1 changed the location from
/lib/libacl.so.1 to /lib64/libacl.so.1 on amd64 and so is breaking
every amd64 system.

Could some ftp master please unaccept the acl 2.2.47-1 package?

The changelog says things like:
 W: acl: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath ./usr/bin/chacl /lib64
 W: acl: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath ./usr/bin/getfacl /lib64
 W: acl: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath ./usr/bin/setfacl /lib64

This should atleast have given you an indication that something was
wrong. It would also help say what you changed, this tell us nothing.

Bug#477515: Acknowledgement (libacl1: Installs files in /lib64, breaks the system.)

2008-04-23 Thread Kurt Roeckx
So, I've NMU'd it. I've attached the patch I've uploaded.

A better changelog entry might be:
  * Don't call configure with --enable-lib64=yes.
This fixes the lib64 rpaths, so no need to call chrpath anymore.

But I was in a bit of a hurry.

So the first upload was rejected because I used the wrong debsign. So
I've fixed the changelog entry and now it says:
acl (2.2.47-1.1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Don't call configure with --enable-lib64=yes.  (Closes: #477515)
This fixes the lib64 rpaths, so no need to call chrpath anymore.

Thanks

The pre-depends on audacious-plugins is not necessary, audacious already
depends on it.

Attached is the diff for that. Will you need someone else to make an NMU
upload? I could make it.

Regards.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Bug#471041: Patch

2008-04-23 Thread Adam Cécile (Le_Vert)
This pre-depends was needed because of files moved between audacious and

Please don't upload any NMU if you haven't checked that etch->lenny
updates work.

The pre-depends on audacious-plugins is not necessary, audacious already
depends on it.

Attached is the diff for that. Will you need someone else to make an NMU

Package: libacl1
Version: 2.2.47-1
Severity: critical

Hi,

It seems that libacl1 changed the location from
/lib/libacl.so.1 to /lib64/libacl.so.1 on amd64 and so is breaking
every amd64 system.

Could some ftp master please unaccept the acl 2.2.47-1 package?

The changelog says things like:
 W: acl: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath ./usr/bin/chacl /lib64
 W: acl: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath ./usr/bin/getfacl /lib64
 W: acl: binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath ./usr/bin/setfacl /lib64

This should atleast have given you an indication that something was
wrong. It would also help say what you changed, this tell us nothing.

Kurt

Package: statcvs
Version: 0.3.dfsg-4
Severity: serious

Hi,

The statcvs package lacks a source tarball in the archive since April
10. From ftp.debian.org:

> ls -l
-rw-rw-r--1 1176 1176 5959 Apr 10 22:17
statcvs_0.3.dfsg-4.diff.gz
-rw-rw-r--1 1176 1176 960 Apr 10 22:17 statcvs_0.3.dfsg-4.dsc
-rw-rw-r--1 1176 1176 382608 Apr 10 22:17
statcvs_0.3.dfsg-4_all.deb

I discussed this on #debian-devel and was told that I should file a
bug against this package, Debbugs-Cc: to ftpmaster. Here's some
relevant lines from IRC (removed a lot of noise and hopefully nothing
too relevant):

Hi. There's a package without source in ftp.debian.org since
April 10 (see debian/pool/main/s/statcvs/, the source tarball is
missing). Should I file a bug against statcvs or ftp.debian.org?
did it move, the wrong way, from contrib/non-free to main?
 Ganneff: yes
file a bug against the package, high severity, to upload a
  "new" upstream version
 No bug against ftp.debian.org?
no. they can fix it pretty fast if they just upload a "new"
  upstream
rename the tarball to some +dfsg one
 Ganneff: how did it happen?
astronut: bug in dak if you do the move wrongly
 it's 0.3.dfsg anyway
 ah
 make it 0.3.dfsg1
it only happens if the maintainer doesnt use -sa... (well.
dak needs a fix, we know that)

Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Hi!

The FindQt4.cmake checks for existance of zlib, any existing x development
thingcie, glib, fontconfig and freetype and links the resulting binaries
against those.

After libqt4-dev have cleaned up its dependencies, packages are now failing
because of this.

Bug#473340: grub-probe: "cannot find a GRUB drive for ...."

2008-04-23 Thread Marcus Better
I got this error too after upgrading GRUB from 0.97-32 to 0.97-36. Turns out
my device.map had this:

~$ cat /boot/grub/device.map
(hd0) /dev/hda

But the device name changed to /dev/sda a long time ago, when I switched to
the new SATA drivers. Correcting the device.map fixes the problem. Apparently
this GRUB version is less tolerant to this error.

I'm downgrading bug severity for now, if you do not give more details, I

Je vais tester dès que possible. Cependant je ne passe pas par la

C'est une incompatibilité qu'on retrouve sur google...

En tout cas voilà ce que ça donne sur un palm sans données

Comment tu remets les données sur le Palm après le hard reset et avant

Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Relevant part:
> gcc -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -I/usr/X11R6/include -O3 -m486 -falign-loops=2
> -falign-jumps=2 -falign-functions=2 -DARCH_I386 -c -o bin-i686/hdlc.o hdlc.c

> make[1]: *** [bin-i686/hdlc.o] Error 1

The full build log is available from:
   http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2008/04/07

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.
