Bug#477425: [glob2] Uninstallable on i386
Package: glob2 Version: 0.8.23-1.1 Severity: grave Subject: glob2: Uninstallable on i386 Package: glob2 Version: 0.8.23-1.1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable glob2 as been recently updated to the version 0.9.2-1. However, if the package glob2-data was correctly updated to all architectures, the package glob2 remained in the old version 0.8.23-1.1 for all architectures but amd64. As a consequence, glob2 is uninstallable on all architecures but amd64, or can't be upgraded if already installed (the upgrade of glob2-data leads to the uninstallation of glob2). Bug#477244:
I've encountered the same problem, but I've discovered that if googleearth is run from a command line, it works fine. Just launching from the Gnome->Internet->Google Earth launcher (or copies thereof) cause the server login to fail. Using Wireshark, I've noticed that when launched from a launcher, Googleearth does not make any attempt to contact its server. I've also discovered that when the "Run in terminal" option on the launcher is checked, Googleearth will work when launched from the launcher. Haven't figured precisely why googleearth works when started in a terminal and not when started from a launcher, though. At least there's a workaround. I'm using the amd64 version of Debian, too. Bug#477433: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: depending on new dpkg-dev
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd Version: 1.2.1-1 Severity: serious Justification: no longer builds from source Hi, Building of radeonhd requires dpkg-dev > 1.14.16.6 but it doesn't tell so. So I'm now stumped. I'm sorry that you're stumped, but the topmost section of /usr/share/doc/phpbb3/README.Debian tells you which steps to take to login. I'm downgrading this to a wishlist to maybe ask the person installing the board for admin credentials during installation. cheers, Thijs pgp5STGLZr24D.pgp Description: PGP signature

Package: jasmin-sable Version: 2.2.4-1 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 3.5 Jasmin apparently doesn't work without cup, so there is a missing Depends:. Furthermore the jasmin wrapper does not put cup in the classpath. I don't normally run Java programs, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this is what I've observed: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/examples$ jasmin HelloWorld.j HelloWorld.j:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java_cup.runtime.Scanner not found in java.lang.ClassLoader$1{urls=[file:/usr/share/java/jasmin-sable.jar], parent=null} at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass (URLClassLoader.java:870) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass (ClassLoader.java:359) at java.lang.ClassLoader$1.loadClass (ClassLoader.java:1333) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass (ClassLoader.java:310) at java.lang.VirtualMachine.createClass (VirtualMachine.java:116) at java.lang.VMClassLoader.nativeDefineClass (VMClassLoader.java) at java.lang.VMClassLoader.defineClass (VMClassLoader.java:130) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass (ClassLoader.java:679) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass (SecureClassLoader.java:108) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass (URLClassLoader.java:955) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass (ClassLoader.java:359) at java.lang.ClassLoader$1.loadClass (ClassLoader.java:1333) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass (ClassLoader.java:310) at java.lang.VirtualMachine.createClass (VirtualMachine.java:116) at jasmin.ClassFile.readJasmin (ClassFile.java:1045) at jasmin.Main.assemble (Main.java:74) at jasmin.Main.main (Main.java:167) at java.lang.VirtualMachine.invokeMain (VirtualMachine.java) at java.lang.VirtualMachine.main (VirtualMachine.java:108) Here I manually add cup to the classpath and everything seems to work: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/examples$ java -cp /usr/share/java/jasmin-sable.jar:/usr/share/java/cup.jar jasmin.Main HelloWorld.j [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/examples$ ls -la examples/HelloWorld.class -rw-r--r-- 1 weinholt weinholt 386 2008-04-23 12:55 examples/HelloWorld.class -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages jasmin-sable depends on: ii sablevm [java-virtual-machine 1.13-1.2 Free implementation of Java Virtua jasmin-sable recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#476689: [debian-archive-keyring] Downgrading dependency of gnupg causes failure to cdebootstrap minimal chroot
Is anyone interested in fix this this bug? It has been bounced around the BTS, is incorrectly marked as "wontfix" after the last forcemerge, and no response to last suggestion a few days ago. To reiterate: The downgrade of dependency of gnupg to recommends causes problems because apt cannot handle this situation gracefully (as shown by waldi). The dependency should be reinstated until such a time apt has adjusted. Thanks, Kel. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#476844: fglrx-kernel-src: Won't build with 2.6.25
Hi, There a patch (http://sarah-a-happy.livejournal.com/90345.html) that allow to compile the module. He doesn't need to patch the kernel, however a weird option has to be selected : Kernel hacking ---> [*] Enable unused/obsolete exported symbols Be warned, I didn't test this patch and the guy doesn't claim it is a correct patch. Let's hope ATI will fix this as soon as possible. This was reported on their Bugzilla, so we can count on a fix in 8.5. Bug#476876: Bug #476876 : Additional information, addressing conflicts?
On suggestions received elsewhere, I tried this with Option "noaccel" set, but it made no difference. The results, and the meaningless pixel pattern on the screen, remained the same. On another suggestion, I tried the vesa driver, which probably should work with this card as well. That driver (current version is the same for both etch and lenny as far as I can tell) also insists that the "V_BIOS is not found" and that there are no usable modes. It doesn't even try to initialize the display. I notice in the Xorg.0.log for both drivers that the driver reports the BIOS address as 8080. However, the lspci command reports it as 09c1. In the available resource listing, the 8080 address block always appears, but 09c1 does not. Is there an address translation going on that is not quite working? The setpci command, when used to query the ROM address register of the 86C764/765 chipset, returns 8080 rather than the 09c1 returned by lspci. There were several similar bug reports in the freedesktop.org reporting system dating to late 2006 and early 2007, but they are all reported as fixed. These involved missing assigns or equates in the source code. Is it possible that those fixes never filtered into the Alpha source stream? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

However, I could imagine at least two kinds of users who did like to have installed both: users running linux only but having some interest in freebsd (like me) and users who like to keep both systems in parallel because of a dual-boot-scenario. There are currently no conflicts between linux- and freebse-kernel except the ones of the manual pages. Thus, conflicting here is probably not the best idea all over. Perhaps a better solution could be to separate the manpages by their man section, i.e. [249]f for freebsd and [249]l for linux or something like that. Thanks for your work & regards Mario -- Ho ho ho! I am Santa Claus of Borg. Bug#471041: Patch
This pre-depends was needed because of files moved between audacious and audacious-plugins packages. Please don't upload any NMU if you haven't checked that etch->lenny updates work. Regards, Adam. Gerardo Curiel a écrit : tags 471041 + patch Thanks The pre-depends on audacious-plugins is not necessary, audacious already depends on it. Attached is the diff for that. Will you need someone else to make an NMU upload? I could make it. Regards.

Bug#473340: grub-probe: "cannot find a GRUB drive for ...."
I got this error too after upgrading GRUB from 0.97-32 to 0.97-36. Turns out my device.map had this: ~$ cat /boot/grub/device.map (hd0) /dev/hda But the device name changed to /dev/sda a long time ago, when I switched to the new SATA drivers. Correcting the device.map fixes the problem. Apparently this GRUB version is less tolerant to this error. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#477421: jpilot: makes palm Z22 crash after sync
-- Dr. Ludovic Rousseau

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet). Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with gcc 4.2). You're welcome to contribute! About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386 environment.
