Bug#573936: milter-greylist: Errors when reading back e-mail addresses from greylist.db

2010-03-15 Thread Stephan Austermühle
Package: milter-greylist
Version: 3.0-3.1
Severity: normal

Last night my milter-greylist crashed with a segfault:

130 ip 7fd0a8e33900 sp 420030f0 error 4 in libmilter.so.1.0.1[7fd0a8e28000+f000]

When restarting milter-greylist it reports some errors:

Mar 15 07:30:37 n0034 milter-greylist: unknown token "(" line 3511, skipping
Mar 15 07:30:37 n0034 milter-greylist: dump error at line 3511: syntax error

Mar 15 07:30:37 n0034 milter-greylist: unknown token ")" line 3591, skipping

Here are The lines 3511 and 3591 from greylist.db:

222.89.92.106

So it looks like milter-greylist trips over addresses with brackets that it has
written itself.

Bug#571532: gij: Bus error when executing ant

2010-03-15 Thread Petr Salinger

Hi.

The problem is triggered by this line, for any small file,
which seems to me allowed by java specification

srcChannel.transferTo(0, FileUtils.BUF_SIZE,destChannel);

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/nio/channels/FileChannel.html:

An attempt is made to read up to count bytes from the source channel and
write them to this channel's file starting at the given position. An
invocation of this method may or may not transfer all of the requested
bytes; whether or not it does so depends upon the natures and states of
the channels. Fewer than the requested number of bytes will be
  transferred
if the source channel has fewer than count bytes remaining, or if the
source channel is non-blocking and has fewer than count bytes
immediately available in its input buffer.

It is implemented in
libjava/gnu/java/nio/channels/FileChannelImpl.java

via smallTransferTo() via map() via mapImpl().

The specification of map() explicitely states:

Many of the details of memory-mapped files are inherently dependent upon
the underlying operating system and are therefore unspecified. The
behavior of this method when the requested region is not completely
contained within this channel's file is unspecified.

The transferTo(0, 8192, ...) is translated into mmap() of 8192
bytes from file of size 1701 on architecture with pagesize 4096.

This system call succeeds, the later acces to 2nd page fails.
Moreover, it looks like transferTo(0, 4096, ...) would write
4096 bytes to destination file from file with size 1701.

IMHO, the implementaion of smallTransferTo() should be fixed.

Petr

Perhaps this is not cdbs fault, but the one who calls this scripts.

Thanks for filing this bugreport.

Most likely this is the fault of the package delivering the CDBS snippet
that you use.

Unfortunately - and confusing for you as user - the Haskell developers
chose to not cooporate directly with the CDBS maintainers in maintaining
a snippet for their needs but felt it better to maintain it on their
own. :-(

Hereby reassigned to haskell-devscripts providing the CDBS snippet
hlibrary.mk.

Kind regards,

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/share/man/man3/regexp.3.gz

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package.

-Ralf.

Bug#573945: Please use the warnings system to report deprecation warnings

2010-03-15 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: python-debian
Version: 0.1.15
Severity: normal

Hello,

thanks for python-debian. I appreciate the importance of dropping the
"_bundle" bit. However, the way it has been done is causing trouble: see
#573935.

update-apt-xapian-index is run on a cronjob every week. Such warnings
spam people. I added this code to prevent it, because python-apt was
introducing about 2 new deprecation warnings every week, and warnings
are useful in the terminal when you are developing, but don't belong in
a cron job in production system:

  if options.quiet:
aptprogress = AptSilentProgress()
progress = SilentProgress()
warnings.filterwarnings("ignore","")

However, much to my desperation, python-debian prints the warning in
this way:

  sys.stderr.write("WARNING: the 'debian_bundle' package is *DEPRECATED*; "
   "use the 'debian' package\n")

the same happens, grep told me, in deb822.py:

  print >> sys.stderr, "WARNING:",\
  "the 'deb822' top-level module is *DEPRECATED*,", \
  "please use 'debian.deb822'"

Besides this, in the last 4 months all the time I could possibly
dedicate to apt-xapian-index has been spent chasing deprecation warnings
being introduced all of a sudden and out of the blue by dependencies.

