Bug#299605: libapache-mod-php4 crashes in __kernel_vsyscall

2005-03-15 Thread raoul bhatia
Package: libapache-mod-php4
Version: 4:4.3.10-9
Severity: critical

apache crashes with the log different entries in
/var/log/apache/error.log:

ssl enabled:
[Sun Mar 13 10:15:52 2005] [notice] child pid 23162 exit signal Segmentation
fault (11)

ssl disabled:
free(): invalid pointer 0x8186fb0!
[Tue Mar 15 10:21:42 2005] [notice] child pid 16078 exit signal Segmentation
fault (11)

i could narrow it down to the software package horde, which cannot be
accessed via web. the corresponding apache child simply segfaults. all
other vhosts run as expected.

in my opintion, this started to occure after upgrading the testing
distrubition and using libapache-mod-php4 from testing.

best regards,
 raoul bhatia

Bug#736712: apt-listchanges: dpkg-architecture: warning: couldn't type, falling back to default (native compilation)

2014-01-26 Thread Raoul Bhatia

Package: apt-listchanges
Version: 2.85.13
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when performing an apt-get -u dist-upgrade with apt-listchanges
installed, i receive an error from a call to dpkg-architecture.

> sh: 1: gcc: not found
> dpkg-architecture: warning: couldn't determine gcc system type,
> falling back to default (native compilation)

GCC is not installed on this system as it is not required.

Reading the recent bug reports, this might be related to bug #710745.

However, I am currently not able to check the sources via
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/apt-listchanges.git;a=summary
.

Maybe it would be sufficient to silence dpkg-architecture .

If this report is better directed against dpkg-dev,
feel free to re-assign.

Cheers,
Raoul

Thanks for the explanation, it sounds like this package should remain in
Debian instead of being removed, good luck with finding a sponsor.

I also find asused a valuable tool for analyzing autonomous systems
other than the ones i have lir-portal-access to.

This happens on an IPv6 only host.

The current workaround is to add "backup.DOMAIN.TLD" to /etc/hosts, e.g.
+ 127.0.1.1 backup.DOMAIN.TLD

I think this problem might be solved with a more recent Bacula version.

Cheers,
Raoul
PS. I'm actually using Ubuntu but as Ubuntu syncs Bacula from the
Debian repository, I'm also filing this bug here.

Filed for Ubuntu as

12:38 < maharaja> hi.
12:38 < maharaja> i have a problem which i cannot figure out with my

12:40 < maharaja> i have a group of several servers which i have,

12:46 < maharaja> do you require any more information from my side or

12:47 < maharaja> cron
12:47 < maharaja> when i open the cgi url

12:47 < Zw> maharaja: there is somekind of bug if you try cgi when
munin-graph is running

noted that problem myself.

temporary fix your issue.

12:50 < maharaja> sounds weird to me

such error messages

13:18 < maharaja> it seems like you know more about munin since i was
unable to find it (and i'm actually only getting started to use munin a
little more than just "apt-get install munin" and let it be)

13:21 < Zw> ok then.

Hi!

Once you include some magic to pull packages from stretch and
experimental,

https://people.debian.org/~taffit/owncloud/ is working great!

Thanks!

Any update on the transition of the dependencies to stretch
and the availability of 8.1.1?

I would be happy to test!

Thanks,

I'd also like to know how to get involved on that.

I currently see two possibilities:

a) address the important, release critical bugs.
However, ideally would need someone of the old maintainers/uploaders
(added as CC) to sponsor that.

b) See if a quick backport will be possible after the release.

What do you think?

I've upgraded to owncloud 8.1.1 from your people repository and did not

However, I am only using a limited set of features, i.e. files,

I have encountered a bug reg. the birthday calendar when using owncloud

Bug#283718: no_proxy variable not honored by apt-transport-https

2014-09-09 Thread Raoul Bhatia
I'm seeing this issue with correctly working no_proxy settings via
/etc/environment and/or /root/.bashrc,
which are correctly working for e.g. w3m but are not honored via
apt-transport-https.

