Bug#604403: Typo in package description

Package: ibus-table-cangjie5

Hello,

I found a small typos in the package description while translating it via DDTSS.
It says "This package provide one input method: CaneJie5." But I believe there
should be "CangJie5" instead of "CaneJie5"

Bug#680936: package description too historical

2012-08-15 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: fonts-gfs-neohellenic
Followup-For: Bug #680936

Thanks for all the corrections and rewriting. Trying to summarize it
with the last proposed corrections:

modern Greek font family with matching Latin

Neohellenic is a Greek font family characterized by round, even pen
strokes. It consists of several weights (normal, italic, bold, and bold
italic) as well as a Latin version.
..
Former Greek types had harked back to classical models. In 1927, Victor
Scholderer chose instead to revive one which had first appeared in a
1492 printing of Macrobius attributed to Joannes Rubeus. In 1993-4 the
typeface was digitized by the Greek Font Society, with the addition of a
new set of epigraphic symbols.

I added a patch for the control file changing the description according
to this consensus.

-Description: new Greek font family with matching Latin
- The design of new Greek typefaces always followed the growing needs
- of the Classical Studies in the major European Universities.
- Furthermore, by the end of the 19th century bibliology had become an
- established section of Historical Studies, and, as John Bowman
- commented, the prevailing attitude was that Greek types should adhere
- to a lost idealized, yet undefined, greekness of yore. Especially in
- Great Britain this tendency remained unchallenged in the first
- decades of the 20th century, both by Richard Proctor, curator of the
- incunabula section in the British Museum Library and his successor
- Victor Scholderer. In 1927, Scholderer, on behalf of the Society for
- the Promotion of Greek Studies, got involved in choosing and
- consulting the design and production of a Greek type called New
- Hellenic cut by the Lanston Monotype Corporation. He chose the
- revival of a round, and almost monoline type which had first appeared
- in 1492 in the edition of Macrobius, ascribable to the printing shop
- of Giovanni Rosso (Joannes Rubeus) in Venice. New Hellenic was the
- only successful typeface in Great Britain after the introduction of
- Porson Greek well over a century before. The type, since to 1930’s,
- was also well received in Greece, albeit with a different design for
- Ksi and Omega. GFS digitized the typeface (1993-1994) funded by the
- Athens Archeological Society with the addition of a new set of
- epigraphical symbols. Later (2000) more weights were added (italic,
- bold and bold italic) as well as a latin version.

hotswap-gui talks about "GUI front-ends" in the short description (I'd

hotswap mentions "that Depends on both the command line tool and the

"depends" without a capital letter).

Bug#680936: package description too historical

Package: fonts-gfs-neohellenic
Version: 1.1-4
Severity: wishlist

Dear Fonts Task Force,

while translating the package description of fonts-gfs-neohellenic I checked
the descriptions of fonts-gfs-* packages and I think they are too historic.
E.g. the description of fonts-gfs-neohellenic[1] has the most important
information (What does it look like? Which weights?) hidden in a long text.
Consider the following shortened version:

"New Greek font family with matching Latin

New Hellenic is a round, and almost monoline Greek font family. It consists of
several weights (normal, italic, bold and bold italic) as well as a latin
version.
..
It was originally designed 1927 by Victor Scholderer and cut by the Lanston
Monotype Corporation. It is the revival of a type which had first appeared in
1492 in the edition of Macrobius, ascribable to the printing shop of Giovanni
Rosso (Joannes Rubeus) in Venice. The Greek Font Society digitized the typeface
(1993-1994) funded by the Athens Archeological Society with the addition of a
new set of epigraphical symbols."

I wouldn't mind omitting the second paragraph as well.

