Bug#356007: cl-pdf: package dependencies do not match cl-pdf ASDF dependencies

2006-03-09 Thread Phillip Garland
Package: cl-pdf
Version: 108-1
Severity: grave

The cl-pdf ASDF system definition ends with this line:

:depends-on (:iterate #+use-salza-zlib :salza))

but the cl-pdf package does not depend on cl-iterate and
cl-salza. Loading cl-pdf fails if cl-iterate or cl-salza is not
installed.

Thanks,
~Phillip

Ok, well, the strace you forwarded clearly didn't come from an instance in
which typespeed segfaulted.

Please run strace -ff /var/lib/dpkg/info/typespeed.postinst configure, and
forward that output to the bugreport so that we can see whether the segfault
is reproducible -- and if so, if we can get some information from it.

Cheers,

Bug#356014: openexr: FTBFS: Missing Build-Depends

*** that is required on your system.

make: *** [config.status] Error 1

Installing zlib1g-dev in addition to the packages listed in the Build-Depends
allows building the package again. It appears one of the other packages used
to bring that in indirectly, but doesn't any more.

Bug#356016: runit: setting of multiple groups using -u is broken

2006-03-09 Thread Tino Keitel
Package: runit
Version: 1.3.3-1
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

Hi Gerrit,

As I told you during lunch a few weeks ago, the chpst binary in the
Sid package of runit behaves buggy regarding multiple groups in the
-u parameter:

$ strace -s 4096 -f /usr/bin/chpst -u
nobody:ipod:nogroup:camera:mythtv/bin/sleep 1 2>&1 | grep setgroups

setgroups(4, [1006, 0, 65534, 0])   = 0

The 0 groups are wrong here, so the process gets permissions for the
root group where is shouldn't!

The correct group IDs look like this:

$ grep -E "ipod|nogroup|camera|mythtv" /etc/group
nogroup:x:65534:
mythtv:x:110:scorpion
ipod:x:1006:scorpion
camera:x:1009:scorpion

A chpst binary built using just "make" on my unstable system (which will be
linked against glibc) behaves correctly:

$ strace -s 4096 -f src/runit-1.3.3/admin/runit-1.3.3/src/chpst -u
nobody:ipod:nogroup:camera:mythtv /bin/sleep 1 2>&1 | grep setgroups

setgroups32(4, [1006, 65534, 1009, 110]) = 0

I think the reason is that dietlibc handles the gid_t type as 16 bit on
i386. In /usr/include/diet/sys/types.h, I found this:

#elif defined(__arm__) || defined(__i386__) || defined(__sparc__) ||
defined(__s390__) /* make sure __s390x__ hits before __s390__ */
typedef uint16_t dev_t;
typedef uint16_t gid_t;

Whereas glibc uses 32 bit for gid_t on i386.

In chpst, a struct uidgid will be used to build the list for setgroups,
and it uses int for the groups:

struct uidgid {
  int uid;
  int gid[61];
  int gids;
};

Therefore, on the little endian i386 architecture with dietlibc, the
list of 32 bit values supplied by chpst will be threated as a list of
16 bit values in setgroups(), resulting in a 0 on each second list entry.

I suggest to use gid_t in the struct uidgid to fix this.

Regards,
Tino

And why do you report that against OOo? This is gcj failing.
reassigning. Maybe because you have a mismatch of gcc and gcj?

Builds fine here. And why do you want to rebuild it when 2.0.1-5 is in
testing anyway? ;-)

This bug report is filed against the source package which builds
a library depending on libstdc++6 and defining or referencing
*mt_alloc* symbols. The package has to be rebuilt with either
g++-4.0_4.0.2-4 or g++-3.4_3.4.4-10 (or newer). Please rename the
library package to a name with a "c2a" suffix, and adjust the build
dependencies if dependencies on another renamed library do exist.

Do *not* yet upload the package, but wait for a followup mail to this
bug report.