Running Debian Wheezy,
apt 0.9.7.9+deb7u2
apt-transport-https 0.9.7.9+deb7u2
apt-utils 0.9.7.9+deb7u2

I'm using:

# env | grep proxy
http_proxy=http://proxy:8080
ftp_proxy=http://proxy:8181
https_proxy=http://proxy:8080
no_proxy=myserver.domain.tld,

relevant sources.list:

deb https://myserver.domain.tld/debian/ /

"apt-get update -o Debug::Acquire::Https=true"
still shows that APT is trying to use the proxy.

The following configuration via /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/proxy.conf does the
trick:

# Platform Specific Proxy Configuration
Acquire::Http::Proxy "http://proxy:8080";;
Acquire::Https::Proxy "http://proxy:8080";;
Acquire::Ftp::Proxy "http://proxy:8181";;

# DIRECT Access for myserver.domain.tld
Acquire::Https::Proxy::myserver.domain.tld "DIRECT";

Thanks for your bugreport.

[..]

"apt-get update -o Debug::Acquire::Https=true"

Could you please test the attached patch? It seems like the proxy
setting is not properly reset for libcurl.

Not sure if i am testing it right.

I tried to re-build apt-transport-https on my Ubuntu (!) workstation
and applied the patch before "dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us".

I then installed the package,
but the behavior did not change.

Is there any easy possibility to debug this,
e.g. via adding some debug output or using strace/ltrace?

Moreover, upon checking curl.h from libcurl4-gnutls-dev:amd64
7.35.0-1ubuntu2

i see:

/* Comma separated list of hostnames defining no-proxy zones. These
should

match both hostnames directly, and hostnames within a domain. For
example, local.com will match local.com and www.local.com, but NOT
notlocal.com or www.notlocal.com. For compatibility with other
implementations of this, .local.com will be considered to be the
same as

local.com. A single * is the only valid wildcard, and effectively
disables the use of proxy. */
  CINIT(NOPROXY, OBJECTPOINT, 177),

Wouldn't this be easier to simply handover "no_proxy" to curl this way?

Bug#1002852: shorwall: Couldn't load target `LIBVIRT_PRT':No such file or directory (fixed in version 5.2.3.6+)

2021-12-29 Thread Raoul Bhatia

Package: shorewall
Version: 5.2.3.4-1

Shorewall fails to restart when configured to support DOCKER
and running libvirtd at the same time.

The issues seems to be that
LIBVIRT_PRT is handled as part of the DOCKER integration
but should be ignored by shorewall.

shorewall operations like stop or restart might fail with
iptables-restore v1.8.4 (legacy): Couldn't load target `LIBVIRT_PRT':No
such file or directory

Applying the upstream patch to filter out "LIBVIRT" in
save_docker_rules($) solves this problem.

Bug#887490: O: backuppc -- high-performance, enterprise-grade system for backing up PCs

2018-09-03 Thread Raoul Bhatia

Hi!

I've tried to keep some up2date packages in my Github repositories, see
https://github.com/backuppc/backuppc/wiki/Build-Your-Own-Packages ,
specifically

* https://github.com/raoulbhatia/rsync-bpc/tree/3.0.9.12-DEBIAN
* https://github.com/raoulbhatia/backuppc/tree/DEBIAN
* https://github.com/raoulbhatia/backuppc-xs/tree/DEBIAN

Would this help to get things back in shape? Especially, I am no Debian
expert and also have basic requirements for BackupPC only, so I will not
be able to do this properly all by myself.

I agree here and that's why I won't adopt it alone.

I'm nevertheless very interested in getting the package back in shape
and would join a team of people interested in team-maintaining
backuppc (and probably libbackuppc-xs-perl, too, see
https://bugs.debian.org/887491).

So if nobody else shows up soon-ish for joining a potential team, I
might start fixing issues doing a QA upload, getting the packaging up
to current standards, fixing long-standing trivial issues like e.g.
https://bugs.debian.org/488098 and creating a packaging git repository
under https://salsa.debian.org/debian i.e. the collab-maint successor
on Salsa. (Packaging 4.x.y versions is very likely not included in
such a first step.)

