Bug#299398: denemo: Menu Icon please

2005-03-13 Thread tim hall
Package: denemo
Version: 0.7.2a-7
Severity: wishlist

Hi Guenter, it's me again, icon hunting,

I notice that your application lacks an icon. For the Debian package please
could you create a 32x32 pixel XPM in /usr/share/pixmaps/denemo.xpm and
reference it from /usr/lib/menu/denemo by adding this:

icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/denemo.xpm"

For more information, please refer to the updated Debian Policy:
http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/menu.html/ch3.html#s3.7
This will ensure that your nice icon shows up in most menus.

If you're not graphically inclined, I'm prepared to create a suitable icon and
submit a menufile patch into the bargain. Please email me with your
requirements if this is the case.

Thanks for taking the time to deal with this, and thanks for all the effort you
have put in to maintaining great free software.

Bug#299419: qsynth: Menu Icon not referenced by menu file

2005-03-13 Thread tim hall
Package: qsynth
Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: minor

For the Debian package please could you reference the XPM from
/usr/lib/menu/qsynth by adding this:

icon="/usr/share/icons/qsynth.xpm"

(It should _really_ be in /usr/share/pixmaps/qsynth.xpm)

For more information, please refer to the updated Debian Policy:
http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/menu.html/ch3.html#s3.7
This will ensure that your nice icon shows up in most menus.

Thanks for taking the time to deal with this, and thanks for all the effort you
have put in to maintaining great free software.

Bug#299414: bristol: Package lacks Menu file

2005-03-13 Thread tim hall
Package: bristol
Version: 0.9.1-11
Severity: wishlist

Wow, I never realised quite how many packages you maintained. Please excuse the
spamminess of all this, There is a purpose in all this. :-)

I notice that bristol lacks a menu file and an icon. For the Debian package
please could you create a 32x32 pixel XPM in /usr/share/pixmaps/bristol.xpm and
create the file /usr/lib/menu/bristol which might look something like this:

?package(bristol):needs="x11" section="Apps/Sound" \
  title="Bristol synth" command="/usr/bin/bristol" \
  icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/bristol.xpm"

Bug#280701: Bug #280701 - uptimed: Fails to email when passing top ten record runtimes

Hello,

With uptimed-0.3.3-2, this change seems te be incorporated all the same.

In a quick test with a modified records file to set an uptime record soon,
everything worked just well.

So should this bug perhaps be closed now?

(Might #274635 be somehow related? It seems the MAIL_MINIMUM_POSITION
support was added after woody; the config var is not present on that
woody uptimed.conf)

Regards, Fabian

Yes, it doesn't freeze then, after either rmmod snd-seq-midi or renaming
/dev/sequencer.

pmidi -l shows one MIDI port at 64:0, but as far as I understand it that's
for the external hardware port and the driver doesn't support MIDI synthesis.

Bug#296225: they're part of the std target

2005-03-13 Thread Bdale Garbee
tag 296225 +wontfix
tag 296296 +wontfix
thanks

The 'null' and 'zero' devices are currently created by the 'std' target.

I have no particular interest in exposing these as additional direct targets
in the current makedev code, since it will happen automatically when I move
to the table-drive version after sarge release.

Tagging these wontfix to push them out of the way, not closing since it makes
more sense to me to leave them open until the new makedev is uploaded.

Bug#254565: Two S3 hardware mouse cursors -- fixed in X.org

2005-03-13 Thread Marius Gedminas
I also have a T23 laptop with S3 SuperSavage IX/C, and I can confirm
this bug. When the cursor changes from a monochrome one to a colourful
one, the monochrome one doesn't go away. The easiest way to trigger
that is to move around a window in metacity, as gtk2-engines-industrial
has (or used to have) a monochrome "plus" cursor, while others are ARGB.

Now the interesting bit: this bug does not appear in X.org 6.8.2. I
assume it got fixed, so it's just a matter of finding and backporting
the right patch.

I first saw this bug in the middle of January 2005, when I switched from
Debian unstable to Ubuntu Warty. I upgraded to Hoary (which had X.org)
after a few days, and the bug disappeared. I never saw this bug in Debian,
but it is entirely possible that I had disabled hardware cursor in my
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 ages ago, and then forgotten all about it.

