Bug#730159: Screen corruption on gnome 3.8 with Intel HD 3000 graphics

2014-05-16 Thread Stefan Nagy
Sorry, I totally forgot that I myself reported this bug against
server-xorg-video-intel in November last year. I reported the same bug
in April against libcogl, in the meantime it turned out that this in
fact is a gnome-shell bug:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=743810

I'm going to merge the two reports. Sorry again.

I only had a look at [1] when looking for the binary package, which only
lists an armhf version of it - even when having amd64 or i386 in the URL.

Bug#748322: blender: FTBFS on non-Linux

2014-05-16 Thread Rebecca N. Palmer

Package: blender
Version: 2.70-2
Tags: patch

blender 2.70 fails to build on kFreeBSD with
/«PKGBUILDDIR»/intern/guardedalloc/intern/mallocn_intern.h:66:4: error:
#error "We don't know how to use malloc_usable_size on your platform"

It appears that this file is checking for Linux ( #if defined(__linux__)
at line 54) when it should be checking for GNU libc ( __GLIBC__,
https://wiki.debian.org/Debian_GNU/kFreeBSD_FAQ?highlight=%28kfreebsd%29#Q._How_do_I_detect_kfreebsd_with_preprocessor_directives_in_a_C_program.3F),
though I have not tested this fix.

Bug#748323: blender: FTBFS on non-x86

2014-05-16 Thread Rebecca N. Palmer

Package: blender
Version: 2.70-2

blender tries to compile
/«PKGBUILDDIR»/intern/cycles/kernel/kernel_sse2.cpp with SSE options,
which is an error on non-x86:

c++: error: unrecognized command line option '-msse'
c++: error: unrecognized command line option '-msse2'
c++: error: unrecognized command line option '-mfpmath=sse'
(full log:
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=blender&arch=armhf&ver=2.70-2&stamp=1399859920

It looks like intern/cycles/SConscript is where it decides whether to do
this, but I haven't tried to turn it off yet.

Bug#725610: pulseaudio-module-bluetooth: Unable to set bluetooth headset on A2DP mode

2014-05-16 Thread Mattia Belluco

Hi all,
I feel like this bug is related to these two I reported:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=743568
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=743569

More specifically to make a bluetooth headset work in A2DP mode I had to
change settings in audio.conf:

SCORouting=PCM

and keep sure Socket stay disabled.

Once you've done that you would still get a "Stream setup failed error"
unless you manually load module-bluetooth-discover with:

$ pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover

If the module was not loaded you'll get a number as exit code and that
being the case your next connection attempt should succeed.

I hope that helps.

Mattia

Installation went well without a single glitch or problem. Was able to
dist-upgrade the machine to Debian unstable with no problems after
the installation.

Debian runs very smooth with the latest kernel 3.14.4-1 despite the
machine just being a PPC G4 with 1.42 GHz and 1 GB of RAM.

Bug#748329: p11-kit fails to build on wheezy with automake < 1.12

2014-05-16 Thread Stefan Bühler
Package: p11-kit
Version: 0.20.2-5

Hi,

p11-kit from jessie fails to build with automake 1.11 from debian
wheezy. (Also this is why I think dh-autoreconf is bad).

You need a manual additional dependency on automake >= 1.12 due to
"serial-tests" (or find a better patch for "enable_locale.diff" and
drop dh-autoreconf):

configure.ac:25: option `serial-tests' not recognized

Also someone could tell upstream to change the line to:

AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE([1.12 foreign serial-tests])

because it certainly won't work with automake 1.10.

Stefan

I've never considered trying to get this module included into
the Perl core distribution (and I also wouldn't know how to
get started with something like that;-) Unfortunately, I also
don't see any way to do things without XS since the flock
structure that must be passed to fcntl(2) can be quite dif-
ferent on different systems, both concerning the number and
ordering of its members as well as the sizes of them:-( I
would love to hear ideas on how to do it differently, i.e.
with Perl-only methods!

