[Debconf-discuss] C&W BOF add-on: Recipe for elder flower liquor (i18n-ed)

2009-07-26 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

yesterday I had to promise to publish the recipe for the elder flower liquor
I prepared at home and served yesterday. I've got the recipe from the German
page

http://www.chefkoch.de/rezepte/269951103727949/Erfrischender-Holunderbluetenlikoer.html

and here comes my translation:

Refreshing liquor of elder flowers

Ingredients
===

35 flowers of elder flower umbels (fully bursted into bloom)
3 litre water
50 gcitric acid (powder)
1 kgsugar
3 Bottles of spirit (I used so called "Doppelkorn" see at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korn_(liquor) with 38%)

Preparation
===
Harvest the elder flowers after a period of nice weather at noon to
ensure best flavour. Shake them a bit to get rid of any bugs (well,
really living bugs not in software ;-)) because by washing with water
some flavour will be lost.

Use a large pot or bucket an put elder flowers, water and citric acid
into it. Leave it alone for 24 hours. (Hint: You might put some
peals of organically grown oranges or lemons into it as well.) After
this period you put the stuff through a sieve - we also use a sheet or
filter bag for coffee as second filtering step to get a really clear
liquid. Put sugar and spirit to the liquid and stir it up.

Then you fill the liquor into bottles (keep the spirit bottles for
this reason and find some additional ones). You can safely store the
bottles in the cellar for one year - but I assure you that it will not
last that long until all your bottles are empty before this period if
you stick to the amounts given above. (This year we used 1.5 times of
the stuff). The liquor can be consumed immediately without any
additional waiting.

[Debconf-discuss] video volunteers

2009-07-26 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi,

please submit yourself for the (live) shifts you want to do at
https://penta.debconf.org/penta/volunteer/schedule - according to this, we
lack many people, which I dont think is true at all, but without knowing for
sure its hard to plan and to react to real missing people...

Also we need people doing reviewing today, which can be done anytime. If you
know how, please do reviewing, else, please talk to someone doing reviewing
in the videoroom, or Franklin or me.

Thank you!

Or does anybody know of an alternative way to get hot water? I'm not
the only person here with severe withdrawal symptoms. :-)

It seems there's at least hot coffee and milk, so I guess there must
be a way to heat liquids somewhere.

[Debconf-discuss] FreeRunner users’ meeting tod ay at 5

2009-07-26 Thread Joachim Breitner
Hi,

today, at 17:00, I invite all new and old owners of an Openmoko
FreeRunner into the Upper Talk room, for an informal meeting. We want to
spread information about
 * What distros are there?
 * What applications are there?
 * What communications channels are there?
 * What to expect from the phone?
 * How to contribute
and maybe more.

There is no video needed (I checked with someone whose name I forgot
from the Video Team), despite the location.

Greetings,
Joachim

Idea: Couldn't it work so that when killed, the killed could give a
secret code known only to the game system and him with which the
killer could confirm himself?

I'm quite certain I'm not going to confirm my killing "within 2 hours"
if it happens late on night on way to the secondary residence, for
example. If next morning is not good enough, it's ok to me to
drop/disqualify me or whatever, but I just can't promise that much
flexibility.

(OTOH I also don't have a clean sock with me and don't intend to walk
to the secondary residence in 39 °C only to get one, so you probably
don't need to worry about me killing you today.)

[Debconf-discuss] Please everybody do screenshots

2009-07-26 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

when I had my talk about usage of UDD in Debian Pure Blends the idea came
up to ask DebConf attendees to provide one screenshot per day for any
random application. And so I'm doing now.

I hope everybody is aware about the fact that there is a service

   screenshots.debian.net

which was announced about 8 monthes ago and just needs input data.
I have no idea whether there are currently much applications using
this service but to make it attractive for developers to say of
Synaptic we need some good coverage of the applications in Debian to
make any sense. The only existing application of this data I know
is in the tasks pages of Debian Pure Blends[2].

So what I would like to propose: Every attendee should provide one
screenshot per day to screenshots.debian.net. I hope this will not
end in a D.O.S. attack but it could really kick the effort. If you
wonder which package you should take screenshots from the tasks[2]
pages might be helpful because they directly link to the upload
page of the application and you see immediataly what is missing.
The Debian Edu tasks provide a lot of potential candidates for
everybody.

So please go on screenshoting to make Debian even more attractive.

Many thanks

  Andreas.

[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2008/11/msg3.html
[2] http://blends.alioth.debian.org/ ... follow the link to a Blend of
your choice and choose there the link tasks pages. Once you
selected a specific page you see some screenshots attached to the
applications.
Probably best coverage in Debian Junior like
http://blends.alioth.debian.org/junior/tasks/arcade
or things like this.

I think it is pretty clear for everybody that talks scheduled outside the
"official" schedule and not in the upper/lower talk won't be recorded.

The schedule is not done only for video purposes, also it is good for people
knowing what events are going on and for eserving rooms for these events,
since we only have 3...
