Bug#631421: git-man: apply.ignorewhitespace should be apply.ignore-whitespace

Starting "git gui" and choosing a chunk to commit gave an error:
"fatal: unrecognized whitespace ignore option 'yes'".

The keyword with dash was accepted, and "git apply" had it this way, too.

So, which is correct now?

Thank you!

Thanks Modestas for finding the reason. I started a long time ago
fixing VTK to remove the culprit call to EXPORT_LIBRARY_DEPENDENCIES,
but had to give up.
I could not get it apply upstream, maybe we can resurect this patch in
debian/VTK:

Bug#631470: debhelper: Add --help-sequence to display all commands in a sequences dh(1) runs

2011-06-24 Thread Jari Aalto
Package: debhelper
Version: 8.1.6
Severity: wishlist

Manual page reads:

  INTERNALS

Each time dh is run, it examines the log, and finds the last
logged command that is in the specified sequence. It then
continues with the next command in the sequence. The --until,
--before, --after, and --remaining options can override this
   behavior.

SUGGESTION

The list of commads to run is not mentioned in dh(1) manual page, so
it's quite difficult to know how these options would be used. Perhaps
the program could offer:

"See option --help-sequence to see list commands run".

Bug#630906: git-annex completion gone missing

Just to let you know this didn't fall through the cracks...

The 4.3.12 release of zsh includes a (more or less) rewrite of _git (the
completion function for git). I guess the guy who did it wasn't aware of
git-annex and therefore didn't re-add support for it.

I'm not sure what the plan is with respect to adding third-party
addons. I guess just adding the old code again would be a feasible
solution (and we can certainly do that with the debian package for the
time being), but for the long run I'd like to discuss this upstream.

Out of curiosity, is there a git-annex completion for bash? And if so,
how does the bash crowd handle such third-party addons?

Agreed. Moreover, the --help output indicates the version in Debian
hasn't got support for POSIX ACLs compiled in, so it's a choice
between:

Moreover, it provides standard management of file ownership and

Or homogenise it to:

Or keep it as:

No, it would not. Indicating in user-facing documentation that it is
recommended to use OpenSSL is not equivalent to granting distributors
permission to distribute binaries linked with OpenSSL as part of an OS.

However, in reading the bug log my understanding is the upstream author's
position is that the GPL does not require dynamically-linked libraries to be
distributed under the same license terms. I don't believe this is an
accurate interpretation of the GPL as written, but if Jean-Yves is the sole
copyright holder of the work, then this is a clarification of the intended
license, which I believe is sufficient for Debian's purposes. If there are
other copyright holders, we would need to get similar clarification of
intent, or an OpenSSL linking exception, from each of them.

I added a "set -x" right after the first "set -e" in /usr/bin/ucf, and
got the following:

+ . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule
++ '[' '!' 1 ']'
++ '[' -z '' ']'

++ exec

+ case ${_db_internal_line%%[ ]*} in
+ return 20
dpkg: error processing texlive-base (--configure):

So it seems that the redirection that I performed for the aptitude run
(2>&1 | tee some.log) caused the stuff that was supposed to be echoed to
stdout to end up as debconf input.

I think redirecting aptitude/dpkg like this should definitely work. But
I do not know whether this is a problem in ucf or in debconf.

When looking at http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=evgeni+golov

Bug#631475: compiz: Alt+Shift+Tab in Application Switcher does not work as expected

2011-06-24 Thread Jaromir Vybihal
Package: compiz
Version: 0.8.4-4
Severity: minor

I am using compiz plugin Application Switcher. Alt+Tab goes through windows in
one direction. Alt+Shift+Tab is supposed to go in the other direction. This
works only when Shift is pressed as the first key in the combination.
It does not work in case Alt+Tab is pressd to invoke the switcher and while
still holding Alt (to keep the switcher displayed) the keys Shift+Tab are
pressed to switch windows.