As far as I can see I can't contribute anything useful here,
sorry. If someone has some pointers on how to go about getting
it into the Perl core distribution I would try that, though I'd
rather likely need a lot of very good arguments to convince peo-
ple deciding about such things - some of you might be in a better
situation for that. But they might argue that you already can get
fcntl(2) used for locking instead of flock(2) by building Perl with
"-Ud_flock" (don't ask me why that's not the default anyway;-)
Perhaps building the Perl version distributed with Debian with
that option might be another solution?

Best regards, Jens

Sadly it winds up being significantly more people than I'd like because
the maintainer script code for handling /etc/default/grub has lots of
terrible stuff in it for historical reasons. And of course editing
/etc/default/grub to add some kernel arguments is very common, even
among people who don't really know what they're doing thanks to various
web guides (the number of bugs I've seen that were due to Unicode quotes
in /etc/default/grub thanks to copying and pasting from web pages would
probably startle you).

Ian: it doesn't have to be fixed in upstream right now, no, but it'd
be nice to have those tests removed (or fixed?) upstream as well so we
don't end up carrying this patch in Debian forever.

As this is a debug message anyway, it would be sensible for the extable
handler to print %pS of the left hand address. It would avoid needing
to refer back to xen-syms in cases like this.

Bug#748340: git-import-dsc: manpage should mention the repo creation if not found

2014-05-16 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.6.13
Severity: minor

Hello,
as an experiment I tried to run git-import-dsc without any git repo available in
the CWD and automagically one was created :) with the same name of the source
package.

I didn't find any mention of it in the manpage and I think it would be helpful
to know.

Thanks for considering,
Sandro

Bug#748333: Parameter missing from declaration to cause undefined behaviour

2014-05-16 Thread Adrien Destugues
The bug has been fixed in http://pulkomandy.tk/projects/GrafX2/changeset/2072/
and will be part of our next release. Thanks!

Any chance of getting GrafX2 2.4 in debian soon? it's been released for some
time now but Debian never packaged it...

> (XEN) Enabled directed EOI with ioapic_ack_old on!

The last one certainly isn't, and the first two shouldn't (albeit the
non-Xen kernel is running in x2APIC mode). That difference is likely
because the Xen and non-Xen boots are with differing BIOS
configurations, or on different machines: The non-Xen boot shows
a DMAR ACPI table, while the Xen one doesn't. Or wait, no, the
hypervisor and kernel-under-Xen logs differ in that respect too. We
clearly need a consistent set of logs.

The one clearly odd thing in the hypervisor logs are these two lines

(XEN) traps.c:3061: GPF (): 82c4c0186a91 -> 82c4c0218daa
(XEN) traps.c:3061: GPF (): 82c4c0186a91 -> 82c4c0218daa

Can at least the left side address please be associated back with a
symbol (with the help of xen-syms perhaps)?

And finally, looking at the IRQ usage, this

[2.087722] xen: registering gsi 22 triggering 0 polarity 1
[2.087731] xen: --> pirq=22 -> irq=22 (gsi=22)
[2.100161] xen: registering gsi 20 triggering 0 polarity 1
[2.100166] xen: --> pirq=20 -> irq=20 (gsi=20)

happens rather early - it's not clear to me in which context that is.
And there's no problem with GSI 22 used by the other EHCI HC, so
a fundamental question is what other device(s) is/are using GSI 20
(not visible from the non-Xen kernel log).

Bug#748341: SIGPIPE handling in atfork()

2014-05-16 Thread Marcello Blancasio
Package: libnss-ldap
Version: 264-2.5

If a process calls fork() and SIGPIPE was blocked, the atfork()
handler in the child process failed to catch the SIGPIPE during the
call to do_close_no_unbind(). So that, the SIGPIPE will be eventually
delivered when the child unblocks signals (and usually this makes
child process die).

I found someone fixed it patching to unblock the signal before calling
do_close_no_unbind() and restore the original sigmask afterwards:

Bug#748342: iceweasel: please keep sandbox code for EME/CDM DRM plugins out of Iceweasel builds

2014-05-16 Thread Martin Steigerwald
Package: iceweasel
Version: 29.0.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Mozilla unfortunately chose to support external DRM plugins by an opensource
sandbox for EME/CDM plugins[1][2].