If this bug report is for some reason invalid, please close it with

I set a bunch of breakpoints to see where the stack got corrupted, i.e.
where backtrace started printing question marks. It turned out the code
was using an XAnyEvent (size 20) in place of an XEvent (size 96); thus
the overrun.

Mostly harmless as far as I can tell, but patches are always welcome. ;)

Cheers,

Matej

Hi,

Unpacking heimdal-dev (from .../heimdal-dev_0.7.1-3_hurd-i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/home/mbanck/build/upload/todo/./heimdal-dev_0.7.1-3_hurd-i386.deb

http://packages.debian.net has this:
usr/include/ss/ss.h  devel/heimdal-dev,libdevel/ss-dev,net/kerberos4kth-dev

As heimdal does not appear to ship libss, I guess this file should not
be shipped in heimdal-dev.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to produce this patch. gnat-glade
3.15p-10 fixes this problem already. It has been on
www.ada-france.org/debian for several days, but my sponsor has not
found the time to upload it to Debian. Please feel free to perform
the upload if you want to (please notify Alexander if you do).

(3.15p-9 was also available for a while on ada-france, but nobody
took the time to upload to Debian)

(Alexander, PLEASE expedite my new maintainer process - I've been
maintaining packages for 32 months and I'm still not a Debian
developer; this is becoming embarassing for Debian's image.)

Bug#356055: loadlin: loadlin.exe cannot be built from source

2006-03-09 Thread Sven Joachim

Package: loadlin
Version: 1.6c.really1.6c-1
Severity: serious

The DOS executable loadlin.exe is not rebuilt in the maintainer
scripts, and it appears it even cannot be built with programs in
Debian since the makefile in the src directory starts as follows:

# Makefile for LOADLIN-1.6 (C) 1994..1995 Hans Lermen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
#
# To compile with Borland TASM 3.1
#
LISTING = ,
#CCFLAGS = -ml -v -1 -w-pia -f- -y -G -IC:\TC\INCLUDE -LC:\TC\LIB
CCFLAGS = -ml -1 -w-pia -f- -G -IC:\TC\INCLUDE -LC:\TC\LIB
AS  = tasm
...etc

This suggests that one needs Borland's TASM to assemble loadlin. There
are two possibilities to resolve this:

(a) Try if loadlin.exe can be built with one of the free assemblers in
Debian, e.g. NASM, and update debian/control and debian/rules
accordingly.

(b) Failing that, move the loadlin package to the contrib section, see
sections 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 of the Policy Manual.

Bug#355145: pam-tmpdir FTBFS

> I'll investigate and see where it comes from.

It looks like it has the same buggy code as tcl.m4, though -- maybe the
upstream author originally copied it from there.

The problem is in:

if test -r /etc/.relid -a "X`uname -n`" = "X`uname -s`" ; then
system=MP-RAS-`awk '{print $3}' /etc/.relid'`
fi

The extraneous single quote after .relid on the middle line derails bash's
parser until eventually it finds something else which doesn't make sense to
it and complains about that instead. The fix is simply to remove that single
quote (at least in other packages).

Package: krb4
Version: 1.2.2-11.2
Priority: serious

This source package includes kerberos4kth1, kerberos4kth-services,
kerberos4kth-user and kerberos4kth-x11. All these four packages
are dummy packages that were present in woody, sarge, etch and sid.
As these are dummy transition-only package (for potato?), there
is no reason any of these packages should still exist in the distribution.

Notice that we currently only support upgrade paths from stable
(currently sarge) to "new stable" (currently etch) and in both
these distributions this package is a dummy package. For more
information read the Release Notes [1].

If this package is no longer required, please remove the package from
your control file in your next upload or ask for its removal by
reassigning this bug to ftp.debian.org, whatever is appropiate.