HTH,
Marius Gedminas

have any pointers for me on this one as well, I'd really appreciate it.

If you estimate the above error is due to buggy upstream code, I'll go
ask on the relevant (videolan?) mailing list.

Bug#299320: debian-edu-config: Its for localization-config

2005-03-13 Thread Finn-Arne Johansen
Package: debian-edu-config
Version: 0.397+svn2731
Followup-For: Bug #299320

when set up for norwegian, localization-config adds these lines to
/etc/mozilla/prefs.:
 pref("intl.accept_languages", "no,en")
 pref("general.useragent.locale", "no")

Now with these two in place, the settings in this file is neglected,
but when I comment them out, the rest is included in the settings.

Bug#299335: please remove the lecture from sudo's first invocation or provide an option

This can already be handled in the sudoers file, from 'man sudoers':

lecture This option controls when a short lecture will be printed
along with the password prompt. It has the following pos-
   sible values:

   never Never lecture the user.

onceOnly lecture the user the first time they run sudo.

   always Always lecture the user.

If no value is specified, a value of once is implied.
Negating the option results in a value of never being used.
   The default value is once.

Is that sufficient?

Bug#299426: Upstream URL outdated

2005-03-13 Thread Jeroen van Wolffelaar
Package: gjdoc
Version: 0.7.2-2
Severity: normal

The copyright file should refer to the upstream location/website where
to retrieve upstream versions. However, you refer to
http://savannah.gnu.org/cvs/?group=cp-tools, which is disabled. When
searching for the project, it seems that this project has been merged
with classpath. On http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/classpath/ however, the
latest upstream version is 0.7.1. Where can users download 0.7.2, or
even 0.7.3?

I will not sponsor a new upstream version if upstream doesn't provide
that version yet. Also, you might want to add a watch file for this
upstream location for convenience of QA scripts and the like.

Hmm, I have an idea what could be the cause for the segfaults:
As you can see, they happen in the glib code, not in scorched3d.
ldd /usr/games/scorched3d shows that it is linked against libglib2.0
and libgtk1.2 while the used wx library (libwxgtk-2.4) is linked against
libglib1.2 and libgtk1.2. Perhaps the conflicting libraries cause
the segfaults?

On PPC where the program doesn't segfault, scorched3d is linked against
libglib1.2, not 2.0. However, I can't see how you have to influence the
build process to ensure a certain libglib version ...

Bug#299430: openoffice.org: Please add XML catalog with OO.o DTDs

2005-03-13 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1.1.2dfsg1-3
Severity: wishlist

I was looking for an OpenOffice.org entries the XML Catalog, and when
almost giving up, I was fortunate to bump into Rene Engelhard on
#openoffice.org. We discussed a bit there, but I'm submitting this
report to add a more permanent record of our findings.

XML catalogs are important to allow other applications to use the DTDs
to validate resources. For that reason, it is rather important for
openoffice.org debs to add its DTDs to the Debian XML Catalogs.

The XML catalogs in Debian are governed by a policy now in drafting:
http://debian-xml-sgml.alioth.debian.org/xml-policy/

Apparently, there is a script to add catalogs called
update-xmlcatalog, however, this should not be used in
packaging. Rather, dh_installxmlcatalogs should be used.

However, it needs a local catalog.xml file to do its thing. The local
catalog.xml is something that references the DTD of the package in
question. There is an example in the Policy, Example 3.6. I can't
find an official catalog.xml for OO.o. However, I find some examples
by others, see e.g.
http://search.cpan.org/src/MSERGEANT/Apache-AxKit-Provider-OpenOffice-1.02/CATALOGS
and his concrete example:
http://search.cpan.org/src/MSERGEANT/Apache-AxKit-Provider-OpenOffice-1.02/dtds/catalog.xml

The Apache Lenya project seems to have similar, simple example:
http://lenya.apache.org/1_2_x/components/authoring/openoffice.html#XML+Catalog

So, the catalog.xml seems to be rather simple.

However, we see that the
/usr/lib/openoffice/share/dtd/officedocument/1_0 directory has a lot
of *.mod files, and that the above mentioned DocBook example has
entries like that. Whether these are optional or what role they play
is not clear to us.

What is clear, however, that the package should add a package-specific
file to /etc/xml/ too.