Please keep this open source sandbox code out of Iceweasel builds once it
becomes available. As for reasons to do so please see [2][3].

Feel free to close the bug report with a statement of your intent to do so.

If its not possible to remove the code easily, please at least disable it.

Thank you very much,
Martin

Bug#748343: erlang-cowboy installs to /usr/lib/erlang/lib

2014-05-16 Thread Simon MacMullen

Package: erlang-cowboy
Version: 0.8.6+dfsg1-1
X-Debbugs-CC: packag...@rabbitmq.com

The package "erlang-cowboy" installs a specific version of Cowboy
(currently 0.8.6) into the system-wide OTP directory.

This means that any Erlang application gets that version of Cowboy in
preference to any other it might have installed, probably breaking it.
RabbitMQ's web stomp plugin is an example of such an application.

This is a bad idea for any Erlang library, and it's a particularly bad
idea for Cowboy as it has a rather fast-moving API.

Cheers, Simon

Bug#682369: iceweasel: Tough cookie

Because this bug can cause retention of data which the user

5. reboot.

I have not re-tested this procedure, but it is supposed to break the deadlock:
Step 4 disables the non-systemd way of automounting NFS.
The provided patch in #746587 is much cleaner, but harder to apply
from the recovery console.

Yeah, I know... I noticed the moment I sent the mail.
I've already sent the same mail to the submitter as well, using the
address he reported the bug with, so to avoid a double message in the
BR.

But thanks for heads up!

Mozilla Foundation is about to introduce a new way to load proprietary and
potentially unsafe code within the browser.

To me thats a bug.

Thats why I open one with upstream as well[1].

Well, I will reopen this bug or open a new one should this code arrives within
Firefox.

And I will close it again then. Until you have something to say about an
iceweasel package that is in the Debian archive, please don't file a
bug. There are enough real bugs to deal with already.

Package: python-blist

Dear Maintainer,

python-blist's debian source package does not seem to support python3.
Unlike many python source packages, python-blist does not provide a
python3-blist binary package, which I believe is the culprit. The

How do you come to the conclusion that these are *new* ways to load
proprietary and potentially unsafe code within the browser? As far as I can
think back these have been there.

And how do these long existing ways to do that justify adding a new way to do
it – instead of getting rid of the old ways as soon as possible.

Aside from that Adobe Flash and Sun Java may at least be used for something
non DRM related as well while EME / CDM is specifically targetted at DRM and
thus closed code which my even be protected by laws which make put the work of
security researchers at risk. Read the second link in my bug post.

Bug#748347: r-cran-deldir: New upstream release available

Package: r-cran-deldir
Version: 0.0-22-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello Andreas et al. This package is more current here:

deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/marutter/c2d4u/ubuntu trusty main

but I would prefer to take the source from Debian (I need it for a
small local repository of R packages backported to wheezy).

Thanks.

I'm trying to install qtile, and still face this problem. I built my

The blockchain uses leveldb but the wallet still uses bdb. I remember some
talk about switching but nothing happened yet.

Care to elaborate how existing ways to include proprietary code within a
system justify CDM/EME?

Added to that: I am definately interested in hardware free of proprietary
firmware. But unlike hardware needing firmware, HTML5 DRM is avoidable. Easily.

Thanks for reminder.

Actually, I already updated my local repo to use this one.

Since upstrean moved tp python3, I was going to use it.

In order to do that, I need to drop ibus-python package and use
python-gi interface (otherwise this packaging is too complicated.)

This new package solves vala problem causing
  #746136 [S| | ] [src:ibus] ibus: FTBFS

So be paitient. This is not simple update of upstream source. I need
to test this a bit more. Your help is most appreciated.