At least a mail to the reverse dependencies warning of things before the
deprecation is introduced would have been really, really appreciated.

Ciao,

Enrico

Well, this is not possible within Debian. ARM for example have 4
different ABIs. It is only possible to devide them in two sets via
kernel information.

That output can varry from machine to machine, so it is useless.

right, because the strftime argument is used locally and not passed
on to rrd_last ...

fix is in r2029:2030

Thank you for the report. However more information will be needed to
know if this is a bug in rm or a different problem. Please provide
the following information.

  $ df -PT transcode-1.1.5

  $ lsattr -a transcode-1.1.5

  $ ls -la transcode-1.1.5

  $ id

Note that if an 'i' (immutable) attribute has been set then you must
use 'chattr' to remove it before being able to remove, rename or
modify the file.

Thanks

Thanks for the offer, patch and slapping my sleepy head.

I've applied it in SVN (r774), upload will follow tonight.

Bug#573947: plymouth-set-default-theme: plymouth-update-initrd: No such file or directory

2010-03-15 Thread Christian Meyer
Package: plymouth
Version: 0.7.2-2
Severity: normal

I found several bugs in plymouth-set-default-theme:

A real "normal" bug:
# LANG=C; plymouth-set-default-theme fade-in --rebuild-initrd
/usr/sbin/plymouth-set-default-theme: line 142:
/usr/libexec/plymouth/plymouth-update-initrd: No such file or directory

And now several "wishlist" bugs (I appologize for including them, but they are
to small to file an extra bugreport):

plymouth-set-default-theme should give a short help when run without parameters
(e.g. function usage () ). Now it only displays only the default theme (and
gives no info about its meaning):
# plymouth-set-default-theme
fade-in

This isn't useful:
# plymouth-set-default-theme --help
/usr/share/plymouth/themes/--help/--help.plymouth does not exist

BTW: This shouldn't happen, too:
# LANG=C; plymouth-set-default-theme --rebuild-initrd
/usr/share/plymouth/themes//.plymouth does not exist

Bug#573948: debian-installer: Partman/LVM : wrong VG size after reset partition table

2010-03-15 Thread G. Leimua
Package: debian-installer
Severity: minor

Using the hd-media/boot.img.gz of :
- the latest testing (2010-02-11 ?) with debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso
  dated 2010-03-12,
- Lenny6 / debian-504-amd64-netinst.iso.

There is a bug in the way the LVM wizard calculate the PV and VG sizes after
creating a new partition table. It seems to report the size of the previous
partition.

Steps to reproduce :
- take a disk with, for example, /dev/sda1 = PV of 10G
- launch the installer (in my case, text-based from USB thumb drive
  using hd-media)
- in the partman part, go "manual"
- in the list of drives, "click" on the disk in order to "create a new
  empty partition table",
- create now a partition of 20G as "physical volume for LVM",
- "configure LVM" (when ask to write changes, say "yes"),
- "Create volume group"

The size reported is the one of the previous partition.

I tag this bug as minor but there may be big problems if the old size
is greater than the new. Will the LVM write after the new partition
in that case ?

May be related to #539557.

Bug#573949: openoffice.org-writer: crash when opening odt documents over cifs with writer 3.2.0-4

2010-03-15 Thread Giorgos Pallas
Package: openoffice.org-writer
Version: 1:3.2.0-4
Severity: important

Today my squeeze box updated openoffice-writer from 3.1.1-16 to 3.2.0-4.
I noticed that it always crashes when trying to open an odt file over a cifs
mounted folder:

$ mount | grep cifs
//xxxMYSTORAGE_SERVERxxx/winHome/home/gpall on /media/noc-shares/gpall type
cifs (rw,mand,nosuid,nodev,user=gpall)

gp...@aris:/media/noc-shares/gpall/Various Docs/test$ pwd
/media/noc-shares/gpall/Various Docs/test
gp...@aris:/media/noc-shares/gpall/Various Docs/test$ ls -la
total 36
drwxrwxrwx 2 gpall gpall 0 2010-03-15 11:12 .
drwxrwxrwx 3 gpall gpall 0 2010-03-15 11:12 ..
-rwxrwSrwx 1 gpall gpall 27320 2010-03-15 11:12 Formes_Adeiwv.odt
gp...@aris:/media/noc-shares/gpall/Various Docs/test$
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/swriter Formes_Adeiwv.odt
gp...@aris:/media/noc-shares/gpall/Various Docs/test$

Then, the OO splash screen appears, and just after that, I get a window with
title "OpenOffice.org 3.2", and it says:
---
OpenOffice.org Document Recovery
Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org crashed. All the files you were
working on will now be saved.
The next time OpenOffice.org is launched, your files will be recovered
automatically.
The following files will be recovered:

OK (button)

--

When I open the same file from my Desktop for example, it opens OK. I also
tried to create a new OO file, saved it,
copied it to the cifs mounted folder, tried to open it and it crashed again.

After the crash, in the folder of the document, I can see the following lock
file:

gp...@aris:/media/noc-shares/gpall/Various Docs/test$ ls -la
total 40
drwxrwxrwx 2 gpall gpall 0 2010-03-15 11:15 .

-rwxrwSrwx 1 gpall gpall85 2010-03-15 11:15 .~lock.Formes_Adeiwv.odt#

I include a strace of the crash:

With empty $GREP_OPTIONS all works fine.

Attached patch against git master. Would be nice to get this applied in Debian
too if there are no plans for another upstream release anytime soon.

Bug#543310: Announce of an upcoming upload for the sa-exim package

2010-03-15 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of sa-exim and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the sa-exim Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

The package maintainer and I agreed for a translation update round. At
the end of this period, I will send him|her a full patch so that
an l10n upload can happen.
The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs da de es fi fr gl it ja nl pt pt_BR ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: da gl nl

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the sa-exim package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Saturday, March 20,
2010. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

Schedule:

Friday, March 12, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Sunday, March 14, 2010 : send this notice
Saturday, March 20, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation
updates
Sunday, March 21, 2010 : Send a summary to the maintainer. Maintainer

Bug#573940: coreutils: rm -r doesn't work on kfreebsd-i386

I was really expecting to see that some files were set immutable.
It is the usual cause of "Operation not permitted". :-/

The next bit of information would be to strace the command to see what
the system returns. Could you try this and report back on what you
find? The -e trace=file restricts the run to file related system
calls. If that doesn't happen to show anything interesting please run
it without that restriction. It just keeps the noise down.

  $ strace -v -e trace=file -o /tmp/rm-strace.out rm -rf transcode-1.1.5

I am expecting to see something like this:

  unlinkat(3, "somefile", 0)= 0

But obviously it will be something different in your case.

> FYI downgrading to 7.4-2 solve this bug.

Hmm...

Thanks,
Bob

at /usr/share/otrs/Kernel/System/DB.pm line 490.

This message is caused by PostMasterPOP3.pl cron task when it find a mail that
contains something that it doesn't like (subject from mail has non-english
characters and then they are q-encoding).

Our last message causing this issue had:

There is a faq at otrs.org which explain this issue [1]

Is there any tip to solve this issue, and maintaining otrs compatible with

Bug#573952: claims to be "a free sound set" but is in section non-free

2010-03-15 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Package: openttd-opensfx
Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

in its description the openttd-opensfx package claims to be "a free
sound set for use with the OpenTTD game" but it is in Debian's
non-free section, which is cleary contradictory. I haven't had a look
at the debian/copyright file, but either the description or the
archive section is wrong for this package. Please get this right!

