Thanks for this info.

However, it's not yet clear to me how this will work in practice. Once
arrived, should we just wait for people to pick us up? If so, where? Or
should we head for some specific place where periodically the shuttle
people will come looking for us? Or should we go find the shuttles
ourselves? etc. you see the kind of doubts I've in mind :-)

I wouldn't mind finding my way to the city on my own. But for those who
want to use the shuttle service, and given the service will be provided
anyhow, I've the feeling that some logistic information are needed.

TIA,
Cheers.

Is suppossed that someone with your name will be waiting in the airport when
you go out from the plane, to direct you to the VIP room, then when you be
outside, you will need to find a person/car with SEMINOLE sign.

Yesterday people from govt tell us that since July 7th is "Repliegue tactico"
[0] and July 19th is the anniversary of "Triunfo de la revolución"[1], on July
the VIP room from the airport will be full of delegations from another
countries, ambassadors and else. So we will have more security than usual at
the airport.

I agree, that It would have been the right way to go.

But because we had more data on the wiki page and needed to give away
this information quickly, we just took it from the wiki page. Anyway if
you don't want to have your data public you might not even want to give
it to the government (at least not in this way, related to DebConf)

Personally, i think, the welcome room is a nice extra but not necessary
and I'd prefer to not do another call getting people putting their
flight information into Penta. You can always just go through regulary
customs and you'll be very fine.

But, don't we need this information for the hotel Shuttles as well?
Then, I think, it would be enough reason to do another call.

Re: [Debconf-discuss] Welcome room at the airport

2012-06-30 Thread Felix Delattre
Sorry all together! We won't have a special welcome room at the airport.

The government just advised that they can not provide the welcome room
(although promised before) because of all the preparations for the 19th
of July (Revolution memory day) and too many international
representatives arriving at Managua airport within the next two weeks.

Anyway customs and migration is generally nice and more friendly than in
most of other countries.

Have a nice trip and see you in Managua.
Cheers,
Felix

should that go to -announce, also?

So the people arriving go the normal way as all passengers and at the
outside look for people with "Seminole" signs, or Name signs?

Just to ensure they find everything easily, we might specify that as
clearly as possible (as far as information from hotels is clear, if
that's not the case, the hotel contact people should probably clarify
if possible).

Yes, we will have shuttle service from Seminole Hotel, you will see people with
a "hotel seminole sign" [0]. They will have a list with the name :)

We recommend that you start by going to your hotel; if you are in the DebConf
hotels and using the shuttle service you will arrive there anyway. You can leave
your bags, take a shower, relax and then walk to the venue. Please check the map
for better orientation: http://debconf12.debconf.org/map.xhtml

The hotel will have a list of DebConf room allocations -- please tell
them your name and help them find it on the list!

The Front Desk will be located in the hacklab building (Xabier
Gorostiaga) -- when you arrive on the campus, you should go there and
register. If the university security staff ask you something, just tell
them that you are going to DebConf and they will let you in for the
first time to get your badge.

If you are bringing cheese, the hotel rooms do not have a
mini-bar/fridge, but don't panic, you can label your cheese and give it
to the hotel's reception people, and they will store it in a safe place
for you.

Cheers,