Bug#748349: cheese fails to save photos (tries to write to root directory)

2014-05-16 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
Package: cheese
Version: 3.12.1-1
Severity: important

I tried taking a webcam photo with cheese. After taking the photo,
the video window turns black and shows the message:

There was an error playing video from the webcam

On stderr, it shows:

(cheese:1519): cheese-WARNING **: Error while writing to file
"/2014-05-16-061252.jpg".: gstmultifilesink.c(653): gst_multi_file_sink_render
(): /GstCameraBin:camerabin/GstMultiFileSink:imagebin-filesink:
Permission denied

It looks like the program is trying to write to the root directory. I
don't see a way in the GUI preferences to get it to write elsewhere.

#575605 suggests that cheese might be pulling info about where to save
from xdg-user-dirs, which i didn't have installed originally.

I tried installing xdg-user-dirs, but that doesn't seem to have
improved matters -- cheese still appears to be trying to save to the
root directory.

I tried supplying the environment variable directly with:

XDG_PICTURES_DIR=/home/dkg/Pictures cheese

but that still leaves things in the same situation.

and i have nothing set in gconf either (i know that's supposed to be
deprecated):

0 dkg@alice:~$ gconftool-2 --get /apps/cheese/photo_path
No value set for `/apps/cheese/photo_path'
0 dkg@alice:~$

However, using dconf-editor, i was able to set /org/gnome/cheese/photo-path

once i set that, i was able to save photos.

I note in dconf-editor that the description of this configuration
setting is:

Defines the path where the photos are stored. If empty,
   "XDG_PHOTO/Webcam" will be used.

normal users won't be able to do any of these steps.

If XDG_PHOTO (whatever that is) isn't set up properly, maybe there's a
better explicit fallback than the root directory of the filesystem,
which is pretty much guaranteed to not be writable to the user?

Or maybe cheese needs to explicitly depend on more packages to get
sane defaults? Or both?

Thanks for maintaining cheese in debian,

 --dkg

Bug#739117: gpxviewer in Debian

2014-05-16 Thread Ross Gammon

Hi Andrew,

I am copying in the bug report so that the status is recorded there if
anyone else is investigating the status of gpxviewer (sorry if you get
the email twice).

I am glad to hear that you are slowly getting there with the new "gir"
bindings.

And thanks very much for your work on fixing the osm-gps-map bug about
the tiles not displaying. I prepared a package for this latest version
containing that fix, and I can see that just now Andreas has sponsored
its upload!

Keep up the good work.

Ross

On 05/04/2014 09:12 PM, Andrew Gee wrote:

Hi Ross,

Thanks for getting in touch.

I'm currently trying to work on getting gpxviewer back and working in my
spare time. Currently it does not work with the latest version of
osmgpsmap, due to the use of Gtk 3 introspection. I am currently
updating gpxviewer to work this way.

Having a few problems, but getting there. I think I may have found a bug
with the python bindings or osmgpsmap itself to do with colours of the
tracks not being recognised, but I'm going to check this again.

Also, osmgpsmap has a new upstream version that fixes a bug where
openstreetmap tiles are not being displayed. It could do with an update
to 1.0.2.

Thanks,
Andrew

On 03/05/14 19:31, Ross Gammon wrote:

Hi Andrew,

I see that gpxviewer has been auto-removed from Debian Testing due to a
dependency on the old version of osmgpsmap:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=739117

It would be a shame if gpxviewer was not a part of the next Debian release.

You have not responded to this bug, but I can see on launchpad that you
have committed to the osm-gps-map project quite recently in response to
another bug. Therefore I thought I would email you directly to ask if
you know whether gpxviewer actually works with either 0.7.3 or 1.0.1 of
osmgpsmap?

This would then be a simple fix for gpxviewer of replacing the
dependency of python-osmgpsmap with gir1.2-osmgpsmap-1.0.