Finally, the policy notes that "Most XML DTDs should be registered in
both XML and SGML catalog systems."

BTW, perhaps this should be split off into a separate .deb, so that it
can be installed independently, for example on a server without X? Not
very important, but a sub-wish... :-)

Yup, that was about it, I think... :-)

Thanks for the attention!

Cheers,

Kjetil

Bug#299330: hdparm exits when software raid isn't synced, seems to be intended

Thanks for the patch!

No sweat - I have tried to clean it up and reorganize it a little, to
make it easier to find stuff in it.

> # default settings for hdparm
> # this file is sourced from /etc/init.d/hdparm
>
> # uncomment this if you really want to start hdparm even if md is not ok
> #
> #DIRTYRAID=OK

I don't think this is something that you want to set on a permanent
basis - hdparm should only be run on a dirty array if you have thought
about it ahead of time, and decided to go ahead.

> #
> DISC=
> DEFAULT=
> OPTIONS=
> DEF_QUIET=
> OPT_QUIET=

These aren't really meant to be set directly - they are set to null
initially just to make sure that they aren't accidentally imported from
the environment.

> ! if ! [[ "$raidstat" == 'OK' || "$DIRTYRAID" == 'OK' ]]; then
> report_error "RAID status not OK. Exiting."
> exit 0
> fi

The '==' construct (as opposed to just '=' ) is not POSIX, and a number
of shells choke on it. Just pointing it out - the script in general is
not completely POSIX compliant, although I am slowly getting it closer.

So:

The only good argument to putting the bypass option directly into the
init script via a defaults/ file that I can see would be if hdparm could
then be run _before_ the array starts to rebuild. Unfortunately, array
rebuilding starts even before /etc/rcS/07, so we buy nothing and gain
the potential to really screw things up:(.

I think the best solution here is to evalutate an environment variable
(I have arbitrarily chosen FORCE_RUN just now) so the admin can bypass
the simple-minded safety checks (and in this implementation, it skips
even the evaluation of the kernel command line). This means running
the init script by hand after boot up, but I think forcing this is OK,
as it's not something that (IMHO, at least) should be encouraged to
happen non-interactively.

I have also documented this in README.Debian, as well as the safety
checks themselves.

Does this seem sufficient to allow you to do what you need to do?

Bug#299431: gemdropx: won't quit when "x'ed out"

2005-03-13 Thread David Liontooth
Package: gemdropx
Version: 0.9-1
Severity: minor

A fun game! It quits fine on ESC, but won't quit when I click on the x in the
window decoration.
Call me a naive user -- I expect to be able to get out that way. I had to use a
skull-n-bones
before I realized good old ESC works.

Is this a general problem -- I mean, apps not written for gtk aren't designed
to quit by
being "x'ed out"? Also it won't quit from the panel tab either. It would be
nice to have
the app integrated sufficiently into the gui to make these work.

Just to confirm, did you run the:

This package doesn't do this for you. If someone has some good ideas how
to do this in a clean Debian way, please let me know.

This is intended, but badly documented, behaviour. We don't *want*
java-package to touch those files at install time, unfortunately, the
upstream scripts unconditionally try to do so.

Sorry to hear the printer is not working well. As often happens in
these matters, "it works for me". The two images appear on my printed
page in the same proportions that they appear on screen.

Possibly, it's happening because your printer has specialised
requirements for its printing resolution. You could try different dpi
settings (answering the question given by "dpkg-reconfigure
xprt-common") Or make the settings by hand
in /etc/Xprint/C/print/attributes/document. The default is 600 dpi. The
different behaviour vertically from horizontally is a worry, however,
and I'm not sure that Xprint can handle settings like "1200x600".

This should be OK, I think.

What happens if you send that postscript file to the printer (lpr
file.ps) ?

Have you setup up the specific postscript definition file (ppd) in cups
required for your printer? e.g.grabbing one from LinuxPrinting.org (see
http://linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi), placing it
in /usr/share/cups/model/ and configuring CUPS to use it.

It has been over a month and nobody has indicated interest. Since
these packages have never been part of a stable release, I think
removing them would make sense. Is it okay with you to go ahead with

Bug#293864: Orphaning three packages

2005-03-13 Thread Neil McGovern
Hi all,

I'm orphaning three packages:
hawhaw-doc - the documentation for HAWHAW and HAWXY
hawxy - a script that makes PHP-enabled webservers to HAWHAW proxies
libphp-hawhaw - a PHP toolkit to create universal mobile applications

RFAs have been filed for all of them.

