I am already hacking on putting up Debconf18 registration, sponsors
release irrespective of whether we get the media partner tag or not.
Being a media partner would be a prestige for itsfoss team and would
allow me/us to cover and share in far more detail how companies
benefit from foss technologies and vice-versa thus enabling the
general public, potential budding developers from understanding the
various opportunities in free software world. I believe that to be a
win-win situation for all parties involved.

This was a persistent question which was also raised during a recent
foss event which I attended and was part of
https://foss.coep.org.in/drupal7/index.php

In fact itsfoss.com was perhaps one of the first media outlets in
sharing Google's move to Debian from Ubuntu
https://itsfoss.com/goobuntu-glinux-google/ where I have just surmised
some of the reasons for the change, all educated guesses of course.

Looking forward to know more.

The campus our venue is in is the left one. In the campus diagram, there
are 3 spots shown in red, which are smoking areas. The rightmost one is the
parking lot of our venue (MIRC building), and the leftmost one is closer to
the dormitory building where we have our on-site accommodation (Student
Dorm 12). The middle one is closer to the library building.

Thank you for explaining.

I guess I will bring nicotin blisters and/or ecigarettes or spent some
nice times on a beach somewhere else and save a thousand euros. Not sure
yet.

Ok, having been explicitly pointed to, I guess I must answer ;-)

I don't have much of a clue of what being a "media partner" really
entails. I guess it depends on the type of coverage itsfoss.com
wants. I guess a good way to find out what would this mean for you is
to talk with other people who have been -officially or not, both from
the media outlet in question and from Debian- in a similar position;
Antoine Beaupré is one of them, as he covered DC17 for LWN.

I believe we will all be happy if DebConf is covered in more
media. What does itsfoss want from you besides a couple of articles?
What are they giving you or Debian? What are they expecting to get
back? Do they need to be advertised in any way in connection to us?

draft blogpost about DebConf18 bursaries deadline approaching

2018-04-11 Thread Laura Arjona Reina
Hello debconf and publicity team,

better late than never, I've drafted a blogpost about DebConf18
bursaries deadline approaching, in a similar fashion as the one
published last year.
Please have a look and comment or commit improvements:

see online:
https://bits.debian.org/drafts/dc18-bursaries.html

edit the source:
https://salsa.debian.org/publicity-team/bits/blob/master/content/2018/dc18-bursaries.md

My plan would be to publish it on Thursday 12 April 2018 around 09:00
UTC or so (unless you say other thing).

Best regards