To reproduce: Press Alt+Tab and hold Alt to invoke the Application Switcher.
While holding Alt press Tab to go forward and then Shift+Tab to go backward.
Expected: The Application Switcher goes through windows in both diretions
depending on the fact whether the Shift key is down.
Actual: The Application Switcher goes one direction only ignoring the Shift key.

Bug#631476: zabbix-agent: Deinstallation of package does not work correctly if "purge" is selected-prevents reinstallation

2011-06-24 Thread Artur Linhart
Package: zabbix-agent
Version: 1:1.8.2-1squeeze2
Severity: important

The problem is, after the package is purged in aptitude,it removes correctly
the /etc/zabbix
folder or the content of this folder, but it seems still there are some files
left.
If after purge the package should be reinstalled again, then there come some
messages
"not copying deleted file /etc/zabbix/zabbix-agent.conf"
and
"not copying deleted file /etc/zabbix/zabbix-agentd.conf"
and really such files are not copied there, what causes the zabbix-agent
daemon is not started, causes an error and the package stays in uncofigured
state. The only fix Ihave found is to:
1. Deinstall the package (not purge it)
2. restore both missing files above in /etc/zabbix from backup
3. install the package again
4. Then it works

So, there will be an error in purge-deinstallation process and possibly
also in new-install process for this package.

Bug#631477: [debcommit] Be smart as to how to tag a repository

2011-06-24 Thread Joachim Breitner
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.11.0
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/debcommit

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

debcommit -r is great as it integrates well into other uses of
debcommit. But when the source is maintained using a VCS helper such as
git-buildpackage or git-dpm, it is unfortunate that it creates different
tags than these. Also, those may add more tags, e.g. for the
corresponding patched state.

Hence, if debcommit could find out whether the source is managed by
git-buildpackage (e.g. if debian/.gbp.conf is present) or by git-dpm (in
which case debian/.git-dpm will be present) and then use the appropriate
tool to tag the release, that would be very nice.

Thanks,
Joachim

I'd even vote for making it soonish because it affects two of our
packages drastically - one of them (ginkgocadx) is highly wanted an
will not make any progress without fixing this problem.

Kind regards

bugs.debian.org/#558234 redirects to http://www.debian.org/Bugs/#558234.
If that static web page would contain a JavaScript snipped that checks
if the document.hash is a number, that could redirect to
bugs.debian.org/558234. It’s a work-around, but I don’t see any problem
with it.

CC’ing the web team, they might be in a position to implement this.

Joachim

Bug#631480: Generate short URLs/links for the standard bug view

2011-06-24 Thread Joachim Breitner
Package: debbugs
Severity: wishlist

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

most of the time, people are going to look at and to link at URLs like
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=123456
e.g. the plain bug view without any options. This is also what
http://bugs.debian.org/123456
redirects to.

I think it would be much nicer if
 a) The redirect is done internal, e.g. http://bugs.debian.org/123456
will stay in the URL line, making it more likely that people will use
that when they want to link to a certain bug.
and maybe even
 b) The BTS also generates the short version version everywhere where it
links to a bug without further option.

Not a great deal, but makes the BTS a more aesthetic and slicker place
to be :-)

Greetings,
Joachim

Bug#631289: other products...

the issue seems to exist with other distros and routers, too.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=617841&sid=60cca64962f1b26b474f3a89c2963ab6

I agree that the problem lies with the routers, since they shouldn't
break the network operation whatever a connected client does or doesnt.
However, if a lot of devices have that problem, it's at least worth
investigating it, and finding a way to avoid system breakdowns until the
router firmwares are fixed.

As said, with mine it helps to limit the networking speed to WLAN-g.

Clearly, it's not a debian problem at least.

Chris

As there are no changes in relevant code in phpMyAdmin, I doubt it is
the real cause. I tried to reproduce the issue locally and on
phpMyAdmin's demo server[1] (running Debian unstable), but I failed
in both cases, is there something special steps to reproduce it?

Bug#631480: Generate short URLs/links for the standard bug view

+1

It also helps matching discussions in other bugtrackers (forums, lists,
etc.) where a Debian bug is referred to.