JFTR: I'm a BackupPC user and admin for more than 15 years now (in
personal as well as professional surroundings), it's in most cases my
primary backup system, and I'm even brave enough to run one soon-to-be
production instance on Debian Testing. :-)

Bug#698450: linux 3.2.35-2~bpo60+1 reports high DRBD disk utilization

2013-01-18 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: linux-image-amd64
Severity: normal

DRBD in Linux 3.2.x has a bug that makes it report high disk
utilization. A simple patch solves this.

Please see the discussion at
http://lists.linbit.com/pipermail/drbd-user/2012-January/017622.html

It would be nice to include this patch so that monitoring tools
do not go off all the time.

Thank you,
Raoul

Now that's interesting you used this version number... ;) But ok.

I manually constructed this email ;)

Do you really mean qemu or actually qemu-kvm?

qemu-*? ;)

My currently installed packages are qemu-keymaps, qemu-kvm and
qemu-utils.

Would src:qemu have been more appropriate?

is it possible to incorporate the related fix into debian squeeze?

Bug#653358: redmine: Backport of Wheezy version into squeeze-backports

2013-01-09 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
FYI:

I just upgraded a fresh instalation of redmine and redmine-mysql
from version 1.1.2-2~bpo60+1 to 1.4.4+dfsg1-1.1 from wheezy.

I had to add the following additional packages from wheezy
which are currently not available via backports.

bundler_1.1.4-6_all.deb
ruby-coderay_1.0.6-2_all.deb
ruby-fastercsv_1.5.5-1_all.deb
ruby-net-ldap_0.3.1-2_all.deb
ruby-rack_1.4.1-2_all.deb

The installation worked without any problem and redmine
seems to work - at least i can open it, click around, change
the admin password and view the system information.

Cheers,
Raoul

Maybe you could address this issue in the Debian package

Either copy or symlink would work for me.

Bug#682116: linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.2-amd64: NULL pointer dereference related to nfs/cachefilesd

2012-07-19 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.20-1~bpo60+1
Severity: important

I'm seeing an error much like the one reported as bug #682007.

The setup seems quite similar:
1. NFS server exports an nfsv4 share:
   /data/export
192.168.100.0/24(rw,async,wdelay,hide,nocrossmnt,secure,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,no_subtree_check,secure_locks,acl,fsid=1000,anonuid=65534,anongid=65534)
2. the client mounts the share:
   192.168.100.200:/data/export on /data/www type nfs
(rw,nosuid,nodev,nodiratime,relatime,timeo=15,fsc,vers=4,addr=192.168.100.200,clientaddr=192.168.100.109)
3. we use cachefilesd to increase the performance. The cache resides on a
dedicated lvm partition formatted with xfs:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
   /dev/mapper/vg4-nfscache 20G 14G 6.4G 69% /data/nfscache

This is reproducable using "grep -r abc *" inside a directory with
9541 files (no sym- or hardlinks, no block or character special files) in
   1524 directories
(PHP MODX installation)

Bug#682116: Acknowledgement (linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.2-amd64: NULL pointer dereference related to nfs/cachefilesd)

2012-07-20 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
As a short update: I've done some researching and came across
several issues that look quite similar to this problem, e.g.

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.file-systems.cachefs.general/2983
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.file-systems.cachefs.general/3043

Discussions lead to a couple of fixes that are, as far as i've seen,
not part of the mainline yet:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.file-systems.cachefs.general/3003
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.nfs/46874

I've also sent an email to David Howells yesterday but will be on
vacation for the next weeks so will not be able to follow up here as
quickly as normally.

Thanks,
Raoul

Bug#687380: Please verify DRBD data corruption bug / patch

2012-09-12 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]

Package: linux-image-amd64
Severity: important

In their current newsletter, LINBIT states:

DRBD 8.4.2 Has been Released

For any user of DRBD-8.4, we suggest an upgrade to 8.4.2 as changes to the
kernel in version 2.6.36 or newer have caused an issue that may cause data
corruption on a Secondary/Sync target when using protocols A or B. (In the 8.3
series this was already fixed with the 8.3.13 release).