Unfortunately, when I tried to test this myself, I suffered this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gpxviewer/+bug/1280845

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Bug#731953: [Pkg-bitcoin-devel] Bug#731953: bitcoin: Package is allowed to build with too-new libdb, resulting in non-portability of wallets

2014-05-16 Thread Micha Bailey
What happened with 0.8 was this: rather than keeping an index of every
transaction, with its position in each block, etc, in BDB, a LevelDB is
created, and it's used to maintain what's called the UTXO set, short for
Unspent Transaction Output set. Basically, this contains all unspent
transaction outputs, with the information needed to redeem them, making it
much more efficient to look up UTXOs, rather than having to look up the
position of the transaction within the blockchain and seek them out.
However, BDB is still used for the wallet, which is where compatibility is
an issue.

Wheezy repository and works perfectly before the security update. If is
not a security problem with gstreamer and Iceweasel, why disable the
option? Stable branch was harm by delete package in testing branch?
Alternatives to gstreamer support are privative flash and buggys gnash
and lightspark.
Icedove 24.5 has gstreamer support...

Thanks for you time, goobye.

Bug#748169: boinc

2014-05-16 Thread Gianfranco Costamagna
Boinc 7.2 doesn't build with wx3.0.

This is a known problem, and it has been already fixed in 7.4 releases.
I'll be really happy to upload the new release as soon as 738849 [1] is fixed,
since the new release uses webview and doesn't build with the current package.

Sorry, Sebastian, but I don't understand what is the problem here.
Like many other presumably NMU-safe packages, tupi/any Depends on
tupi-data/all (= ${source:Version}). What can I possibly fix here?

Now after binNMU tupi somehow Depends on "tupi-data (= 0.2+git04-1+b1)".
How could this happen?

I understand this would be the case for arch-any package depending on
"arch-all (= ${Source-Version})" but there is a lintian warning for this so I
would hardly miss it and it is not the case anyway.

Please advise.

Thanks and sorry for delay. I've noticed the problem even before this bug was
filed and contacted upstream who recently explained [1] that he is working on
new release which will fix this problem.

Thank you for your feedback. If time allows I might do exactly as you
recommend but in the meantime I tend to wait until next upstream release to
see if it fix the problem.

A, you are refering to "self"-conflicts…
Your previous example suggested you where referring to A conflicts B,
with A != B (A=libc6:sparc & B=libc6-i386 in the mentioned bugreport).

The A == B case is indeed currently unsupported/ignored as they are
treated as 'normal' self-conflicts and are hence ignored as specified
by policy as §7.4 explicitly says:
| A special exception is made for packages which declare a conflict with
| their own package name, or with a virtual package which they provide
| (see below): this does not prevent their installation, and allows a
| package to conflict with others providing a replacement for it.

Policy isn't all that talkative about M-A however, so that might just be
me reading way too much into an 'old' sentence of the policy, but I tend
to be nervous when it comes to breaking the policy…

I guess best way forward is to get an opinion from dpkg maintainers
(cc'ed) and reword this sentence one way or the other in policy.

The change to make this (not) work in apt is trivial (future me:
DepIterator::IsIgnorable), but it is usually a bad idea to disagree
with dpkg (and policy) on such things.

Best regards

David Kalnischkies

That won't work:
tupi is currently part of the libav10 transition and the outdated binaries
on non-Linux archs prevent it's migration to testing. Unless the upstream
release
is coming really soon tupi will either need to be removed from testing
or the libav10 patch needs to be applied in a testing-specific upload on
top of the current version in testing.

Cheers,
Moritz

Since it seems to be caused only by the tiny version number difference

for it: artificially bump the version number to
1:0.124.1+20140122git5013bed0-3, changing nothing else, upload and let
the buildd do the job, producing binaries linked with db5.3 for all
architectures.

Can Debian Multimedia Maintainers do that, or should I (src)NMU it?

Will do in a second.

tupi-data (= ${source:Version}) in tupi's Depends is not the problem
here. This is fine. The problem is that tupi-data (= ${binary:Version})
appears in tupi's ${misc:Depends}.

When built for an usual upload, ${misc:Depends} looks like

$ head -1 debian/tupi.substvars
misc:Depends=tupi-data (= 0.2+git04-1)

which is okay, but if binNMUed it becomes

$ head -1 debian/tupi.substvars
misc:Depends=tupi-data (= 0.2+git04-1+b1)

which is wrong.