Hi,

A while ago you reported a crash in kino in Debian. I'm unable to
reproduce it now, what about you? In addition, your initial bug report
did not provide enough information to be able to reproduce it. Please
upload a minimal sample file and tell us the exact sequence of steps
needed to reproduce the issue.

No, no change... I believe this problem is not ntfs-3g related, because the
same I got for FAT, NTFS and even Ext3... All of them are easily accessible,
when I mount them as root with /sbin/mount

Bug#573955: openswan: starts before eth0 acquires IPv6 address

2010-03-15 Thread Jason White
Package: openswan
Version: 1:2.6.23+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

I can reproduce this both on my desktop machine and in a KVM guest.

When OpenSwan starts up during boot, it fails to acquire the IPv6 address
assigned to my eth0 interface. Consequently, the IPv6 tunnels defined in
/etc/ipsec.conf (with auto=start) fail to start.

I am using dependency-based boot sequencing.

If I later run service ipsec restart, the IPv6 address is acquired and the
tunnels are brought up.

On my desktop machine, the IPv6 address is assigned, as static, in
/etc/network/interfaces; in the KVM guest it is obtained via
auto-configuration.

Hi,

it seems you're running a gpsd instance as non-root user with the same socket,
or something similar. Looks like a fault on your side - please provide me more
information when you think its a bug in the package.

Cheers,

Bernd

Another question arises, *parted still think that the device is full size

It all depends on your meaning of free :-) It was intended to mean "Freely
distributable", but I agree that it is confusing right now. I'll fix this in the
next upload (which will probably be a new upstream release in a few weeks).

Thanks for the report.

Bug#561206: 561206

2010-03-15 Thread Lachlan
i have managed to get things working well with the experimental driver
6.12.191. only minor graphics strangeness but very acceptable.

i had been trying with drivers in testing and unstable but it would
not work correctly with the 6.12.4 in testing or 6.12.5 driver in
unstable.

looks like all i had to do was wait for things to make it into debian.
sorry for being impatient but i'm so glad to be using free drivers now!

thank you deb dev's and and anyone who worked on the ati drivers.

please close this bug as resolved by installing xserver-xorg-video-ati
6.12.191-1 which is currently in experimental.

Bug#573958: salasaga: DejaVuSans.ttf could not be opened

2010-03-15 Thread Guilhem Bonnefille
Package: salasaga

I've just installed the salasaga package. When launching the application, an
error dialog open and displays:

Error ED423: Font file '//usr/share/salasaga/ttf/DejaVuSans.ttf' could not be
opened by FreeType.

I don't know if it is grave or not.
The directory /usr/share/salasaga/ttf/ is empty.
The directory /usr/share/salasaga/font_outline/ contains DejaVusSans releted
files.
I hope that helps.

Hi,
I have tried konsole on kfreebsd (kfreebsd-amd64 to be exact) and I
can reproduce your bug. The problem seems to be that a call to
openpty() fails. I think this has to do with the 8.0 kernel, since it
used to work a few months ago when I still had the 7.2 kernel. I am
currently looking for a solution...

George

Bug#570727: fails when comparing minimal trees on i386

2010-03-15 Thread Daiki Ueno
tags 570727 +patch
thanks

Hi,

The problem seems to be caused by id() calculation bug in the C
extension part of xmldiff.

xmldiff constructs a tuple like this:

  #define KEYSHAPE "(i,i)"

  PyObject *node1, ...;
  key = Py_BuildValue(KEYSHAPE, (size_t)node1, ...) ;

and its Python part refers to the tuple as (id(node1), ...).

This is problematic because the return value of id() would either be an
Int (fixed size) or a Long (arbitrary precision) object. I think the
original problem can also observed on 64bit systems, but more likely on
32bit systems.

The attached patch will fix the problem (I'll notify the upstream
shortly).