Please also reassign any of the relevant bugs attached to the dummy
packages to the packages that replaces them. [2]

When booting from a cdrom burned with mondorescue.iso, the kernel and

I don't have a patch but can give a hint. For my setup, I had to put
ide-generic back in mindi (IDE_MODS) in order to make the cdrom works

Bug#350390: gnubg: immediate segfault on AMD64

2006-03-09 Thread Anders Brandt Petersen

Russ Allbery wrote:

Aha. I bet there was never a problem with Guile at all.

Would it be possible for you to apply a patch and rebuild the package as a
test? I think this patch will fix the segfaults:

I'm pretty sure this is right, but if you could test before I do the
upload, that would be wonderful.

I've done a test build and now it first segfaults when I say Ok to
create a  new game.

I therefore created 2 builds one gcc/g++ pointing to version 4.0 and one
pointing to 3.4 - did'nt know whichone to use. Anyway both gave the same
results.

I have attached backtraces for both builds.

gtkmathview relies only on cdbs and on its dpatch support: probably the
problem resides in one of the two. I will look into it.

Oh, it's possible that it's a cdbs problem. Unfortunately, cdbs isn't
really maintained much anymore.

I don't know cdbs at all. Do you think you can investigate?

What? Are you kidding? A lot of packages depend on it, is it really not
maintained? This will be a real problem for many of us ...

Well, I know it only as an user, not as a cdbs developer.
I will try to do my best ..., but I wont have time to work on it until

Well, Colin Walters started it (he left), then Robert Millan was
involved (but he left). But I just looked at the changelog and it
seems Peter Eisentraut has done some uploads in the last few weeks!

Peter, can you please take a look at #356101. A build failure because
of the new make, probably a bug in cdbs.

Package: gnomemeeting
Version: 1.2.3-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The package depends on a version of libopenh323 that is not available in
etch. Therefore it fails to install, and the consequences are pretty
dire: the packages gnome and gnome-desktop-environment fail to install,
too because of dependency on gnomemeeting.

This is the error message:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  gnomemeeting: Depends: libopenh323-1.18.0 (>= 1.17.4) but it is not
installable
E: Broken packages

The library mentioned is not available in unstable, nor can it be found
in experimental.

I tried building from the source, but the sources also depends on
version (this time of libopenh323-dev) that isn't found anywhere.

Hi,

Joerg just cleared openh323 1.17.4 for SID. FTBS now no more due to
uninstallable b-d if anything.

Bug#356123: net-snmp: Outdated/mixed libtool causes miscompillation.

2006-03-09 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: net-snmp
Version: 5.2.2-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package seems to be miscompiled because it's mixing
old (1.4.3) and new (1.5.22) libtool versions. You build
depend on libtool, and run libtoolize, but it warns that
you should update aclocal.m4 manually since it's not auto
generated (by aclocal).

Look for the following line in aclocal.m4:
dnl
dnl Stuff taken from libtool.m4 from the libtool package
dnl

# libtool.m4 - Configure libtool for the host system.
# -*-Shell-script-*-

And replace that until the end of the file with
/usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4

After that, it seems to build without problems.

During the build it shows things like:
libtoolize --force --copy
You should add the contents of `/usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4' to `aclocal.m4'.

Bug#348706: amaya: Something similar on 9.4-1

FWIW:

I grabbed an earlier version,
amaya_9.2.1-6_i386.deb  from a friend's computer /var/cache/apt/archives
(I didn't find it online) and it works on the same system where 9.4-1 doesn't.

It's an m86k-specific glibc bug. I've spent some time investigating
it a two weeks previously, including giving a suggested fix to an m86k
porter. There's not much else I can do myself. It should be a simple
fix, once you work out how all the mathinline macros work, but I lack
the hardware to test myself.

See Bug #340871 for the suggestions
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=340871)

Roger

Bug#342251: cgoban FTBFS on sparc

2006-03-09 Thread Clint Adams
It builds just fine for me on sparc. Therefore I suggest that it is a
timestamp issue that is not arch-specific.

