In fact https://debconf18.debconf.org/schedule should have a link at the
top noting there is also even DebCamp starting at 7/21!
Yes it is noted elsewhere but it should be noted here too.

Yes, depending how much time immigration takes. There's some long queues
sometimes.
Your luggage should get out quickly.

Easycards are mostly used in buses, trains and convenience stores.
You can buy one at 7-11 or Familymart, maybe even one with a cute design.
The minimum starting deposit is NT$ 100 (or in other words 100 TWD).

You plan to do airport->HSR->taxi? Thats probably slower and as expensive as
doing taxi all the way.

ZERO. In Taiwan you tip nobody, ask for a discount instead! :)

I'll probably stay in the Chief Hotel, which is much cheaper.

Only drawback: Breakfast by McDonalds, but one can ignore it.

Honestly, I would prefer McDonald's over most hotel breakfasts in Taiwan
(unless you stay at 4 star or higher) or just go out
Breakfast is extremely cost-optimized in most 2/3 star hotels here...
Maybe you get some dry toast with strawberry jam in tiny plastic packs.
And a bit of Chinese style "hot breakfast"

McDonalds now has the "Mega McMuffin" for breakfast and an website+app (even in
English) where you could order it! ;-)
https://www.mcdelivery.com.tw/tw/browse/menu.html?daypartId=46&catId=98&locale=en
Alternatively, you can try some Taiwanese break fast stalls (that only pop up
in the morning) near the school Guangfu Road.
There's also a great Japanese restaurant 十六區壽司屋 just near your hotel (only for
dinner though). ;-)
Don't worry you don't have to starve in Taiwan!

Hello,
I use the app Happycow to find vegetarian places in Hsinchu.
I had very good experience in Taipei with buffet vegetarian dishes, price

Any experience in Hsinchu?

can get at home. It also does not smell.
I will take whey protein with me because it is expensive in Taiwan. But it is

Dear orga team,

I know it's hot and humid outside, as we can see the weather report on

It's said that it may be 15 or 20 degree centigrade, if so I need to

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't think heavy coat is necessary by my experience when visiting
NCTU last week. There is an energy save policy after all.

For accommodation, we will have air conditioner card and you can decide

Right. My experience was that there is no air-con in the most of the public
area.
And probably set as 27-28C in conference rooms and meeting rooms.
Recommend to bring your sandals with lightweight clothing.
Cotton won't work so well here as the humidity is high.
You will probably be wet all the time with cotton.

Hi,

maintainers should be fine too. Our criteria is that you need to send your
request from @debian.org!

Thanks,
Thomas

Only Debian Project members (aka DDs) get an @debian.org address, DMs
(Debian Maintainers) are not Debian Project members, only Debian
contributors and Debian community members. It would be nice to extend
the Gandi offer to all Debian contributors:

that's an interesting offer I gladly would use, thanks for providing.
So we just need to come together on the airport on some dedicated
meeting point?

Norbert, do you arrive on Saturday or Sunday? As I read your email from
list you wrote about Saturday. Is the hotel doing such a shuttle then
also on Sunday?

@Zlatan
I will wear some random DC t-shirt from one of the previous conferences.
My mobile number can be found in the LDAP db, or feel free to contact me
privately by email to share details.

I asked via booking.com, after two confirmations of time and flight
number they told me they will wait in the arrival lobby. Just contact
the hotel directly. It is a taxi service, I don't think a shuttle bus.