Bug#573961: Subject: openoffice.org: OpenOffice MS Word import filter does not import fontworks

2010-03-15 Thread Wojtek Zabolotny
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:3.2.0-4
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***
I have discovered the problem when I tried to open old documents
(both MS Word created and OO created and stored as doc files) containing
fontwork objects.
The objects haven't got imported when opening the documents.
I attach sample files - test1.odt and test1.doc.
When you open the test1.odt - the fontwork is read correctly.
When you open the test1.doc (the same file saved in doc format) - no
fontwork
is displayed.

The bugreport for this is #74067 .
To put it simple: upgrade and install/dist-upgrade are different solver
strategies - and upgrade and dist-upgrade can't handle specific packages
as it is in their nature to upgrade the complete package set.
This should (and will) be changed at some point in the future (CUDF),
but not for squeeze…

… what is possible for squeeze is a complement flag to --no-upgrade:
--only-upgrade which, oh wonder, does exactly that while using
the install command logic. This flag doesn't alter the autoinstall state.
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~donkult/apt/sid/revision/1954

> Besides upgrading the package (if installed) it should also NOT alter

Just as a note why i think it is okay to alter the autoinstall state if
you use plain "apt-get install" to upgrade a package:
You cared explicitly about this package by upgrading it, so it is
at least likely that you would be unhappy if it would disappear
automatically later in an autoremove…

Oh and just in case: apt has still the "upgrade" command to get
the complete system upgraded (without removes/new installs) which
is a pretty safe operation even in a scripted usage and is in general
a better option than cherrypicking - the small, ugly and untouched
cherries have most of the time the biggest bugs. ;)

Bug#572792: duplicity: Archive dir local cache tends to grow in unlimited way

i've now packaged 0.6.08b (which doesn't address this in any way)
and incorporated a fairly brutal but full fix
for this issue: remove-older-than and remove-all-but-n-full
(when run with --force) now automatically run
a full cleanup with --extra-clean enabled.

i believe that short of backing out changeset 616 (which introduced
the problematic notion of not cleaning out old stuff despite
the users wishes) that's the best option to restore duplicity
to a proper, non-space-hogging working state.

i'm going to test this version for a few days to eliminate any unexpected
gotchas and will upload it then.

happened on the preceeding version. No trouble on another amd64 system
here.
I use dpkg -i on this report to avoid the extra complications under

The workaround patch is for just 23.1, not for 24.x. So, this flim
package also works with the latest emacs-snapshot (24.x).

Bug#573892: flim: mel-q-ccl.el checks emacs version for 23.1, which is a bad thing

2010-03-15 Thread Anton Kovalenko
On Mon, Mar 15 2010, Tatsuya Kinoshita wrote:

> The workaround patch is for just 23.1, not for 24.x. So, this flim
> package also works with the latest emacs-snapshot (24.x).

The problem is that it does not, i.e. it doesn't work _correctly_.

I decided to report it in the first place because

(1) with a first update to a 24.x emacs-snapshot, (1:20100311-1 build by
Romain Francoise), quoted-printable encoding in flim started to corrupt
my mail messages in wanderlust, _and_

(2) after I extended the "23 1" conditions to match "24 x" also,
quoted-printable encoding in flim _ceased_ to corrupt my mail messages,
working correctly again.

So, though I don't yet fully understand the nature of this workaround
and why it's necessary, I'm pretty sure that it _is_ needed for the
current emacs snapshot 24.x, as well as for 23.1.

Ignore symbols files changes when DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS is set.

Not stripping the library leaves some additional symbols, so we just
ignore that when the package is being built with debug options.

Bug#573966: ITP: syncache -- Thread-safe time-limited cache for Ruby

2010-03-15 Thread Dmitry Borodaenko
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Dmitry Borodaenko

* Package name: syncache
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : Dmitry Borodaenko
* URL : http://samizdat.nongnu.org/
* License : GPL3+
  Programming Lang: Ruby
  Description : Thread-safe time-limited cache for Ruby

SynCache stores cached objects in a Hash that is protected by an advanced
two-level locking mechanism which ensures that:
 .
  * Multiple threads can add and fetch objects in parallel.
  * While one thread is working on a cache entry, other threads can access
the rest of the cache with no waiting on the global lock, no race
conditions nor deadlock or livelock situations.
  * While one thread is performing a long and resource-intensive
operation, other threads that request the same data will be put on hold,
and as soon as the first thread completes the operation, the result will be
returned to all threads.