There's new upstream available, but it may be quite hard to package
hawhaw-doc.

If no one wants them, I'll ask for their removal.

Regards,
Neil McGovern

Personally I'd prefer not to use the set -e.
It is included because the Debian patch sets included it.

At first glance it appears this is may be a case where we need to
explicitly turn this of to get the required behaviour.

totem-video-thumbnailer is missing a manpage. I wrote a smallish one for
it, that gives a little more information than is in totem's usage
statement. Better than nothing :)

convert the .pod file with:

License is "GPLv2 or later". Obviously, you're free to make any changes you

=head1 DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the B command. This
manual page was written for the Debian Project because the original program
does not have a manual page.

B is used internally by GNOME applications such as
B to generate PNG thumbnails of video files. While it is possible to
invoke it manually, it is usually done automatically by B.

=over 8

=item B

The input filename. This can be in any format that B can play.

=item B

The output filename, output in PNG format.

=item B

Options to be passed to the backend (i.e. B or B).

Bug#298260: installation-reports

2005-03-13 Thread KParkansky

Further information on this bug.

The installer system hang was originally encountered with
the HP NetRAID controller.

I also tried the following other models of this controller and
experienced the same system hang with both of them:

NetRAID 1Si - HP Part No. D2140-63004
NetRAID 1M - HP Part No. P3410-60001

I also tried an Adaptec 2940 (non-RAID) adapter and with
it the installer ran just fine.  Based on this, I reinstalled the
HP NetRAID (original) controller and changed the configuration
so that each hard-drive was a logical drive (no RAID 1 or 5)
to simulate the non-RAID configuration of the 2940.  Even
with this simplified configuration the installer still hung.

2005-03-13 Thread Mariano Alvira
Package: xterm
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10

I'd like an option for xterm to use a underline cursor instead of the
block.

The attached patch is included as proof-of-concept and is not intended
for actual use.

The handling of this has gotten smarter in 5.9 (it is only supposed to
output the warning if you explicitly ask for multcount information).
Can you confirm that this is fixed?

Bug#299440: hdparm init script and conf file difficult to understand

2005-03-13 Thread David Berg
Package: hdparm
Version: 5.9-3
Severity: minor

I have added some comments to /etc/init.d/hdparm as well as fixed some
indenting problems that made it difficult for me to understand how the
script was working. I thought I'd share them. I also made some
comments in the /etc/hdparm.conf file describing a bit more on how it
is supposed to be organized and how the init script reads it.

I noticed that the set_option() routine placed a -q after every
argument if 'quiet' was in the conf file. I removed the lines that
caused this and instead added $[OPT,DEF]_QUIET to the final command
line.

The affected files are attached.

Even with some options specified it only shows the usage screen.
This is on an Apple PowerBook G4.

libxosd2 is working ok, since I can use it via the python-osd package.

I additionally tested osdsh 0.7.0-5 on my second computer -i686,Debian3.1- via
ssh with X11-forwarding. There it worked fine and even drew the osdctl-message
I gave it on my local screen.

For any additional information you need, just tell me how to get it :-)

Bug#299441: screen artifacts / widgets not rendering

2005-03-13 Thread Matthew Hawkins
Package: blender
Version: 2.36-1
Severity: grave

Bugs 239184 and 291888 seem to refer to an abhorrent behaviour which I
also witness - namely that none of the widgets render correctly or at
all. I'm setting the severity high as it does render the thing
unusable.

I am running an X.org server w/DRI enabled, and the workaround in
bug 239184 does resolve the problem for me. ie, launching like so:

$ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 blender

gives me a useable interface again. This should perhaps be mentioned in
a README.Debian or somesuch. I have a Matrox G450 and am using XFCE 4.2
(sometimes WM/DE's matter ;). I'm using the upstream X.org and
dri.sf.net drivers from a package supplied here:

deb http://www.nixnuts.net/files/ ./
deb-src http://www.nixnuts.net/files/ ./

Cheers,

I notice that your application lacks an icon. For the Debian package please
could you create a 32x32 pixel XPM in /usr/share/pixmaps/ripperx.xpm and
reference it from /usr/lib/menu/ripperx by adding this:
icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/ripperx.xpm"

Thanks for taking the time to deal with this, and thanks for all the effort you

That looks perfectly reasonable. I can't see any issues with the parameters

Throw the attached single-line patch in and rebuild. An extra debug line

Thanks a lot for doing this! I have been meaning to clean things up, as
much of it is patched in stuff that has slowly accumulated without being
properly documented or merged stylistically.

