Everything I say here should be in that email. > Seems like get a taxi to UCT Upper Campus and then walk to the > relevant buildings (see below). Your taxi can take you straight to the entrance to the Fuller building (the residence we are using for accommodation). It's on Residence Road, UCT Upper Campus, Rondebosch > > We need an address there and the exact building people should go to for > > registration. I am not sure where the front desk will be hanging out during DebCamp. But from the 27th, it should be located in Menzies room 11A. Menzies is on Engineering Mall. > DebConf will take place in the Snape Building on Upper Campus, while > DebCamp will be in the UCT Pub and the Open Weekend will happen in > Menzies. DebCamp will be using those same hacklabs, as well as some in Fuller (probably). > > Also appreciated would be a link from that page to how to get online in the > > Cape Town Airport in order to actually call the recommended Uber. I think the airport will give you 30 mins (50MiB) free WiFi, with email / SMS verification required. http://www.saairports.com/free-wifi > Is there a place there to buy a local SIM card? I'd recommend the Woolworths at the airport. [Debconf-discuss] ways to send money to self if any travel bursary reimbursements at end is done through cash (ZAR) .
Hi all, While I do not know how the travel bursary reimbursements will be done at the end of the conference, either through cash (like last year) and if I do not want to carry such a large amount as cash, can anybody tell/share what options there are to send money to self or home cheaply and legally ? I am looking at western union but any other option which does direct money transfer between the two countries ( South Africa and India) are also welcome. Banks are also supposed to be one option but there fees are on the higher side vis-a-vis westerm Union/Paypal and there also seems to be conditions as to how much you can send in one go. Does it make sense to have a westerm union account for such a purpose ? I do know that like last year, there is possibility for doing online transfers after some time which is the last option if nothing of the above works/doesn't make sense. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com EB80 462B 08E1 A0DE A73A 2C2F 9F3D C7A4 E1C4 D2D8 ___ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