Regards
Erik

PS: I intend to review the other fonts-gfs-* packages as well, after discussing
this one :)

Hello,

the folders /usr/share/games/blobAndConquer/sound/ and
/usr/share/games/blobAndConquer/music/
are emtpy, but as /usr/share/games/blobAndConquer/data/combatResources/sounds

them :)

Unfortunately I can't find the source package on the upstream website to check
for the

Can't you use the sample files from blobwars? Looking at the page
about missing free samples[1] and the file list of the blobwars-data
package[2] the file names are quite similar, so they should contain
similar sounds.

Hello Samuel, hello Debian Install System Team!

Included is a patch where texlive-lang-finnish/swedish are replaced with a
Build-Depends-Indep on texlive-lang-european as suggested above.
I removed texlive-lang-vietnamese since it moved to texlive-lang-other, which is
already a Build-Depends-Indep of this package.

It was done via the debian/genbuilddeps program as suggested in the comments of
the control file.

Bug#724685: gnubg fails to start because of AVX support

2013-09-26 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: gnubg
Version: 1.02.000-1
Severity: important

Hello Russ!

I only get following error when I try to start gnubg:

does not support AVX"

My CPU:
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+

AFAIK AVX is not supported by the Athlon series at all.

The upstream changelog states that it took the AVX code out of experimental
recently, so it might be an upstream bug.

Let me know if you need additional information,
Erik

PS: It works on a machine with a Athlon II X4 640; Athlon II CPUs support AVX.

Bug#478309: Open and Open folder doesn't in KDE

2012-05-22 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: iceweasel
Version: 12.0-7
Followup-For: Bug #478309

Parts of this issue seem to be fixed:
 - "Open Containing Folder" works (it opens the right folder in dolphin)
 - "Open" works for mp3 and ogv (so probably music and video files)

The remaining problem seems to be that Iceweasel doesn't recognise image files
(I tested SVG, PNG, JPG) as image files, but as content type "file".
A work around is to assign a graphic application to "file" via Iceweasel
preferences, but Iceweasel should be able to recognise image files.

Tested with KDE 4:4.7.4-2, Iceweasel 10.0.4esr-2 and 12.0-7

Bug#671310: Missing space in package description

2012-05-03 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: liblcms-utils
Version: 1.19.dfsg-1
Severity: minor

Hello!

You miss a space in the last sentence of this package description between
"utilities" and "(jpegicc".
While changing the description you could put the last sentence in a new
paragraph, which would help reducing the translation work (overlapping
decsription with liblcms1).

Thanks

Thanks for updating them so fast!

Yes I am aware of the upstream translations, AFAICR they are used
since about v1.8. And you are right, that's how I stumbled upon the
differences. :)

Even though I think it would be nice to have this fixed before the

Hey!

Since sks needs db5.3_upgrade I think it should depend on db5.3-util, and
not on db-util which installs unversioned links like db_upgrade (unused by
sks).
IMHO the bug should be RC as well, since the wheezy->jessie upgrade fails.

Bug#427230: gramps: Same child more than once in a family shouldn't be possible

2007-06-02 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: gramps
Version: 2.2.8-1
Severity: important

You can get the same child twice in a family with the "Adds an existing set of
parents" button. This will result (depending on your behaviour) in
erros or a even a freeze of GRAMPS. You can reproduce it as often as you want,
the steps to get this with a new database are:

Add a new family in the family list with a father, mother and a child. Then
close the family window, choose the child as the active person and go to
the relationships. Press the "Share" button in the toolbar to add an existing
set of parents.
There is just one set of parents (those who are already parents of this child),
but you can still choose them. Add them and nothing seems to change.
But if you go back to the family list and edit the family you can see that the
child is listed twice which is just wrong. You can duplicate the child
in the family as often as you want with the "Share" button.

GRAMPS will behave very different depending what you are going to do now:

1: Close the program without changing anything else: The program will shutdown
properly.