Taking it a step further, it also makes the BTS more compliant with the
Linked Data approach (aka Semantic Web), where there URIs of bugs could
become unique identifiers for these bugs, should they be referred to
from elsewhere (/Linked/ data).

For instance (turtle syntax for RDF predicates)

 debbugs:forwaded

would then be much more manageable by SemWeb aware applications, if that
short url was standard/default.

Same stands for bugzilla, in this case, btw, which suffers same problems.

Let me add that content-negociation on the "Accept:" header with respect
to the expected format for output of these URLs (either HTML for humans
as of now, or RDF for machines) would be a plus, also.

See http://bugs.debian.org/565513 which deals with other aspects of that
RDF/Linked Data problem, as OSLC-CM is a protocol which mandates REST
and RDF/Linked Data principles.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Bug#631355: dstat: provide mem info in default output

2011-06-24 Thread Dag Wieers

On Thu, 23 Jun 2011, Ritesh Raj Sarraf wrote:

Thank you for maintaining dstat.

It would be convenient if dstat included memory information in default
output. I've attached the patch.

It would be convenient if patched would be send through upstream's github
interface, so that discussions can be held there as well :-)

That said, the memory output is wide and changes less often than the other
default dstat plugins shown. So it was a deliberate decision to remove the
memory output from the default dstat output in order to make it fit in 80
columns width terminals.

It's very easy to add internal plugins, if you do dstat -am, you basically
have the output you like. (The default, also -a, is the same as -cdnpy as
documented in the man-page).

I hope that answers your question sufficiently.

Bug#630042: probably about 25% of all G4 images are not decodable

2011-06-24 Thread Jay Berkenbilt
I have confirmed the bug and found a correct fix to it from upstream's
CVS. I have locally built tiff-3.9.4-5+squeeze3 and confirmed that it
can decode all the images attached to this bug report. I have
coordinated upload with the security team and will be uploading this
morning. If you'd like, I can make the source packages available to you
immediately (or as soon as I see your message) for you to build
yourself. Alternatively, you can downgrade to tiff-3.9.4-5 and wait for
tiff-3.9.4-5+squeeze3 to appear in security updates to upgrade again.
Let me know which way you'd like to go.

Bug#631487: grub-imageboot: please adapt or document seemingly random usage of the option "raw"

2011-06-24 Thread Carsten Hey
Package: grub-imageboot
Severity: wishlist

Currently, there is only one google hit for „"rawimg" linux16"” (a copy
of grub-imageboot's extracted source code) and all documentation I was
able to find, including your blog entry, uses "raw" instead. Thus,
I assume the below quoted line is just a typo.

| test -z "$IMAGEOPTS" && IMAGEOPTS="rawimg"

Please undo this typo in bin/60_grub-imageboot and also adapt
etc/grub-imageboot accordingly if I'm right.

grub-imageboot uses "iso" as option to boot .iso files and it does not
use "raw". To be able to use an iso image containing a firmware upgrade
tool, I needed to add "raw" manually, so using both is at least not
always wrong.

The type of .img files is automatically determined by memdisk. Depending
on the size of the file, it is either detected as floppy image or as
harddisk image. To let the user decide which type of image the file is,
either "floppy" or "harddisk" would need to be added as option, similar
to "iso" which is used for .iso files. This could be implemented by
adding new file name extensions ".floppy" and ".harddisk", i.e., an
image file "asdf.floppy" would be booted as floppy image,
"asdf.harddisk" would be booted as harddisk image and how to boot
"asdf.img" would be automatically determined by memdisk.

As described above, grub-imageboot does not add (as I would have
expected) the type of the image as option for .img files, but instead
adds an option ("raw") that tells memdisk how to enter protected mode.

I don't understand why "raw" is passed to harddisk and floppy images by
default, but not to iso images. If there is a reason to do so, please
document it, otherwise please adapt the behaviour.

