Umh... I understand they want to prepare the closest possible amount
of food. But given (right?) we are eating in a buffet style, getting
the exact numbers is not only impossible but will also result in no
real difference. I'd like them to agree we cannot give a maybe better
than 10% (about 20 people) error margin. Just as we cannot say that
most people will eat only one course or stand up to get their food
three times.

[Debconf-team] change of video licence

2011-07-17 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi,

in previous years we released the videos under the 'DebConf video licence'
which is available here:
http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/LICENCE'

Then we got a request to relicence the video from Eben Moglens talk at
DebConf10 about the freedom box under CC-BY-SA
(see http://lists.debconf.org/lurker/message/20110317.185848.a8b8916c.en.html
and previous mails to this thread) and we did so.

Judith suggested to use a dual licence for our videos in future:
http://lists.debconf.org/lurker/message/20110419.231451.a95936fb.en.html
which seems like a useful thing to me.

What do you think?

cheers,
Holger

[Debconf-team] Direct transport from Zagreb airport to main bus station

2011-07-17 Thread Vedran Omeragic

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,
As a great deal of you will be arriving at Zagreb airport, you should
know following:

* Direct bus line from airport to main bus station

Yes, there is a company that operates a direct line between these two
locations. You can find their schedule here:
http://www.plesoprijevoz.hr/schedulezg.htm

* From main bus station in Zagreb to Banja Luka bus station

There are several buses a day in both directions. On the following
site you can find out at what time are they leaving for Banja Luka:
http://www.akz.hr/EN/voznired.aspx
All you have to type is BANJA LUKA in _To_ field and it will show you
the schedule for that day. The optional _Days to show_ field will show
you schedule for the following day(s), depending on the number you enter.

* Costs
Bus from ZG airport to bus station is 30 Croatian Kunas [~4?]
Bus from ZG bus station to BL bus station is 140 [~19?] (varies from
company to company, but this is the average price)
[ 1.00 ? = 7.42769 HRK ] * according to
http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert/?Amount=1&From=EUR&To=HRK

If you're worried about currency and exchange, don't be. There is
exchange office and ATM inside the ZG airport.

* Stuck at airport
Waiting for a bus? Bored? Well, airport facilities include Duty-Free,
Coffee shop, snack bars, Vip lounge, Business lounge, Souvenir Shops,
Restaurant, Money exchange office, ATM, Bank. It's no luxury, but hey,
might as well relax while waiting :)

For more travel information, there's a huge info on wiki at:

See you all in days to come!

Might be a good idea. However, I feel I need to ask: Why not simply move
to cc-by-sa and 'forget' about the debconf-video license? Or are the two
incompatible?

Guess, no one is really able to tell you, unless he's a lawyer.
This is exactly the problem with cc licenses.
They pretend to be easily understandable,
and hide ugly huge lawyerreadable texts, that are the actual licenses.
These nice pictures just mislead and are juridical void.

The debconf-video license is a modifed MIT license,
more exactly: The word "software" ist replaced by the word "work".
So it can be regarded as nearly the same thing,

[Debconf-team] meetings tomorrow

2011-07-17 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi,

we'll meet tomorrow

- at 11oo in Banski Dvor to have a orga team meeting,
- at 12oo in Banski Dvor to have a video team meeting,
- at around 13oo somewhere to meet with Diva people.

I suggest to have the 11oo meeting in the big auditorium and to have the 12oo
meeting in the small auditorium (so the video team meeting can start at 12oo
even if the orga team meeting is still running), but this might be changed by
reality. (I personally will do video meeting at 12oo.)

I suspect (or hope) the diva meeting will be at MrBrownBlack and that 13oo
will be somewhat met, but that "around 13oo" is the only info they gave Adnan.
I hope there will be more info at the 11oo meeting.

cheers,

In that case, the question is whether we want copyleft or not. If we don't, we
could consider using CC-BY-3.0 (without -SA) or keep it as a dual-license. If
people don't prefer the 2-clause BSD to the CC-BY-3.0 license for these video's
I'd suggest just using CC-BY-3.0 by itself. It is explicitly usable in
CC-BY-SA-3.0 works.

If we do want to insist on copyleft, we really ought to switch to CC-BY-SA-3.0
alone since the debconf video license isn't.

My suggestion is just CC-BY-3.0 (no -SA) by itself.