This is due to the dh_installdocs override. Note that if you remove the
override, you need to handle symlink to directory conversions.

Bug#748347: r-cran-deldir: New upstream release available

Hi Santiago,

thanks for your bug report. I really appreciate hints like this. I
would also welcome if those people creating PPAs would rather file
a bug report (or commit right to SVN and ping me for an upload).

Santiago, it would help me adjusting my idea about maintaining R
packages if you could have a look at

   https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=617296#96

Besides the fact that the hint from Dirk is not really the style I like
it I'm interested to learn whether users (like you obviously) might have
some suggestion to enhance the situation. I think this should be
discussed at these two lists:

   Debian Science Team
   Debian Med Packaging Team

or any other place you consider apropriate.

Kind regards

Andreas.

That makes sense, thanks for explaining.

Perhaps this suggested change could be queued up to be applied when the

I understand that tupi might be removed from "testing" (perhaps it's not the
worst thing I can imagine) but it's the matter of prioritising... If/when time
allows I will follow your advise precisely unless upstream release new version

Bug#748353: g++-mingw-w64: GCC runtime DLL dependency introduced even with -static-libgcc -static-libstdc++

2014-05-16 Thread Tim Van Holder
Package: g++-mingw-w64
Version: 4.9.0-2+13
Severity: important

Until relatively recently, cross-building a C++ application with "-static-
libgcc -static-libstdc++" resulted in an executable that only referenced
standard system DLLs (kernel32.dll and msvcrt.dll) plus whatever DLLs you
explicitly linked with.

However, this is no longer the case - executables now complain that
"libwinpthread-1.dll" is not found (and I did not request a link to it).
Only -static makes that go away, but that means that EVERYTHING gets linked
statically (if available), which is not ideal.

Looking in -dumpspecs output, there's a -no-pthread option to prevent linking
with -lpthread -- but that doesn't work, because linking fails:

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-w64-mingw32/4.9/libstdc++.a(eh_alloc.o):(.text$__cxa_allocate_exception+0xd0):
undefined reference to `pthread_mutex_lock'
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-w64-mingw32/4.9/libstdc++.a(eh_alloc.o):(.text$__cxa_allocate_exception+0x144):
undefined reference to `pthread_mutex_unlock'
/usr/bin/x86_64-w64-mingw32-ld:
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-w64-mingw32/4.9/libstdc++.a(eh_alloc.o): bad reloc address
0x144 in section `.text$__cxa_allocate_exception'

I guess I'd expect GCC to consider libwinpthread to be part of libstdc++ and
therefore also apply -static-libstdc++ to it (or, adding a -static-thread-
library option specifically for whatever thread library it links with).

This is probably an upstream issue, but it could also just be a matter of
configuring gcc/libstdc++ to use win32 threads instead of pthread (although I
think that would then remove std::thread support - not an issue for me, but it
could be for others).

Bug#748354: keyutils: key timeout have reset after udev starts

2014-05-16 Thread Dmitriy Matrosov
Package: keyutils
Version: 1.5.6-1
Severity: normal
Tags: security

Hi.

Key timeout set in initramfs had reset after udev init script run.

How to reproduce:
1. Add key and set timeout on it in initramfs. E.g. use an encrypted root and
open it using decrypt_keyctl script from cryptsetup package (to cache
password). The crypttab entry may look like:

jessie_root /dev/reiji/enc_jessie_root reiji
luks,keyscript=decrypt_keyctl

The decrypt_keyctl script sets timeout of 60 seconds on all cached passwords.
2. Add init script (below), which runs before udev and waits for 60 seconds to
ensure, that timeout still works. It may have LSB header like:

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides: keyctl-test
# Required-Start:mountkernfs
# Required-Stop:
# X-Interactive: false
# X-Start-Before:udev
# X-Stop-After: udev
# Default-Start: S
# Default-Stop: 0 6
# Short-Description: Wait for keyctl timeout to expire
# Description:
### END INIT INFO

and restart the system. You'll see line

key inaccessible (key has expired)

when keyctl-test script runs `keyctl show @u` after waiting for 60 seconds.
4. Now change LSB header, so keyctl-test starts right after udev. It may look
like:

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides: keyctl-test
# Required-Start:udev
# Required-Stop: udev
# X-Interactive: false
# X-Start-Before:keyboard-setup mdadm-raid mountdevsubfs
# X-Stop-After:
# Default-Start: S
# Default-Stop: 0 6
# Short-Description: Wait for keyctl timeout to expire
# Description:
### END INIT INFO

and also restart the system. Now after waiting for 60 seconds `keyctl show @u`
will still list the key added during root fs unlocking from initramfs.

The keyctl-test init script may look like:

do_start()
{
echo "Waiting for keyctl timeout to expire.." >&2
sleep 60
echo "..done" >&2
keyctl show @u
}

case "$1" in
start)
do_start
;;
stop|restart|reload|force-reload|force-start)
echo "."
;;
*)
echo "Usage: {start|stop|restart|reload|force-reload|force-start}"
exit 1
;;
esac

To workaround this i may use simple script for clearing keyring, which runs,
when all volumes requiring password have opened. I may run it using 'check='
option in crypttab. E.g. the last crypttab line, which uses cached password,
may look like:

w7 /dev/sdb2 reiji luks,keyscript=decrypt_keyctl,check=keyctl_clear

and keyctl_clear script should be placed in /lib/cryptsetup/checks/ and may
look like:

#!/bin/sh

keyctl clear @u || exit 0

Bug#748355: Upgrading from sysvinit/wheezy to systemd-sysv/sid impossible due to loop

2014-05-16 Thread David Kalnischkies
Package: systemd-sysv
Version: 204-10
Severity: serious
Justification: triggers a debian-policy defined dpkg error (§7.4)
X-Debbugs-CC: pkg-sysvinit-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org

Hi *,

I got a report (now…) that apt segfaults in a wheezy → sid upgrade.
Debugging this leads to the following universe (hugely simplified):

Package: sysvinit
Version: 1
Essential: yes

Package: sysvinit
Version: 2
Pre-Depends: sysvinit-core | systemd-sysv
Essential: yes

Package: sysvinit-core
Version: 2

Package: systemd-sysv
Version: 2
Conflicts: sysvinit (<< 2)
Breaks: sysvinit-core

If we have sysvinit v1 installed and want to install systemd-sysv now
we not only run into the previously mentioned segfault, but, if the
segfault would not appear and dpkg actually executed we get:
| Selecting previously unselected package systemd-sysv.
| dpkg: considering deconfiguration of sysvinit, which would be broken by
installation of systemd-sysv ...
| dpkg: no, sysvinit is essential, will not deconfigure
| it in order to enable installation of systemd-sysv
| dpkg: error processing archive
/tmp/tmp.W9nkJhRQvg/aptarchive/pool/systemd-sysv_2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
| installing systemd-sysv would break existing software
| Errors were encountered while processing:
| /tmp/tmp.W9nkJhRQvg/aptarchive/pool/systemd-sysv_2_amd64.deb
| E: Sub-process fakeroot returned an error code (1)

The reason is "simple":
Unpacking systemd-sysv is not possible before we have gotten right of
sysvinit 1. The normal solution is to just upgrade it to version 2, but
this requires us to first unpack systemd-sysv -> loop.
The other solution is to temporary remove sysvinit 1 and reinstall it
later on. Such a practice isn't allowed for essential packages.
Debian policy §7.4 even explicitly defines that dpkg should error out if
it is attempt, which is what you get at the moment (minus a segfault).
Note that Breaks will not work either (same message).