It is worth noting that all previous DRBD releases did not enforce correct
ordering of (some) write operations on a resync-target node. It is a rare
condition that could trigger the potential data corruption. It may cause
corruption in the sense that it looks like if a single block write was not
executed on the secondary. Actually it was overwritten with the previous
version of the data. This second write originates from the resync process.

Apart from that those nasty bugs, we have also fixed a condition where "disk-barrier no" and
"disk-flushes no" were ineffective. This was the reason why some people were reporting
"drbd-8.3 is faster than drbd-8.4".

Referenced GIT commit:
http://git.drbd.org/gitweb.cgi?p=drbd-8.4.git;a=tag;h=refs/tags/drbd-8.4.2

Please verify if this bug(fix) applies to any Debian maintained
kernel!

Thank you,
Raoul

block 653358 by 657813
thanks

Note that this backport depends on the rails 2.3 backport, which is
pending in #657813.

As far as i can see, the backport has been accomplished.

squeeze-backports: 2.3.14-2~bpo60+1 [backports]: all
wheezy (testing): 2.3.14-4: all

Would an update now be possible?

Cheers,
Raoul

Bug#698450: linux 3.2.35-2~bpo60+1 reports high DRBD disk utilization

2013-04-04 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]

This Patch has been included in 3.2.38 [1].

The current kernel in Wheezy and Squeeze-Backports is 3.2.39-2 and
will soon be 3.2.41-2.

Thus, this issue can be marked as done.

Cheers,
Raoul

Once again very sorry for the delay :(

I forgot to disable the DEBUG_INFO and kept filling up my build VMs
disk during compile. Then realized I had grabbed the 3.7 rc code,
which these patches don't apply against. "git checkout
remotes/stable/linux-3.2.y" (results in head
c74a5e1fe4d0672936c8fb63d7484dfeaa30669c and 3.2.28), seemed to fix
that.

Anyways, I just started running that on a machine, so I'll let you
know if I noticed anything there first before I think about pushing it
to further places.

Thanks,
Brian

Got another panic using this kernel/set of patches. The dump is
attached.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hi!

Has there been any progress regarding this issue?

Brian, are you right now using the fsc facility or not?
If yes, which patches / configure options are you currently using
and how often do you see kernel panics?

Are there any workarounds to this issue besides disabling fsc?

Thanks,
Raoul

Hi,

I only noticed your message now via the web interface of the bug tracking
system: you didn't Cc me so I never received the original e-mail.

I'm looking for a new primary maintainer of the smokeping package, so
the adopter should generally be familiar with Debian packaging. These
documents should do as a starting point.

  http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/
  http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/
  http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/

I suppose the only specific requirements for the smokeping package are
Perl knowledge and maybe a basic understanding of usual TCP/IP network
protocols.

Cheers,

It is my bad. This fix was pushed to me in May. But I never picked it
up. You'll run into this problem if you are on a kernel which is 3.9+

Like I said in the previous email, once the new upstream release is out,
I'll push it. That'll solve most of the problems.

Thank you!

I am looking forward to the new release.

Yes that's my reaction also.

System admins might regard multi-threaded as the key to high
performance. As programmers we consider it the key to increased
complexity and therefore more bugs.

I'm quite optimistic we will soon know about the main bugs of rsyslog,
because Fedora is using that now as their main syslog server - so we can
happily package it now, view what happens on Fedora and use it. (And,
BTW, I was next to packaging rsyslog myself, but I decided I'm already
involved in far too many tasks, so didn't do it.)

i've too worked on packing this software into a debian package.
i guess you're better in doing that as it would have been my first
.deb ;)

anyways, i am willing to test the package and file reports.

kind regards,
raoul bhatia

Bug#509134: add security deb-src to vserver build script

2008-12-18 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: util-vserver
Version: 0.30.216~r2772-4~bpo40+2
Severity: wishlist

"vserver build" creates an /etc/apt/sources.list file which is lacking
the "deb-src" entry for security.debian.org.

patch below. i hope that you will include this before pushing the -5/-6
update into into lenny :)

cc to dhozak to also update /trunk/distrib/debian/initpost in the svn
repository.