Besides "raw", there are other options that might be needed to boot some
images on specific computers (see /usr/share/doc/syslinux/memdisk.txt.gz
for details). If an option is required to boot image A but must not be
used to be able to boot image B, there is currently no way to tell
grub-imageboot to do so.

Two ways to make grub-imageboot more configurable that come to my mind
are:
 * read options for ${imagefile} from ${imagefile}.config if it exists
 * let the users add additional file name extensions with custom options
in /etc/default/grub-imageboot, e.g., .raw-hdd, which uses "raw" and
   "harddisk" as options

The latter could be implemented like this:
| set -e
|
| . /usr/lib/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib
|
| imageboot_add_extension() {
| ...
| }
|
| IMAGES=/boot/images
|
| if [ -e "/etc/default/grub-imageboot" ]
| then
| . /etc/default/grub-imageboot
| fi
|
| ...

Users could use imageboot_add_extension in /etc/default/grub-imageboot
to add custom extensions.

I don't have an idea how imageboot_add_extension would look like exactly
yet, though.

Bug#631488: grub-imageboot: please do not load default values for configuration variables that have been set to an empty string

2011-06-24 Thread Carsten Hey
Package: grub-imageboot
Severity: wishlist

If a user sets IMAGEOPTS to an empty string, grub-imageboot sets it to
the default value "rawimg". I think if a user decides to explicitly set
a configuration variable to any value, this decision should be
respected.

In my refactored grub-imageboot, fixing this can be done by replacing
${FOO:-bar} with ${FOO-bar}.

Bug#631486: grub-imageboot: please mention ability to boot harddisk images in documentation

2011-06-24 Thread Carsten Hey
Package: grub-imageboot
Severity: wishlist

debian/control:
===

grub-imageboot is able to boot harddisk images (currently .img files
larger than 4 MB are detected as harddisk images). Please consider
mentioning this ability in the package's description.

| Description: boot iso and floppy images with grub2 and syslinux memdisk

Adding this to above quoted short description would make it rather long, but
maybe you have an idea how this could be done. If you don't, just
adapting the long description should suffice, e.g.:

| This package installs a grub hook which integrates iso, harddisk and
| floppy images into the grub menu.

(I have no idea if "ISO image" is more commonly used than "iso image")

If you adapt the description anyway, please also add the trailing period
to it. The final paragraph currently is:
| memdisk can't boot every image see
| http://syslinux.zytor.com/wiki/index.php/MEMDISK for its limitations

... but it should be:
| memdisk can't boot every image see
| http://syslinux.zytor.com/wiki/index.php/MEMDISK for its limitations.

debian/README.Debian:
=

The first two paragraphs of debian/README.Debian just mention floppy
and iso images, please also mention hard disk images there.

This file also points to /etc/default/grub-imageboot.conf, which has
been renamed to /etc/default/grub-imageboot.

etc/grub-imageboot:
===

The following line does not mention harddisk images:
| # You can override the boot options for iso/floppy images here

Bug#631489: glusterfs-client: [l10n:cs] package description in czech is funny/nonsense

2011-06-24 Thread Petr Hubený
Package: glusterfs-client
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

It seems like the translation was made via google translator or something like
that.
The original sentence says that

"GlusterFS is a clustered file-system capable of scaling to several peta-
bytes."

However in czech it is

"ClusterFS je clusterový souborový systém schopný odměřovat různé peta-
byty."

which translated back to english reads

"ClusteFS (sic) is a clustered file-system capable of measuring various peta-
bytes."

Description : Dancer plugin to display temporary, so called "flash
messages"

Dancer::Plugin::FlashMessage helps you display temporary messages, also known
as "flash messages". Flash messages can be used to inform the user that a
certain operation was successful in way that doesn't take space when there
are no messages to be shown.

The plugin provides a flash() method for setting the message and takes care
of attaching the content to the session, propagating it to the templating
system, and then removing it from the session.

The developer's only remaining job is to provide a place in the views or the
layout where the message will be displayed.

Dancer is a lightweight yet powerful web application framework.