I see two probably good-enough solutions:
1. Downgrade Pre-Depends in sysvinit to a Depends
Technical it isn't entirely correct as it would be allowed to have
an unpacked sysvinit then, but not a working init system. In theory I
assume this window of opportunity to be very small as APT treats Depends
of a (pseudo-)essential package if at all possible as Pre-Depends and
also tries to configure them as soon as possible. In practice it should
mean that they are unpacked in the same dpkg call, so if you can write
your maintainerscripts without requiring runlevel, shutdown and co this
should work out.
2. Remove Conflicts: sysvinit (<< 2) from systemd-sysv
It is only for the file replacement, right? (In which case Breaks would
have equally (not) worked). dpkg is happy as long as it has Replaces, so
we talk mostly about partial upgrades and downgrades here and while I
tried to come up with a good scenario in which something would break,
I failed to find one given that both seem to work with the binaries of
the other at least somehow.
(This 2nd solution is btw deployed in sysvinit-core, so just in case
someone requests adding a Conflicts/Breaks here: be careful)

I guess 'solution' 2 is preferable, so I report against systemd, but
have CC'ed sysvinit maintainers. Feel free to disagree and reassign
and/or invent another (better) solution.

Best regards

David Kalnischkies

P.S.: Full-disclosure bla bla: At the moment a third solution would be
for apt to temporary install sysvinit-core, to be able to install the
new version of sysvinit, so that it in turn can remove sysvinit-core
again and replace it with systemd-sysv. Yes, that would be insane and
is not even close to be supportable as a scenario by apt …

It worked with Xen 4.1? That's useful info. A set of logs with the same
kernel as your previous logs might be useful. It would probably be best
to post them in the subthread which is CCd to xen-devel rather than have
me secretary them over.

Bug#748052: [Xen-devel] dom0 USB failing with "ehci-pci: probe of 0000:00:1d.0 failed with error -110"

Doesn't Xen hide the DMAR from dom0 on purpose? I think it renames it to
XMAR IIRC.

Or wait, no, the
hypervisor and kernel-under-Xen logs differ in that respect too. We
clearly need a consistent set of logs.

The one clearly odd thing in the hypervisor logs are these two lines

(XEN) traps.c:3061: GPF (): 82c4c0186a91 -> 82c4c0218daa
(XEN) traps.c:3061: GPF (): 82c4c0186a91 -> 82c4c0218daa

Can at least the left side address please be associated back with a
symbol (with the help of xen-syms perhaps)?

And finally, looking at the IRQ usage, this

[2.087722] xen: registering gsi 22 triggering 0 polarity 1
[2.087731] xen: --> pirq=22 -> irq=22 (gsi=22)
[2.100161] xen: registering gsi 20 triggering 0 polarity 1
[2.100166] xen: --> pirq=20 -> irq=20 (gsi=20)

happens rather early - it's not clear to me in which context that is.
And there's no problem with GSI 22 used by the other EHCI HC, so
a fundamental question is what other device(s) is/are using GSI 20
(not visible from the non-Xen kernel log).

Bug#748364: python-dput: Leaking file descriptors by not propperly closing the *.upload tempfile

Package: python-dput

Attached file also does some related cleanup of the logging subsystem
to make it possible for third party applications using python-dput to
manage the logging themselves.

Note that library users still TRACE level stderr logging by default,

Bug#748365: util-linux: missing ppc64le condition cause problem when install powerpc-utils

2014-05-16 Thread Paulo Flabiano Smorigo
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.20.1-5.6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Now that we have a new arch called ppc64el, we need to add it to the
condition in debian/rules in order to avoid conflict with powerpc-utils.

Currently without this patch if we install powerpc-utils in a ppc64el
system, this will happens:

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  powerpc-utils
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1492 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B/33.8 kB of archives.
After this operation, 121 kB of additional disk space will be used.
(Reading database ... 321350 files and directories currently
  installed.)
  Preparing to unpack .../powerpc-utils_1.1.3-24_ppc64el.deb ...
  Unpacking powerpc-utils (1.1.3-24) ...
  dpkg: error processing archive
  /var/cache/apt/archives/powerpc-utils_1.1.3-24_ppc64el.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man8/clock.8.gz', which is also
   in package util-linux 2.20.1-5.

The attached patch solve the issue.
