Re: [Debconf-discuss] [Debconf-announce] key fingerprints (ksp-dc7.txt) and public keys (ksp-dc7.asc.bz2) are available

2007-06-14 Thread Kai Hendry
Hi Anibal,

I'm a little concerned about the 'carbon footprint' with regards to
the 'party' here. ;)

I did just try print ksp-dc7.txt at debcamp and I had to stop it as it
was too many pages. You probably could get it down a lot with 4-up
(anyone have a recipe?), though the printer here doesn't do duplex.
Btw the print cost per page is about 5pence.

Anyway, isn't an option if people *bring their laptops* with them to
the keysigning instead of a print out?

Best wishes,

a2ps -4 -B -l 80 -o - ksp-dc7.txt|gnome-gv -
(7 sheets, 4 if you print double-sided)

But the letters are really tiny. You may want to replace -2 with -4.
(15 sheets, 8 double-sided)

(You may instruct gnome-gv to first print all odd pages, then reload
the paper and print the even pages to simulate duplex printing)

If you feel comfortable pulling, opening, powering-on, booting etc a
laptop every now and then, why not? :)

AFAIUI, the "party" is not single, time-constrained event, but
continues all along the conference.

Sorry for the confusion. I've just read [1] again which states:

I've just used
a2ps ksp-dc7.txt -E -B --borders=no -l 100 -o ksp-dc7-a2ps-100.ps
(-2 is default but then some lines are to long -> -l 100; and
borders don't seem helpful either ;-))
The resulting ps has 12 sheets.

Cheers,
gregor

[Debconf-discuss] recording bofs today and tomorrow / helping the video team during debconf

2007-06-14 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi,

the video setup is prgressing quite well, though we're getting in some
finishing-line stress now, but hopefully we'll have nothing too bad.

But we wont record+stream any BOFs or similar sessions today and tomorrow,
because we're busy preparing for DebianDay and DebConf.

But if *you* want to grab a camera and record a BOF you're attending today or
tomorrow, contact me (or Ben or Tore or), and we'll hand you a camera, a
tripod and a tape, so you can record it. Then we can later dvgrab that
recording, encode and publish it.

This has been done this morning with the "configuration files NG" BoF.

And if you want to help the video team during DebConf, please get in touch
with pixie (on irc) and tell her you want to help. We need camera operators,
audio mixers and file reviewers. Thanks!

(We'll also need help to clean up the room & the stage of whats the hacklab
now and put stuff in the bags. This is both scheduled for tomorrow, if you
want to help there, probably get in touch with the frontdesk.)

regards,
Holger

I won't bring extra copies as I've been very busy at my new work.

Some people have had a laptop during the keysigning.

Some other people download ksp-dc7.txt, compute the checksum,
validate the signature and then take it as input to produce a single
page with the names, key ids and fingerprints only.

If I have the checksum computed and compared, do I still need the
fingerprint on the printout? After all, they are verified in the file on
my disk? Therefore, I’d only key ids and uids. Right?

Joachim

Any, assuming I checked mine before

Yes, that sounds correct.

Of course, in case that some issues arise and you need to check specific
fingerprints, you won't be able to do it...