The reason set_option adds a -q after each option is that this is
apparently the only way to suppress output for multiple options passed
on the same command line. Including it only once suppresses only the
first operation (this is likely a bug with upstream, but since it easy
to work around, I have never bothered).

Thanks again,

currently in unstable. I couldn't edit the wiki until I changed the last
line of debian-config.php to

if (!defined('SCRIPT_NAME')) define('SCRIPT_NAME', '/phpwiki/index.php');

It appears to need the file name of the script included in the path.

If you need more details, let me know.

Bug#299242: ITP: ha-prosper -- improved LaTeX class for writing transparencies

2005-03-13 Thread Andreas Tille
On Sun, 13 Mar 2005, Michael Prokop wrote:
I do know many people who are used to ha-prosper and haven't

As I said - there is a compatibility mode - but I did not tested it yet.
ha-prosper needs less space than latex-beamer (not taking care of
dependencies but ratio should be equalent):
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ # apt-cache show ha-prosper | grep Installed-Size
Installed-Size: 516
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ # apt-cache show latex-beamer | grep Installed-Size
Installed-Size: 3364
Huh, what's this for an argument?
I guess today we do not really have to care for this and as I said, the
bigger size has its reasons ...
And TeXciting might never be released, quoting Hendri - the author
of ha-prosper:
| I have reconsidered whether it will be possible
| to finish this project. Taking into account also
| the work that I'm doing on other packages and
| my involvement in LaTeX3, I conclude that it will

See his posting on ha-prosper-mailinglist for more details:
http://listserv.surfnet.nl/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind0503&L=ha-prosper&F=&S=&P=777
So this is no problem because we have latex-beamer. BTW, I guess TeXciting
would have a similar size relation as you mentioned above and we would have
to keep ha-prosper anyway according to your reasoning.
So in my opinion it would be useful to provide a debian package of
ha-prosper.
In the end it is the business of people who are maintaining the package and
I really hope that they will do a good job in maintaining orphaned software.
So I can not keep you away from maintaining ha-prosper but my advise as
somebody who had thought about this on my own and knowing that you have
also to maintain a further package as dependency would be: Just have a
look at latex-beamer's compatibility mode and think twice about it if is
worth the effort.
Kind regards
Andreas.

Bug#299278: French programs translation

Well, this may be true in general but more than one release of pdbv
was made only for i18n purpose. That said, indeed, releases are made
only if there's noticeable changes made.

> Now, for the new version translation :

Hum, this is error is "fatale" (deadly?) only because of -c
usage. Anyway, I missed that duplicated %s in the string. Thanks.

> -it is incomplete: msgfmt -o /dev/null -c --statistics fr_FR.po 101

That's what I have in the CVS now that I fixed the issue mentioned
just before:

msgfmt -o /dev/null -c --statistics fr_FR.po
104 messages traduits.

> -it is wrongly named : you should use fr.po rather than fr_FR.po and
>I don't really understand why it was renamed that way as former
>versions were correct in that matter

Well, fr_FR is supposed to be french french, and using fr.po would
close the door to fr_CA or whatever (even if there are little chances
that someone spend time for do these translations).

In many packages packages got such names.

In think we switched to such name after:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=200861

But if you can point me to a policy page saying it should be called
fr.po and not fr_FR.po, there would be no problem in changing this
onemore time.

Well, I'm quite confident in my understanding of french typography
rules (in particular, I doubt someone would be able to catch
errouneous ponctuation in what I write in French - that's the kind of
mistakes I simply do not do, unlike grammar mistakes and alike).

If there's first person usage, I think a bug should be posted against
the whole package (unless this first person usage exists only in the
translation). Where did you find it?

About superutilisateur instead of "root user", why not. But it would
be more precisely a translation of superuser... because in any cases,
the root user is the root user, called root in French...
Anyway, I updated the string to catch this suggestions.

