Bug#341995: grub-reboot doesn't work

2005-12-04 Thread François Valenduc
Package: grub
Version: 0.97-1

Severity: normal

When I want to select the operating system that will be started upon
next reboot with the command grub-reboot, the choice is not registered.
In fact, I get the following error:

grub> savedefault --once --default=1

Error 27: Unrecognized command

That worked until releases 0.9.5 of grub but not with the last version
(0.97-1)
Thanks for your help,

looked at the script and in the rc and rcS files but I don't have enough
"scripting abilities" to solve this problem by myself.

Bug#397347: tetex-bin: Font problem with the latest dvips

2006-11-06 Thread François Valenduc
Package: tetex-bin

Severity: normal

Since one of the last upgrades of tetex-bin, I get such errors when I convert

dvips: Such scaling will generate extremely poor output.

Altough the difference in font qualities is not too important, I would like to
know if this is normal or if I am missing a package which provides the
requested font.

Bug#437906: libxine1: amarok-xine can't play mp3 files anymore

2007-08-14 Thread François Valenduc
Package: libxine1
Version: 1.1.7-1
Severity: important

Almost everything is explained in the summary. With the latest release libxine
(1.1.7-2), Amarok can't play MP3 file anymore. Restoring the older version
(1.1.7-1) solved the problem. My current version of amarok is 1.4.6-1+b1.

Bug#435863: libxine1-kde: Arts support for xine

2007-08-03 Thread François Valenduc
Package: libxine1-kde
Version: 1.1.6-2
Severity: normal

Since several weeks, each time I run aptitude dist-upgrade, aptitude wants to
remove libxine1-kde because it's no more compatible with the current version of
libxine1. However, it seeems that it's the only package which provides an arts
output plugin for xine and amarok. There is another package (libarts1-xine)
which is supposed to provide this capability but it doesn't seem to be the
case. So, how can we keep arts support for xine ? Do we need to stay with
libxine1-1.1.6 or is there another way ?

Thanks for your help,
François Valenduc

Bug#345939: kernel-package: make-kpkg kernel-headers rebuild the kernel when it's not needed

2006-03-08 Thread François Valenduc
Package: kernel-package
Version: 10.029
Followup-For: Bug #345939

I have found an even more strange behaviour. When the kernel config has
not changed an when no extra patches have been applied, so that the
kernel tree is unchanged since the last compilation (done with make-kpkg
kernel-image), make-kpkg kernel-headers still rebuild the whole kernel.
I can't understand this behaviour. This is a pure time loss !

I encounter this problem with versions 10.029, 10.034 and 10.035. Does
anybody knows if it's possible to solve that problem ?
Thanks in advance

Why not considering kftpgrabber as a very good substitude for Kbear (see
http://kftpgrabber.sourceforge.net/). I use the beta version
(0.70-beta1) since I can't use kbear anymore without any problem. The
debian package provided on the webpage are made for Ubuntu and can't be
directly installed on debian. So I rebuild them, all I had to do was to
change some dependency. The problem is that I am not a programmer and it
might not be a good idea to choose me as responsible for this package in
debian. Furthermore, it's possible that we encounter the same problem
that wih kbear. In fact, there hasn't been new version since almost 1
year. So, before adding kftpgrabber, we should ask the author to see
wheter he is still active ! However, kftpgrabber survived very well to
the transition from KDE 3.3 to 3.4 and finally to 3.5.

It's true that gftp-gtk is also a good replacement but I think
kftpgrabber is better in a KDE/Qt environment.
What do you think of my proposal ?

Thanks for your suggestions and advices.
Franois Valenduc