2: Delete a child from the list:

If you delete a child from the list, both of them will be removed from the
list. Closing the "Edit Family" window with saving the changes
leads to following error:

"32007: ERROR: __init__.py: line 1072: Unhandled exception
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/gramps/Editors/_EditFamily.py", line 792, in save

transaction_commit
self.reference_map.delete(str(key),txn=self.txn)
DBNotFoundError: (-30989, 'DB_NOTFOUND: No matching key/data pair found')"

You can still work with the family after this error.

Closing gramps:
If you have done all this in the same session, GRAMPS just freezes when you try
to end it.
If you add the parents to the child, close GRAMPS, start it again and then
remove the child from the family a different error appears:

"111620: ERROR: __init__.py: line 1072: Unhandled exception
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/gramps/ViewManager.py", line 492, in quit

self.env.close()
DBRunRecoveryError: (-30974, 'DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database
recovery -- PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery')"

GRAMPS seems to be closed properly but the python process is still running and
you have to kill it yourself.

Bug#435383: ultrastar-ng: wrong txt-headers can result in a incorrect singing screen

2007-07-31 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: ultrastar-ng
Version: 0.1.4-1
Severity: wishlist

Incorrect singing screens are caused if the txt-header contains a #BACKGROUND
(background image) or a #VIDEO (video file) which isn't available in
the song directory.

If the background image is missing the singing screen shows the last available
background image: If you sing song1 with a correct background image and then
song2 with a wrong BACKGROUND-header, the background image of song1 is showed
in singing screen of song1 and song2.

If the video file is missing and you choose that song (song1) first the singing
screen is shown without the green frame, so just white. If you sing other
songs before song1 the singing screen shows a wrong background image, even if
song1 has a correct BACKGROUND-header and file in the directory.

Since this bug is caused by wrong txt-files and not by the package itself I put
the severity to wishlist. It would be just comfortable if ultrastar-ng
catches the bug to display the singing screen correct even if the files are
incorrect and/or displays a warning about incorrect files.

Bug#435383: ultrastar-ng: short addition

2007-08-02 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: ultrastar-ng
Followup-For: Bug #435383

Thanks for patching this bug that fast and thanks for packaging ultrastar-ng
0.1.4.2.

I just wanted to add a little improvement. If the txt-header contains a
BACKGROUND (which image is in the directory) and a VIDEO (which isn't in the
directory) one can see the green frame and a white background. Wouldn't it be
better if ultrastar-ng would display the correct background image
instead?

Thanks again, Erik

Bug#432596: ultrastar-ng: Pausing a song doesn't stop gaining/losing points

2007-07-10 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: ultrastar-ng
Version: 0.1.4-1
Severity: normal

Hey,

I just found out that pausing a song doesn't stop the counting of the points.
Sing part of a song, press "P" to pause the song and talk in
the microphone: What happens? The song is paused but the points are changing,
you can easily double your points with this "cheat" and I don't think
it should be possible to do win that way ;)

The two m4a files I have work properly.

I hope this helps,

Bug#427386: ultrastar-ng: Ultrastar-ng segfaults with custom width and height

2007-07-05 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: ultrastar-ng
Version: 0.1.4-1
Followup-For: Bug #427386

Hey, I can reproduce this bug when I use a custom height or width higher than
the screen resolutions define in Xorg.conf. My highest screen
resolution is 1280x800 and therefor ultrastar-ng segfaults with ultrastarng -W
1281 -f.
I suppose this bug should reassigned to another package because I found the
same behaviour before for the game stratagis (bug #424974). I don't know
what package is the cause of this bug, but if I can help to find it with any
informations, don't hesitate to ask.

It doesn't segfault neither when switching to fullscreen ingame nor when only
-f flag is given.

There is the gdb trace (with where):

Bug#424974: stratagus: selecting a screen resolution in fullscreen which the system doesn't support leads to a shutdown of the game

2007-05-18 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: stratagus
Version: 2.1-9.1
Severity: normal

Choosing in fullscreen mode a screen resolution your system doesn't support is
leading to a shutdown of the game with the message "Couldn't set
1280x960x0 video mode: No video mode large enough for 1280x960" (or
1600X1200...). Trying to start the game after this shutdown isn't possible, it
just prompts the same message again (after the disclaimer).