cheers,
raoul

Bug#528959: mysql-proxy 0.7.0-2 does not remove socket after clean shutdown

2009-05-16 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: mysql-proxy
Version: 0.7.0-2
Severity: important

hi,

i am using mysql-proxy 0.7.0-2 compiled from current debian sid sources.

i want to use it to supply a mysql socket to connect to an internal
mysql server.

the socket does not exist:
> r...@c01n02 ~ # ls -al /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
> ls: cannot access /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock: No such file or directory

starting mysql-proxy and then quitting it with ctrl+c
> r...@c01n02 ~ # /usr/sbin/mysql-proxy
> --proxy-backend-addresses=192.168.100.200:42006
> --proxy-address=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
> 2009-05-16 19:42:25: (critical) chassis.c:968: could not raise RLIMIT_NOFILE
> to 8192, Invalid argument (22). Current limit still 1024.
> ^cr...@c01n02 ~ #

now, i am checking if the socket is still there:
> r...@c01n02 ~ # ls -al /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
> srwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 2009-05-16 19:42 /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

mysql-proxy is not running anymore:
> r...@c01n02 ~ # ps aux|grep -i mysql-proxy
> root 8417 0.0 0.0 5888 828 pts/0S+ 19:50 0:00 grep -i
> mysql-proxy

i try to restart mysql proxy with the same command line and get an
error:
> r...@c01n02 ~ # /usr/sbin/mysql-proxy
> --proxy-backend-addresses=192.168.100.200:42006
> --proxy-address=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
> 2009-05-16 19:46:25: (critical) chassis.c:968: could not raise RLIMIT_NOFILE
> to 8192, Invalid argument (22). Current limit still 1024.
> 2009-05-16 19:46:25: (critical) network-socket.c:504:

Bug#444278: upgrade heartbeat from 2.1.2-1 to 2.1.2-4

2007-09-27 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]

Package: heartbeat
Version: 2.1.2-1

please upgrade to 2.1.2-4 as it fixes some important issues (segfaults,
wrong behaviour).
"unfortunatly" it introduces a new "colocation code" which might cause
"unexpected" behaviour when upgrading from 2.1.2-1.

the announce can be found on
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/linuxha/users/42476
pre-build debian (etch) packages are available via:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/ha-clustering/

maybe it would also be worth-wile to (re-)include the examples in

Bug#544892: /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-control calling the wrong binary

2009-09-03 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: pure-ftpd-common
Version: 1.0.21-11.4
Severity: important

# dpkg -l \*pure-ftp*

> ii pure-ftpd-mysql 1.0.21-11.4 Pure-FTPd FTP server with MySQL user
> authentication

in /etc/logrotate.d/pure-ftpd-common, /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-control
restart is called:

> # /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-control restart
> Can't exec "/etc/init.d/pure-ftpd": No such file or directory at
> /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-control line 31.
> /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-control: failed to execute /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd: No such
> file or directory

the problem is the test routine:in /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-control:27
because it finds a symlink:

> # ls -al /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd*
> lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 2009-06-29 17:28 /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd ->

> -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 11339 2008-11-02 11:04 /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper

is there a possibility to fix this?

Bug#513204: request for testing fix for #513204

2009-09-04 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
any update on this issue? i tried to follow all the different
bugreports regarding this issue, but am kind of list...

anyways, i can verify crashes with the above test scripts and:
* libmysqlclient15off 5.0.51a-24+lenny2
* php5-mysql 5.2.6.dfsg.1-1+lenny3

using "php -n" (which does not load any modules) i am now at 37600
iterations without a crash.

is it possible to re-create patched test-packages for 5.0.51a-24+lenny2?

thanks,
raoul

Bug#542611: inconsistent command not found error if using sudo on a non-existing file

2009-08-20 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: sudo
Version: 1.6.9p17-2 0
Severity: important

sudo is not behaving as expected for non-existing files/commands.

my /etc/sudoers file contains:
> %business ALL=NOPASSWD: /tmp/nonexistent.sh

i login as a user who belongs to group "business"

