Bug#736712: apt-listchanges: dpkg-architecture: warning: couldn't type, falling back to default (native compilation)
Package: apt-listchanges Version: 2.85.13 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, when performing an apt-get -u dist-upgrade with apt-listchanges installed, i receive an error from a call to dpkg-architecture. > sh: 1: gcc: not found > dpkg-architecture: warning: couldn't determine gcc system type, > falling back to default (native compilation) GCC is not installed on this system as it is not required. Reading the recent bug reports, this might be related to bug #710745. However, I am currently not able to check the sources via http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/apt-listchanges.git;a=summary . Maybe it would be sufficient to silence dpkg-architecture . I'd also like to know how to get involved on that. I currently see two possibilities: a) address the important, release critical bugs. However, ideally would need someone of the old maintainers/uploaders (added as CC) to sponsor that. b) See if a quick backport will be possible after the release. What do you think? Bug#1002852: shorwall: Couldn't load target `LIBVIRT_PRT':No such file or directory (fixed in version 5.2.3.6+)
Package: shorewall Version: 5.2.3.4-1 Shorewall fails to restart when configured to support DOCKER and running libvirtd at the same time. The issues seems to be that LIBVIRT_PRT is handled as part of the DOCKER integration but should be ignored by shorewall. shorewall operations like stop or restart might fail with iptables-restore v1.8.4 (legacy): Couldn't load target `LIBVIRT_PRT':No such file or directory Applying the upstream patch to filter out "LIBVIRT" in save_docker_rules($) solves this problem. Bug#887490: O: backuppc -- high-performance, enterprise-grade system for backing up PCs
Hi! I've tried to keep some up2date packages in my Github repositories, see https://github.com/backuppc/backuppc/wiki/Build-Your-Own-Packages , specifically * https://github.com/raoulbhatia/rsync-bpc/tree/3.0.9.12-DEBIAN * https://github.com/raoulbhatia/backuppc/tree/DEBIAN * https://github.com/raoulbhatia/backuppc-xs/tree/DEBIAN Would this help to get things back in shape? Especially, I am no Debian expert and also have basic requirements for BackupPC only, so I will not be able to do this properly all by myself. I'm nevertheless very interested in getting the package back in shape and would join a team of people interested in team-maintaining backuppc (and probably libbackuppc-xs-perl, too, see https://bugs.debian.org/887491). So if nobody else shows up soon-ish for joining a potential team, I might start fixing issues doing a QA upload, getting the packaging up to current standards, fixing long-standing trivial issues like e.g. https://bugs.debian.org/488098 and creating a packaging git repository under https://salsa.debian.org/debian i.e. the collab-maint successor on Salsa. (Packaging 4.x.y versions is very likely not included in such a first step.) Bug#653358: redmine: Backport of Wheezy version into squeeze-backports
FYI: I just upgraded a fresh instalation of redmine and redmine-mysql from version 1.1.2-2~bpo60+1 to 1.4.4+dfsg1-1.1 from wheezy. I had to add the following additional packages from wheezy which are currently not available via backports. bundler_1.1.4-6_all.deb ruby-coderay_1.0.6-2_all.deb ruby-fastercsv_1.5.5-1_all.deb ruby-net-ldap_0.3.1-2_all.deb ruby-rack_1.4.1-2_all.deb The installation worked without any problem and redmine seems to work - at least i can open it, click around, change the admin password and view the system information. Bug#687380: Please verify DRBD data corruption bug / patch
Package: linux-image-amd64 Severity: important In their current newsletter, LINBIT states: DRBD 8.4.2 Has been Released For any user of DRBD-8.4, we suggest an upgrade to 8.4.2 as changes to the kernel in version 2.6.36 or newer have caused an issue that may cause data corruption on a Secondary/Sync target when using protocols A or B. (In the 8.3 series this was already fixed with the 8.3.13 release). It is worth noting that all previous DRBD releases did not enforce correct ordering of (some) write operations on a resync-target node. It is a rare condition that could trigger the potential data corruption. It may cause corruption in the sense that it looks like if a single block write was not executed on the secondary. Actually it was overwritten with the previous version of the data. This second write originates from the resync process. Apart from that those nasty bugs, we have also fixed a condition where "disk-barrier no" and "disk-flushes no" were ineffective. This was the reason why some people were reporting "drbd-8.3 is faster than drbd-8.4". Referenced GIT commit: http://git.drbd.org/gitweb.cgi?p=drbd-8.4.git;a=tag;h=refs/tags/drbd-8.4.2 Please verify if this bug(fix) applies to any Debian maintained kernel! This fix was pushed to me in May. But I never picked it up. You'll run into this problem if you are on a kernel which is 3.9+ Like I said in the previous email, once the new upstream release is out, I'll push it. That'll solve most of the problems. Thank you! Bug#435884: ITP: rsyslog -- enhanced multi-threaded syslogd

As programmers we consider it the key to increased complexity and therefore more bugs. I'm quite optimistic we will soon know about the main bugs of rsyslog, because Fedora is using that now as their main syslog server - so we can happily package it now, view what happens on Fedora and use it. (And, BTW, I was next to packaging rsyslog myself, but I decided I'm already involved in far too many tasks, so didn't do it.) i've too worked on packing this software into a debian package. i guess you're better in doing that as it would have been my first .deb ;) anyways, i am willing to test the package and file reports. kind regards, raoul bhatia -- ________ DI (FH) Raoul Bhatia M.Sc.