Choosing such a screen resolution without being in fullscreen and selecting
fullscreen mode afterwards doesn't cause a shutdown; everything works
properly. But you aren't possible to start the game again if you close it with
this preferences (fullscreen + too large screen resolution).

The only possible way to start the game again is to change the preferences of
the screen resolution or the fullscreen mode manually.

Bug#460570: apt-listbugs: Incorrect comparison of versions

2008-01-13 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: apt-listbugs
Version: 0.0.85
Severity: normal

Hello,

I've just seen an incorrect comparision of versions during my "aptitude
dist-upgrade". As you can see below the package vlc is going to update from
0.8.6.c-4 to 0.8.6.c-4.1~lenny1 but apt-listbugs reports a grave bug, which is
fixed in version 0.8.6.c-4.1. The suffix "~lenny1" shouldn't confuse
apt-listbugs, since it is fixed with that version and the suffix just indicates
it's from the security team.

Thanks, Erik

the new version doesn't implement exactly what I wanted, but it's - for me -
close enough to be happy with it. So closing the bug would be okay :)

Bug#453151: amarok doesn't reload wikipedia informations

Amarok doesn't reaload wikipedia informations when another song is played. You
can make amarok to reload (i.e. clicking on "Lyrics" and then
"Artists" again) but I think amarok should do it automatically as with the
lyrics.

Bug#452486: miro: m4a/m4v is the cause

2007-11-27 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: miro
Version: 1.0-1
Followup-For: Bug #452486

I tried to find out a bit more about this bug since it is very annoying (up to
40 crash reports per start of miro, seems to increase with downloaded
videos).

I found out that miro gives one crash report for each file with the ending
".m4a" or ".m4v". The real file format doesn't matter, just the name. I
tried files with the ending .ogg and .wmv and there were no problems with that.

I hope I could help with that.

Bug#433961: file ultrastar-ng.h2m is out of date

2007-07-20 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: ultrastar-ng
Version: 0.1.4-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

ultrastar-ng.h2m is out of date because you can do more than it's described in
that file (you can use other file than just mp3s).

You can find following sentence (which will be shown in the manpage and at the
description you can look up with "apt-cache show ultrastar-ng) in
ultrastarng.h2m "... and allows you to add your own songs in the forms of mp3s
along with a song text and a music video file."
I'd suggest to change that to something like "... and allows you to add your
own songs in different formats (e.g. mp3, ogg, m4a...) with a songtext
and music video or image files."

Bug#572566: additional suggestion

2010-03-18 Thread Erik Esterer
Hello,

there is something else you could change in the description. The short
description has included "PHP ClamAV" (without dash), while you can
find "PHP-ClamAV" (with dash) in the long description. It's a very
minor mistake, but it doesn't hurt to change it.

Erik

thank you

Bug#601759: Package description is wrong

2010-10-29 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: syslinux-themes-debian
Version: 3-1
Severity: minor

Hey,

the package description says "This package contains on the package with the
graphical bootloader theme for the current Debian stable release."
I believe it should say "depends" instead of "contains". Plus it is a bit
unclear, since the package in Squeeze depends on the theme for the current
testing release. I think the description should be changed to reflect this,
e.g. "This package depends on the package with the graphical bootloader
theme for the appropriate/matching Debian release."
And at last: the first paragraph could match the new description of the package
syslinux.

Regards, Erik

Bug#609706: packages.debian.org: expand search for non-english package descriptions and allow non-english characters

2011-01-11 Thread Erik Esterer
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: wishlist
Tags: l10n

Since there are already ten thousands of translated package descriptions[1], it
would be useful to make them searchable at packages.debian.org.
Additionally the search should allow characters of different languages
(characters with diacrits, chinese characters...).