About bug, I do not really want to translate it "bogue" (ugly and
ununderstandable for a french, unless he guess from what he knows of
the similar english word - that clearly defeats translation purpose)
but anomalie. And there are already in debian packages that use this
translation (like pan).

I'm checking a diff with your version to find others changes (but as
said, I cannot applies just as it it, as it appears that we are not
working on the same version, considering the number of translated
strings you have in yours).

Thanks,

OK, you are right. Bypassing this should only be possible by
running /etc/init.d/hdparm interactively, but it needs to be possible.

Yes. Some notification to root would be helpful. Perhaps some mail to root or
something logcheck takes note of if hdpams are not set.

Ralf

Bug#299278: French programs translation

2005-03-13 Thread Mathieu Roy

Hello,

1. I wont apply the change

"Site internet :" --> "Site Internet :"

While in English it is very common to capitalize several words, in
French it is an absolute no go - only the first word of a sentence
should ever be capitalize, and when people do otherwise, they are just
following english trends.
I guess the Académie would confirm that - my source is a speech
given by a teacher a while ago, when I was doing my MA in History,
about all this little mistakes they often found in student works.

2.
msgstr "La dernière mise-à-jour fût effectuée en %s."
  -->
msgstr "La dernière mise-à-jour a été effectuée en %s."

I have nothing against applying this change but what makes the first
translation wrong?

3.
msgstr " %"
  -->
msgstr "%"

I'm 99% this change is buggy. Units are always separated by a space in
French.

English -> French:

  10MB -> 10 Mo
   99% -> 99 %

(Well, indeed, the msgstr should probably be "%s %", using sprintf)

The current version is in

Thanks for your contribution,

Regards,

That solved the ipw2100 problem but ALSA seems broken now... I've read I

Bug#299446: RFH: vim -- Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor

2005-03-13 Thread Norbert Tretkowski
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm looking for someone who wants to co-maintain vim, since I realized
that I'm currently unable to take care of the package alone. There are
a lot of open bugs that should be fixed, and there's also the upcoming
vim 7.0 package which is a complete rewrite of the packaging. It
should be easy to work on the package together, there's a project on
alioth using subversion already.

Drop me a mail if you're interested.

The package description is:
Vim is an almost compatible version of the UNIX editor Vi. Many new
features have been added: multi level undo, syntax highlighting,
command line history, on-line help, filename completion, block operations,
 folding, Unicode support, etc.

Bug#253984: Change the request of debian-i18n-bidi to debian-l10n-arabic

2005-03-13 Thread Christian Perrier
retitle 253984 Please create a debian-l10n-arabic mailing list
thanks

(this is about a request to create a mailing list dedicated to Arabic
localization on Debian mailing list servers. People who want to
support it, please do so by sending a mail to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] if you are *really* interested in
it...:-)))

Do *not* answer to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

After some more thinking, I propose changing the request I originally
made, for a debian-i18n-bidi list to debian-l10n-arabic.

Indeed, the need is first for a mailing list dedicated to Arabic
localization. There is an emerging interest for it, with people from
Arabeyes working on this translation for Debian Installer, with an
early work on the web site translation and so on.

Package: lists.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

This is a request for the creation of the debian-l10n-arabic mailing list.

Name: debian-l10n-arabic

Rationale:

Arabic localization of free software is becoming now quite common and
several efforts are currently made to have Arabic localization in Debian.

Improvements in text libraries have for instance made possible to
have the Debian Installer translated into right-to-left languages, and
especially Arabic.

Having a mailing list dedicated to the support of this language will help
translators and developers for working on these issues.

Short description:

documentation to the Arabic language.

Language used on this list: English (Arabic accepted).

Bug#262283: Amaya 9.1 released, please update package

2005-03-13 Thread Erich Schubert
Hi,
looks like Amaya 9.1 was released, with lots of user interface
improvements (seems to be GTK2 now).
I'd really like to see the new user interface...
And maybe the german translation is now not missing complete strings -
the version in Debian has serious bugs in the german translation (empty
menu entrys; looks like the "OK" string for dialog boxes is empty,
too... the default button is thus like 5 pixels wide...)

Please update the package.