This was previously part of libsamizdat-ruby package, now it's released
as a separate module upstream, so it can be packaged in its own source
package in Debian. Apart from the obvious benefit of allowing to use
this module (and the syncache-drb server) without other parts of
Samizdat, it allowed me to build libsyncache-ruby1.9.1 that can be used
with Ruby 1.9 even though Samizdat itself depends on some libraries that
are only packaged for Ruby 1.8 (rmagick, mahoro, algorithm-diff).

Hmm, I coudn't reproduce the quoted-printable problem on wl-beta

Could you please tell the procedure to reproduce your problem?

I've only tested viking and that works fine now. I'm wondering if a
WATCH_NEWSTYLE should be added to ensure that the proper mode is selected -
although I guess it should be fine to use the defaults.

In principle it seems I could package this in /usr/bin (according to
Patrick). If you have time/motivation, the following would be helpful

- a list of the appropriate python packages that are dependencies of
  this script.

- Some kind of documentation explaining how to use it. Even a paragraph

Bug#573970: maradns: please provide an "include" statement for mararc

2010-03-15 Thread Chris Butler
Package: maradns
Version: 1.3.07.09-2
Severity: wishlist

Our MaraDNS configuration is built from a combination of a static file
containing the server settings, and an autogenerated list of zones.

Currently we acheive this by 'cat'ing the two sections together into one
mararc file. However it would be a bit cleaner and less prone to error if we
could just include the auto-generated config from the static file.

Please consider adding an "include" statement to the mararc syntax.

Bug#573974: RM: josm-plugins -- ROM; prevents josm from migrating; doesn't work with sid's josm

2010-03-15 Thread David Paleino
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hello,
as can be seen in #571140 , josm-plugins doesn't work anymore with the version
of JOSM in Sid. This is because the two packages are closely tied, and josm-
plugins works only for a specific version of josm. This is why we usually make
coordinate uploads of both.
This time, with JOSM 2561, it happened that we couldn't upload josm-plugins in
a timely manner, because of licensing issues to be solved upstream.
This is also preventing josm from migrating to testing

We'll keep the RC-buggy package in sid for the moment, in the hope we can make
a new upload ASAP.

Thank you,
David
(I'm not in Uploaders because the last upload of josm-plugins happened when I
wasn't listed there yet)

Which RTL8192 driver? There's rtl8192e and rtl8192su.

Ben.

I say we take off; nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Bug#573978: libgmp-ocaml: Wrong conversion from int on 64 bits computer

2010-03-15 Thread Claude Marche
Package: libgmp-ocaml
Version: 20021123-16+b1
Severity: important

The gmp bindings for ocaml proveded by this package
have a buggy implementation of Z.from_int on 64bits computer.
The wrong behavior can be reproduced as follows:

> ocaml
#directory "+gmp";;
#load "gmp.cma";;
open Gmp;;
#install_printer Z.print;;
Z.from_int Pervasives.max_int;; (* gives -1 instead of 4611686018427387903 *)
Z.from_int Pervasives.min_int;; (* gives 0 instead of -4611686018427387904 *)

My guess is that the C stubs are using Int_val instead of Long_val, but I can't
provide a patch since I'm not sure.

Remark: there exists another open-source library providing Ocaml bindings for
GMP, named MLGMPIDL and
available at

http://www.inrialpes.fr/pop-art/people/bjeannet/mlxxxidl-forge/mlgmpidl/index.html

Moreover, it additionally provides bindings for MPFR.

I've tested it and it does not have the bug above. Hence, you maintainers
should consider replacing
the current MLGMP bindings with this new MLGMPIDL.

Thanks!

- Claude Marche