Please do not take any action before reading
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/11/msg00010.html

This bug report is filed against the source package which builds
a library depending on libstdc++6 and defining or referencing
*mt_alloc* symbols. The package has to be rebuilt with either
g++-4.0_4.0.2-4 or g++-3.4_3.4.4-10 (or newer). Please rename the
library package to a name with a "c2a" suffix, and adjust the build
dependencies if dependencies on another renamed library do exist.

Do *not* yet upload the package, but wait for a followup mail to this
bug report.

If this bug report is for some reason invalid, please close it with
a short reasoning.

Bug#354973: Bug #354973: Needs a rebuild

2006-03-09 Thread Roland Mas
Hi,

I initially encountered the bug too. After rebuilding Gnucash against
current libs, it seems to work again. I suspect some library was
upgraded and broke things.

Roland.

Bug#351540: Zeroconf overwrites working IP

2006-03-09 Thread Pelle Nilsson
Hi!

I had the same problem as others have reported here. Zeroconf was
installed automatically and kept overwriting my perfectly healthy
IP-adress received through DHCP with a private IP-adress. I solved the
problem by following a tip to add "FALLBACK=yes" to
/etc/default/zeroconf. Since multiple people have experienced this
problem I really think you should look into this.

/Pelle

The losetup case works. Everything I do on disk works fine, only on DVD
it fails.
I debugged a little and found out that the difference between disk and
DVD is the lib/utils.c:sector_size() return value: for my disc
(dev/hdaX), it is 512, on DVD (/dev/hdc) it is 2048. The sector size is
used in the read_blockwise() function, together with some alignment code
I don't really grok. Perhaps this is where things go wrong?

Sebastià,

whatever pureamd64 is, Debian SID is at libopenh323-1.18.0 (Version
1.17.4) and libpt-1.10.0 (Version 1.9.3) right now. If you're talking
about amd64/pure64, they are maintaing an archive that is mostly in sync
with Debian unstable, but may be lagging back some days. That means you
should check with true Debian SID where the "bug" you reported is
already fixed. You may check yourself for "openh323", "pwlib" and
"gnomemeeting" source packages from any Debian mirror,
packages.debian.org or packages.qa.debian.org.

I've sponsored the package. Thanks for creating it.

In the future, would you please send a note to the bug report
indicating that a sponsorable package that fixes the problem is
available?

Off topic, linda and lintian produce some errors and warnings that you
may want to investigate.

Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 7.0.61-2
Severity: grave

Manual upgrade of the package fails with the "installation failed"
message. This appears to be a bug in the shell script, due to lines
of the form

  mksymlink ... || FAIL="true"

The problem is that "mksymlink" returns -1 if there is already a
symlink in that location. Probably the first line of "mksymlink"
should read

   [ -e $1 ] || return 0

Bug#354214: Wrong permisions.

2006-03-09 Thread Angel Vidal (Kry)
You did obviously run aMule with sudo at some point, as aMule can't do
priviledge escalation to change your files to root ownership.

So this should be closed :)

Bug#348706: amaya: Something similar on 9.4-1

2006-03-09 Thread Anand Kumria
Hmm, in that case it is likely to be the '--with-gl' flag causing this
then as (apart from the version upgrade) that was the only appreciable
build difference.

If you run from the command line what, if any, output do you get?

Could you try this patch in addition to the previous one?

Bug#356153: 4.1 only

2006-03-09 Thread Martin Michlmayr
retitle 356153 FTBFS with G++ 4.1: dereferencing type-punned pointer will break
strict-aliasing rules
thanks

As it turns out, this warning only occurs with GCC 4.1. I'm
downgrading this bug as important for now, but when 4.1 will be the
default compiler in unstable (probably in a few weeks) I'll upgrade it
to serious.

Your packages fails to build in unstable with the error message below.
A number of other packages have similar problems. #344981 says "This
error is usually caused by broken old versions of tcl.m4; the current
tcl packages have fixed versions."