> root:~# su - k000333 -s /bin/bash

the file does not exist
> k000333:~$ ls -al /tmp/nonexistent.sh
> ls: cannot access /tmp/nonexistent.sh: No such file or directory

i try to execute this file:
> k000333:~$ sudo /tmp/nonexistent.sh
>
> We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
> Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:
>
> #1) Respect the privacy of others.
> #2) Think before you type.
> #3) With great power comes great responsibility.
>
> [sudo] password for k000333:
*hitting ctrl+c*
> sudo: pam_authenticate: Conversation error

i now create this file:
> k000333:~$ cp /bin/bash /tmp/nonexistent.sh
> k000333:~$ ls -al /tmp/nonexistent.sh
> -rwxr-xr-x 1 k000333 k000333 797784 2009-08-20 14:12 /tmp/nonexistent.sh

i try to execute this file via sudo and it works
> k000333:~$ sudo /tmp/nonexistent.sh
> root:/data/k000333# id
> uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)
> root:/data/k000333#

on contrary, if i execute a non-existing file as root, with /etc/sudoers
> rootALL=(ALL) ALL

i execute /tmp/nonexistent.sh

> root@:/etc # sudo /tmp/nonexistent.sh
> sudo: /tmp/nonexistent.sh: command not found

in my opinion, the errors i receive should be identical, regardless of
the user under which i issue the command.

if this behavior is meant to be for protection, i do not see any
benefits as i can simply test if the executable exists by using ls
and/or executing this file without sudo.

cheers,
raoul

ok, i'm sorry - i did not read the man page thoroughly and expected
another behavior.

this perfectly makes sense so please discard this bugreport.

for the records, i let the script (using php-n) run throughout the
whole weekend and it passed at least 15756800 iterations *without* a
problem.

if you want me to test the libmysql patch, could you *please* update
it for the current lenny version?

Bug#471445: mysql-client-5.0: mysqldump + ssl does not work with ssl enabled server

mysqldump cannot connect when using ssl.

mysql filed this bug as #27669 (see http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=27669 )

the bugfix has been pushed into
- Pushed into 5.0.42
- Pushed into 5.1.18-beta

the commit is said to be http://lists.mysql.com/commits/24329 thou i
cannot find that much useful information in this commit message :)

i guess that the commit might be hidden somewhere in
  http://mysql.bkbits.net:8080/mysql-5.0/sql-common/client.c?PAGE=related
but that is only a wild guess

also, searching the bkbits repository did not help that much. i ended up
installing version 5.0.51a-3~bpo40+1 from etch-backports.

raoul

i think this is actually the same issue as described in bug#587565 .

i incorrectly attributed it to shorewall and starting shorewall

hi,

2010-06-29 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: corosync
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: normal

hi,

using debian squeeze with the dependencies enabled boot, i encounter a
problem when corosync is started before shorewall.

in this case, the corosync/pacemaker start fails and the node does
not work. when i issue "killall -9 corosync; /etc/init.d/corosync start"
the node comes online without any issue.

when i add shorewall to the required services for corosync by applying
the following patch, everything works as expected:

Bug#581170: php5 crypt() does not complete with emtpy salt

2010-05-11 Thread Raoul Bhatia [IPAX]
Package: php5-common
Version: 5.3.2-1
Severity: important

php's crypt() function is broken. when supplying false, NULL or an
empty salt, i would expect php to generate its own salt:

> # echo ""|php -q ; echo
>

running php on debian squeeze:

> # php -v -c /etc/php5/cli/php.ini.ucf-dist
> PHP 5.3.2-1 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Mar 13 2010 22:18:25)
> Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group
> Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies
> with Suhosin v0.9.31, Copyright (c) 2007-2010, by SektionEins GmbH

everything is working as expected with the binaries from the dotdeb
mirror:

> $ echo ""|php -q ; echo
> $1$E1bI/Hct$w7nloqFXM2/GmjT5Mawb40
> $ php -v
> PHP 5.3.2-0.dotdeb.2 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Apr 20 2010 22:58:57)
> Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group
> Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies
> with Suhosin v0.9.31, Copyright (c) 2007-2010, by SektionEins GmbH

thanks,
raoul