I would like to get rid of the /bin/sh symlink in this version. this is
unfinished work started when making /bin/dash the default. If you want to help
with this, please send a working patch, which works with both new installations
and upgrades.

Bug#631494: dpkg-dev: dpkg-buildpackage -S fails to clean up temporary files on SIGINT

2011-06-24 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.16.0.3
Severity: normal

Hi,

at least with 1.0 (native), temporary files can remain on the filesystem
when SIGINT is received while building a source package.

Here's a test case:
  debcheckout xutils-dev
  cd xutils-dev
  dd if=/dev/zero of=.git/foo bs=10k count=10k
  debuild -S -i
  ^C

At this point:
| $ ls ../xutils-dev_*
| ../xutils-dev_7.6+5_source.build ../xutils-dev_7.6+5.tar.gz.new.NPs99e

and that .tar.gz.new.* file should have been killed.

Two notes:
 - a 100MB file under .git was just a way to make the tarball creation
step longer, so that one can hit ^C at this moment.
 - ^C should be entered during this phase:
   “dpkg-source: info: building xutils-dev in xutils-dev_7.6+5.tar.gz”

Mraw,
KiBi.

I don't use either of those tools. What would be the appropriate way to
tag when those tools are in use?

Bug#631498: e2fsprogs: filefrag should report adjacent extents as one

2011-06-24 Thread Ibragimov Rinat
Package: e2fsprogs
 Version: 1.41.12-4
 Severity: wishlist
 Tags: patch

When filefrag uses FIEMAP ioctl its logic differs for ordinary and verbose
(-v) modes. ext4 returns extent on every 32768 block so on large files it is
possible that `filefrag large-file' tells about 4 extents while
 `filefrag -v large-file' finds only one.

Also when I tried to use generic_block_fiemap function to add FIEMAP for
reiserfs, every block was reported as a new extent resulting in thousands
 "extents" for continuous files.

I think filefrag should merge adjacent extents even when -v is not
 specified.

Bug#620100: libreoffice-sdbc-postgresql: cannot edit tables

2011-06-24 Thread Ferry Toth
I fail to see how not building this package fixes the bug.

For me, not having the sdbc driver makes the whole Base functionality
useless as the jdbc driver is way (10x) to slow and the odbc driver only
produces errors.

Even the broken sdbc driver is at least able to retrieve records from
the database a great speed. The problem is that is does not let you
update or add records.

I request that this bug is set to not fixed and grave.

Thanks,

Ferry

Here's a patch. I couldn't find any suggestion of a minimum Python
version in the source, so I just omitted X-Python-Version; feel free to
add this if you know better.

  * Convert to dh_python2.

True, but how does that change the point that there's no bug in a
package if the package doesn't exist (anymore)[1]?

It's also not my problem if you use a unofficial driver not kept uptodate
instead of a working, official one...

> I request that this bug is set to not fixed and grave.

A grave bug in somethig not existing anymore? You are kidding.
And no, grave would not fit anyay.

Get someone fix the ortiginal bug and we can happily reenable
the package.

Grüße/Regards,

René

[1] not built packages are normally semi-automatically removed and that will
happen before the new version enters testing. That it happens to exist
in sid right now still is just because that removal didn't happen
(probably just because all gcj-using archs fail to build...)

Yes, I think I'd reopen the bug. However it would then need to be

Reportbug searches only on the bugs subjects since it's the only thing
it downloads at the first step. It's absolutely unfeasable to get a
full list of bugs + their content and then search on them (consider
bug packages like gnome, kernel and so on). If it's supported by the
backend (i.e. debbugs) by introducing a new API to be called via SOAP,
then we can introduce this "Full-search" option, else it's a wontfix
request.

Here's a patch. I couldn't find any suggestion of a minimum Python
version in the source, so I just omitted X-Python-Version; feel free to
add this if you know better.

  * Convert to dh_python2.

Bug#631143: Module is for different version 1.2.15

2011-06-24 Thread Yuri D'Elia
Package: dovecot-antispam
Followup-For: Bug #631143

Pretty-please: put a _versioned_ dependency on dovecot-imapd next time you
upload this package.

