Bug#566009: Missing level 3 key selection and inserting default in dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
On Thu, Jan 21, 2010 at 12:32:17PM +0100, GW wrote: > 3. Key to function as AltGr: No AltGr key This question is the question about lv3 (lv3 is only a technical jargon). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AltGr_key The configurator of console-setup puts in /etc/default/keyboard the option lv3:ralt_alt in order to annulate the setting about AltGr in the keyboard layout. I didn't know that lv3:ralt_alt doesn't combine well options giving other meaning of the right Alt key (compose in your case) and was is the cause of the bug. Bug#352758: -- installation: "etch" installer fails to detect/configure PC card NIC - FIXED

So, this bug is fixed and should be closed. This leaves me with the question, if the firmware files from the firmware-linux-free package could be contained in the installer isos. I will file a new bug on this. Bug#566561: d-i: please provide free firmware files in the installer isos
Package: debian-installer Severity: wishlist The package firmware-linux-free contains several firmware files beeing DFSG free. Please bring this firmware into the debian-installer isos. This would give the possibility of using the corresponding devices without any special action. (The installer has everything integrated now to detect, that such firmware is needed, so the firmware gets loaded automatically, if available). And this would require only very little disc space. Bug#566561: d-i: please provide free firmware files in the installer isos
Holger Wansing wrote: > The package firmware-linux-free contains several firmware files > beeing DFSG free. The only ones relevant for the installer are a few for old PCMCIA network cards. > Please bring this firmware into the debian-installer isos. This firmware could be included in the d-i initrd images (which are mostly not isos), if a udeb were produced containing it. No such udeb exists currently. It would make sense to make one if the firmware were for more commonly used hardware. The simplest thing to do seems to be to add firmware-linux-free to debian-cd's list of firmware packages, then it will be available in the same firmware tarball as the other, non-free firmware. -- see shy jo signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Spam cleaning in list archives: getting closer and closer
> We're now quite close to say "we went through the entire archive of > debian-boot and cleaned it from spam". Stefano Canepa and a few others pushed this quite strongly during last week, so: The remaining months, that should be targeted by anybody but me, Frans Pop, Holger Wansing and Lee Winter, are: * October 2000 to February 2002 ...and that's all. Nearly 500 spams were nominated this past week and all of them were spams! I just finished reviewing them, so it just needs 2 other reviewers for us to bump our counter from 4552 removed posts to more than 5000 on next Sunday...