Bug#299278: pdbv: [INTL:fr] French program translation

2005-03-13 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: pdbv
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch l10n

Please find attached the french translation of this package's
programs, proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list
contributors.

This file should be put as "fr.po" in the appropriate po/
directory. If this package is not a native Debian package, please
don't forget to forward this translation to the upstream maintainer.

Depending on the version of the build tools or the build process used
in the software, you may have to update the LINGUAS variable in the
configure scripts in case the french translation is a *new*
translation for this software/package.

Bug#299279: xmorph: Please consider re-packaging this package as a non native Debian package

2005-03-13 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: xmorph
Severity: normal

As far as I can see, xmorph is not really a Debian-specific package and one
could thus consider there is no need to have it packaged as a native Debian
package.

>From reading the various doc files, I understand that the maintainer is a
co-author of the upstream software, but also that the software is also
developed outside Debian.

So, is there really a reason for having it in the native Debian packages list?

What brings me to this topic is localization. I usually recommend
translators who are seeking for work to do to focus on Debian native package
as these software have probably no chance to be translated outside Debian
and are often Debian-specific software.

So, Debian native packages indeed are prioritized with regard to l10nand
we of course want to prioritize what really needs to be.

Many thanks in advance for taking care of answering this concern.

Bug#290977: xfce4.2

2005-03-13 Thread Rimas Kudelis
Hi,
AFAIK, next week, Xfce 4.2.1 will be released, and 4.2.0 hasn't still
hit even experimental... Shame! :D
I cannot provide any feedback for the packages from
http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4/, however, i've been using similar
packages for sarge from http://www.os-works.com/debian/ on Ubuntu, and
they work nicely. Xfce4.2 is currently my favourite DE.
Would anyone please upload 4.2.(0|1) to at least experimental (I'd
love to see them in unstable though). I would test them on my sid box
at work. Maybe, others would do that too.
Thanks
Rimas "RQ"

2005-03-13 Thread David Schmitt
Package: gjdoc
Version: 0.7.2-1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi!

There is a typo in gjdoc.sh.in: The jars are installed to
/usr/share/java/, not /usr/share/java/ext/. Due to this gjdoc fails to
run reproducably.

The (trivial) patch is attached.

Regards, David

Bug#299281: SANED daemon: strange behaviour when launching saned without root access

You don't need that on the client. (/etc/sane.d/net.conf is the config
file you're looking for)

OK, so, here's the plan for the resolution of this bug :

1/ READ /usr/share/doc/libsane/README.Debian.gz

You scanner seems to be using SCSI over parallel port and the ppscsi
module; so it basically works like a SCSI scanner. Right ?

The solution should be in the README. Tell me how it goes.

Next time, please use reportbug, as I'd like to know which kernel
version you're using.

. o O (I *really* need to add that reportbug script to the package)

I can still reproduce this with mozilla from unstable (mozilla-browser
2:1.7.5-1).

If I configure apache to return content-type text/plan for .css files
(comment out the css entry in /etc/apache/mime.types):

% wget --proxy=off -d http://www/~arthur/default.css
[...]
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
[...]

Mozilla renders the page as if the stylesheet was not specified. The
stylesheet was included as:

in the html page. If the webserver returns the css file as text/css the
stylesheet is correctly used for rendering.

(this test was done on an internal test server)

Enabled bitmap fonts by default via the dpkg-reconfigure and things are
OK again. However, the only difference I can see before/after the
upgrade is the symlink change from

 30-debconf-no-bitmaps.conf -> /etc/fonts/conf.d/no-bitmaps.conf

to

30-debconf-yes-bitmaps.conf -> /etc/fonts/conf.d/yes-bitmaps.conf

All the other files remain identical in config in content.

Ho-hum. Feel free to close the bug upgrade and many thanks for
responding to quickly.

Neil

Bug#299286: gpsd heavily dependent od /etc/protocols

2005-03-13 Thread Marcel Hecko
Package: gpsd
Version: 2.13-1
Severity: normal

Hello,
gpsd is heavily dependent on /etc/protocols file. If that one does not
exist GPSD will not start and will not produce adequate error to correct
the missing file without using strace.

It would be fine if this is noted during the installation of deb
package.

Example:
WarPad:~# gpsd -D1000

gpsd: Can't get "tcp" protocol entry.