*Several* ABI-mismatch bugs were reported for dovecot-antispam in the past,
including myself. All of these were grave, since they inherently break imapd.

As long as dovecot does not provide a decent ABI for plugins you need to
put a versioned dependency!

Thanks.

2011-06-24 Thread Johannes Rohr
Package: ntfs-3g

Mounting NTFS volumes through gvfs currently fails with an error from ntfs-3g

Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:

FUSE support and make it setuid root. Please see more information at

after reconfiguring it to use setuit root, the error message changes to:

Bug#631505: choqok: erroneously reports authentication required for DMs and on launch

2011-06-24 Thread Ryan Cartwright
Package: choqok
Version: 1.1-1
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

I think this may be a bug upstream rather than Debian-specific but anyway..

Choqok reports an authentication error when launching and when trying
to compose (you don't even get to the send bit) a direct message. The
reported dialog says "This method requires authentication." but I ran
it from a shell and saw this extra information if that helps:

"choqok(28086): Error at request "/1/statuses/friends.xml?cursor=-1"
: "This method requires authentication.""

It reports the same error upon launch and upon direct message composition.

The program can still be used other than for direct messages.

Hi,

libwxbase 2.8.11 and libwxgtk2 are available in Ubuntu Natty and Oneiric. I
have confirmed that the Ubuntu package for 2.8.11 installed on Debian fixes
the crash issue in Ginkgo-CADx so you might want to consider porting the
Ubuntu version over to Debian.

simpler from here on.

Hmm, OK, so we've used more metadata buffers than we told JBD2 to
reserve. I suppose you are not using data=journal mode and the filesystem
was created as ext4 (i.e. not converted from ext3), right? Are you using
quotas?

The trouble is that the problem is likely in some journal list shuffling
code because if just some operation wrongly estimated the number of needed
buffers, we'd fail the assertion in jbd2_journal_dirty_metadata():
J_ASSERT_JH(jh, handle->h_buffer_credits > 0);

The patch below might catch the problem closer to the place where it
happens...

Also possibly you can try current kernel whether the bug happens with it or
not.

Bug#631514: squid: upgrade fails when 'cache_dir null no-cache' directive in configuration

2011-06-24 Thread James Page
Package: squid
Version: 2.7.STABLE9-4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu oneiric ubuntu-patch

*** /tmp/tmpvb3dgG
In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

If the directive 'cache_dir null no-cache' (i.e. don't cache anything)
is present in the squid configuration the config and postinst scripts
do not deal with the scenario and attempt to stat and chown 'no-cache'.

This fix simply checks that target of any ownership changes is actually
a valid target to change.

  * debian/postinst, debian/config:
- Fix upgrade failures where cache_dir type of null is in use by
checking that cache_dir points at a real directory or symbolic
  link (LP: #800468).

Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#630832: gbp-create-remote-repo: should support homedir URLs

The problem with doing that, is that if anything in the "~username/"
part is quoted, the tilde expansion doesn't work anymore.

From the bash(1) manpage:

> If a word begins with an unquoted tilde character (`~'), all of the

The equivalent section in the dash(1) manpage isn't as detailed, but
from my testing, it works the same way (at least with regards to
quoting). (This is why I added the "base" key to the dict returned by
parse_remote(); if the tilde expansion would have worked with the path
quoted, I would have just modified that.)

What I can do instead is to tighten up the regex that extracts the
~username part of the URL such that there can't be any shell special
characters or whitespace in it; that will eliminate the need to quote
it. The regex I'm currently looking at[1] will accept alphanumerics,
underscores, and hyphens; can you think of anything else that should be
included?

> It would be great if you could also add some doctests (there are
> examples in gbp/deb.py) to parse_remote but that's not a must.

I've added a number of doctests in my latest patch.

I also noticed that the invocation of ssh to run the remote script
didn't work properly if there was an explicit port in the URL. I've gone
ahead and fixed that as well.
